While Japanese New Nintendo 3DS owners have over 50 cover plates - known as Kisekae in the country - to choose from, the spread of these to Europe is a little more measured. A dozen options were available at launch, while a Majora's Mask 3D option is on the way; Nintendo has now confirmed another eight designs coming on 2nd April.
As you can see below, they're going to offer a variety of styles.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is also due on 2nd April, though this announcement doesn't include the rather gorgeous Xenoblade cover plates; we're hoping they'll be coming in a slightly grander announcement.
Are any of you in Europe planning to pick up some of these cover plates?

Not getting any. I'm keeping my Ambassador cover plates
I really like the Kirby one, so I think I will be picking that one up for sure.
The Pikachu one is cute.
Well at least thats something that won't be stuck on cargo ships off the west coast.

Edit - Gamestop posted this article yesterday, but the port strike ended 2 days, but I thought it was funnier this way
I already have Ambassador, Super Smash Bros and MH4U (White) plates... Think I'm settled for a while lol. Currently using MH4U plate so my Ambassador ones can remain in a pristine condition...
Meh 27€ on premium plates. I'll wait for no.55.
I've just got the Yoshi coverplates and I like them a whole lot more than I expected... but that Pikachu set is going to be very hard to resist!
Definitely getting the Kirby one
I might just get those Kirby plates even if I can't have a New 3DS to slap them on.
I'm using the Peach Cover Plate at the moment, but I will be buying that Pikachu Cover Plate!
I'm hoping they release the Boo Cover Plate, which glows in the dark. Although I might import that one from Japan.
@rjejr
Thanks for the update. I had no idea the strike was over.
I've been keeping my eye on that Kirby cover plate since the New 3DS was announced in Europe, glad to see it's finally getting a release date!
Same day as Xenoblade Chronicles 3D no less, looks like I'll be pre-ordered them together.
@rjejr Why is it funny? When hundreds of ships have been backed up in the harbor waiting to be unloaded just because the dispute is over doesn't mean all of those ships will be magically unloaded on the same day. The supply hold up is going to take weeks, possibly months, to normalize.
@Mommar - um, it's funny b/c these aren't coming to the US b/c the US doesn't have the regular size new 3DS yet so the port strike never mattered.
And the strike's effects are still happening @rjejr
What's your point?
but none to North America
You know who would HATE these? America
@RoomB31
Indeed. Sigh . . .
...and here's where I'd put my faceplates, IF U.S HAD THEM!
@RadioShadow
Yeah I'm waiting for the boo glow in the dark one too. Might have to buy import.
Kirby & Pikachu look amazing
The Xenoblade cover plates, that's all I want.
With a 1-2 per household limit!
@Luna-Harmony Might i ask what anime you're profile picture is from? looks like something from the 90's or so
Those pikachu faceplates would make me so happy. It's a shame we didn't get the smaller n3DS
@Tommeh @RadioShadow yeah the boo glow in the dark cover plate is cool I imported from Japan but the back case is very thin and makes an annoying creaking noise every time you use the 3ds I also got charged for import tax and had to pay to get it released from them what cost me an extra £20 ouch I would hold of from importing them
My wooden face plate creaks a bit too.
If I had a regular N3DS, I'd probably just mix and match the plates ^^. I'm satisfied with my Majoras Mask XL over here in the US though.
So I'm not missing anything by owning an XL. These all suck.
@rjejr
Oh, is that why there's a strike on the west coast? Gotta say, that's kinda pathetic.
@TingLz - Strikes can't effect an item that isn't coming to the US, that' why it's funny.
After dodging the Amiibo bullet I felt pretty proud of myself...sure, I own about 10 of them, but nothing what makes the ol wallet cry...
Then came along these damned cover plates and all the money I "saved" on not buying Amiibo went into my newest addiction. Because these actually have a functionality I care about the first 5 were bought without thinking. Then there was this store that were practically giving them away at €10 a pop. Long story a lil shorter: I own 16 already with 3 on their way.... And the end is nowhere in sight.
My favorites so far: the ambassador one ofc, the Kirby and Pika ones europe's getting in April, the wooden Mario one, the pink and white Mario retro and my Peach cover. This all until my Zelda plates arrive this week obviously... There's just one problem: I need a black new 3ds to really make the best of those covers I'm afraid :S
//Sighs because I'm an American
The Xenoblade plates are all I want. I use a New 3DS XL but I'd like a set of the Xenoblade ones to keep in box and on display.
FInally! I'm getting Pikachu and Kirby
I what those Pikachu plates, reminds me of my old Pikachu 3ds XL.
MY AMERICAN BODY IS READY
Still no K.K. Slider? Okay, more time for my Ambassador ones.
By the way: I got rid of the creaking with double sided adhesive tape, but am a little nervous now if I will get the plates changed without damaging them.
@WaveBoy The Pikachu looks like a swarm of bumblebees. No thanks. The only ones that I've seen that look really good are the Xenoblade and Majora's Mask. Those I would own.
