Re: Nintendo Is Considering A Successor To The 3DS According To Its New President

Seacliff

@Crono1973 "They are moving onto the Switch because a 3DS successor hasn't been confirmed yet."

Pretty sure it doesn't work like that. You can't just throw multimillion-dollar projects on the 'next best thing'.

And the fact that they hadn't considered it yet means it's going to be years and years away even if they decided it should be a thing now. Like how there's evidence that the 3DS started development in 2008. By then the Switch would be well into its lifespan.

3DS successor or not, it's not clearly not going to coexist with the Switch.

Re: Video: Yo-Kai Watch 4 Teaser Trailer Reconfirms 2018 Release Date For Japan

Seacliff

@Wanjia It is... or rather it was, in Japan.
Was super popular in 2014-2015 over there, but died out. Many think it was because of oversaturation since they tried to release at least 2 games each year.

It never kicked off in the West, save maybe France from what I hear, because it's way to infused in Japanese culture for modern western kids to understand or appreciate and is understandably too childish for the average adult. (That said, I'm an adult and I enjoy the games).

I do personally hope it does do a bit better in the west if only enough to make the localization between each game shorter since the cult fans this series does have overseas is pretty devoted.

Re: Amazon Mexico Listing Reveals RPG Maker MV For Switch

Seacliff

They better be using the same name because it has cross-functionality with the PC makers.

I just see little purpose for getting the console RPG Makers if they won't allow me to import resources, edit code, and have limited server times. Two of which isn't an issue for their IOS release.

Re: Digital Foundry Takes Issue With Hyrule Warriors' Portable Performance On Switch

Seacliff

Wish there was a performance mode like FEW too, but this video did skimp on a lot of the technical differences between the Switch and Wii U version of the game.
-New Lighting Engine.
-25% More enemies.
-Double the draw distance.
-Little to no spawn lag. (I remember running into enemy keeps on the Wii U version and waiting several seconds for the enemies to spawn).

Individually little stuff, but added together makes the attempt to reach 1080p 60fps a bit more impressive.

Though they REALLY need to patch undocked mode running at 1080p.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Make Of The Three Big Pokémon Games Coming To Nintendo Switch?

Seacliff

Really thinking about it Let's Go probably ironically has more of what I want from a Pokemon game than a figurative Gen 8 would provide.

-Less focus on story with a lot fewer cutscenes.
-A more open-less linear world.
-More laid back atmosphere that doesn't involve evil villain using Mcguffin Token Legendary Pokemon to destroy the world.

Meanwhile, what I fear from Pokemon 2019 based on what I've played in Sun and Moon:
-Hours and hours of cutscenes involving another pretentious, yet generic plot that can be summed up in a paragraph.
-Random encounters, but little to no dungeons anyways.
-Probably made the EXP share mandatory at this point because they are afraid kids playing the game will accidentally turn it off and complain the game is too hard. (sarcasm, hopefully)

Granted, I still would prefer a new region and random encounters. But I'm personally interested in Let's Go.

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (Switch)

Seacliff

@shani Legends mode is, by all means, the tutorial. The only way someone would think otherwise is if they haven't played Adventure mode. It piece-by-piece introduces the elements that become focuses on Adventure mode objectives.

More characters than Legend mode, nearly every weapon, every weapon upgrade, and 90% of all Heart Containers and Heart Pieces are obtained through Adventure mode.

Not to mention all the above can take over 200 hours to unlock in Adventure mode... that was before any of the DLC or these re-releases.

That does not sound like 'Bonus Content'.

Re: Review: Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (Switch)

Seacliff

@EmmatheBest They would have talked about the changes from the 3DS version if there was actually a change significant to report.

I haven't played the 3DS version, but from my understanding is that the biggest difference is the like of Bomb Flowers and Cuccos.

Re: Review: Asdivine Hearts (Switch eShop)

Seacliff

It's a little disappointing this is considered one of Kemco's better games.

It would be nice if Exe Create was given the extra time to make a more polished and more focused JRPG that can stand on its own without nostalgia.

The clearly have some talent, but I'm barely engaged with a game that I can safely turn on auto battle for every random encounter, my experience with Revenant Saga, in a nutshell, it feels like they never bothered to balanced the game so they low-ball the enemy stats so they at least won't frustrate the player.

Writing is a tier higher than Tokyo RPG Factory's, but ironically I prefer they didn't try to focus on the story if the best they can produce is 'above-average'. While not Exe Create, my favorite Kemco RPG is actually Grinsia because it didn't prioritize the story yet the result wasn't anything noticeably better or worse in that category.

If someone is into Kemco for the audience for classic RPGs, I would really like to show them the better games from RPG maker. A well-made RM game like Star Stealing Prince, Heartbeat, Skyborn, or Lisa really knocks anything Kemco has made out of the park in presentation, gameplay, writing, and just general passion.

Re: JRPG Another Eden: The Cat That Travels Through Space And Time Is Coming To Switch

Seacliff

I really had to learn to except that most mobile RPGs, especially Kemcos, just aren't for me.

They seem more interested in trying to emulate how one remembers playing older JRPGs without even considering why those games are praised to begin with.

With just the simplest of strategies, I could auto even bosses on hard mode in Reverant Saga.

But hey, if this turns out to be different, I'll check it out. But I'm not hopeful.

Re: Here's How The Nvidia Shield Port Of Mario Galaxy Handles The Lack Of Motion Controls

Seacliff

@DK-Fan Adding to the topic.
It's to my understanding that China's 'Hardcore' gaming market is mostly PC MMOs, something Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo invests a lot into if at all.

My guess is Nintendo want to create brand recognition via these ports. If they started by asking for a console, that would be fairly alien to the market. But if they create fans through these ports they might be more likely to buy a console for their sequels.

So someone who played Twilight Princess or Mario Galaxy on the Nvidia might get interested in Breath of the Wild or Odyssey.

I do hope this works too.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Confirms He's Working On Super Smash Bros. Switch

Seacliff

@SLIGEACH_EIRE The footage you showed has more counter-evidence.
Copyright 2018. If it was a port it would have to say 2014-2018.

Really though do you actually think Nintendo would make a CGI trailer, with no music from Smash 4 and with a new logo.

With Sakurai going out of his way on Twitter to say "We’re barely at the stage where we’ve only announced the title."

For a port?

Re: A Hat In Time Developer Confirms The Time Travel Platformer Won't Leap Onto Switch

Seacliff

It's unfortunate, but I still recommend any Mario fan to play this game.

@wiggleronacid
It is pretty nasty. A Hat in Time isn't coming to Switch because of lack of Unreal Engine 3 support.

I hope the demand will allow GFB to persue Switch support for their future titles, but it's their decision if rebuilding the game is a good finicial choice or not. They are not a corperation like Nintendo who can outsource ports to other developers.

Re: Review: Celeste (Switch eShop)

Seacliff

Played it for a few hours, and I can confirm this is legit.

Had a few frustrations, so maybe more of a 9/10 from me, but it does have the quality and enough content to justify the $20 and then some.
