When it comes to culinary action games, one would think that Overcooked: Special Edition is more than sufficient to satisfy such niche tastes, but that title in particular is certainly best enjoyed with friends. What if you wanted hack ‘n’ slash combat? What if you wanted match three puzzling? What if you wanted RPG mechanics? What if you wanted all of that in one game?
If that sounds like you, then Battle Chef Brigade is everything you’ve ever wanted. Sporting a sleek 2D animation style and gameplay that is quite unlike any other, this looks like a game to keep on your radar. It was just announced for the Switch alongside a release date of 20th November, so you won’t have to wait much longer to give this one a go.
What do you think? Will you give this one a try? What do you think of the concept? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

I feel really drawn to this game. Not sure why other than i love genre mashups.
toriko?
I tried this one at PSX last year, definitely loved what I played!
Cooking Mama: Adult Edition?
The name of this rings a bell, but watching the trailer, this is the first time I Denver seeing any gameplay. Looks fantastic and I can’t wait to try it out now. My wallet is suffering!
Is that a Iron Chef call back in the trailer? Sweeeeeeeeet!
Looks too much like a Flash game from 10 years ago. Awful animation puts me right off. I'll bet this shows up as a £1.99 deal on iOS pretty soon too. Maybe even free with ads.
@riChchestM Looks fine. Seen even worse flash type games. It even looks better than Dragon Ball Super at start of the series. Just pointing the truth here
The mish mash of genres looks interesting, but the presentation is dire.
90% of the animation is missing
The art and animation look very similar to early 2000's Flash-animation. If the cooking aspect was very robust, I'd consider this. Based on the trailer, both the cooking and side-scroller aspects look half-baked (no pun intended.)
Unless reviews are very strong, I'm good with the excellent Overcooked. Really fun to play at the office. XD
@Wraggadam1 Maybe we Colorado try it!
rolls up sleeves
What'd you say about my Mama?!
@Zach haha. I Denver remember autocorrect changing remember in that way! 👍
I can understand those criticising the art style and animation, but for me it immediately evokes the feelings I had sitting down and watching cartoons from the late 80’s, with the grainy filter applied deliberately adding to this. This all totally matches up with the Ridiculousness of the concept. I really want this to be good!
This looks like great fun. Depending on the amount of content I'll get it either on Switch or PC.
This is kind of strange and kind of awesome.
Is the narrator the voice behind the Honest Trailers guy?
Looks appealing to me, I will wait for the review to make my decision.
