Re: Hackers Are Already Uploading Additional Games To The Switch NES Library

Seacliff

With less games than the NES mini until the end of the year, can't say I blame anyone for doing this.

Really though, even if Nintendo HAD to stick to NES games for this service, they could have provided more interesting titles. Didn't they bother to translate Mother 1 on a failing console, why can't that see a second wind here? Or what about rare games that are hard to find physically like Mr. Gimmick?

I'm never going to understand Nintendo's approach to retro gaming. They have the assets for the best (legal) retro-service ever created by mankind, yet they refuse to do it. Doesn't help they scrap their library of retro games with each console.

Re: Soapbox: We Like To Grumble, But Nintendo Switch Online Is Actually A Very Generous Offer

Seacliff

-Online play that doesn't even have dedicated servers.
-NES games with awful input lag online and can burn the screen.
-You don't actually own the NES games, btw.
-Cloud saves... except for games that could benefit it from them most.

And It does offer less. Xbox and PS offer games that aren't 20-30 years old, and Xbox lets you keep the last gen games. They also provide discounts for the shop as well, which could be Nintendo's special offer, but don't even know THAT yet.

I feel like the person writing this article haven't even extensively used the services he compares Nintendo online to.

Not impressed, especially by how they are handling the NES games.
They're starting with 20 games, and only plan to add three games each month...
Nintendo has the opportunity to have the ultimate Netflix-like Retro gaming service, and they decide to slowly trickle out new releases? It's also not much to those who own an NES classic, which has over half of this and more.

Re: RPG Maker MV Releases In North America Next February

Seacliff

I'm going to skip.
I have been getting into basic coding and have been able to do pretty swell stuff with Vx Ace and MV such as random bonus stats and skills for equipment to more complex puzzles to use for dungeons.

Combine that with creating your own assets, or even importing assets from the community, and you have the ability to create games that people won't be able to tell are even RPG Maker games.

Comparing the PC makers to the console makers is like comparing Octopath to Kemco... no, it's a wider gap than even that.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Fitness Boxing Exclusively For Switch

Seacliff

If Nintendo really wants to succor a large portion of non-gamers for their audience like the Wii, they really do need more sports games with wide appeal.

I'm sure the more gimmicky side like 12 Switch and Labo brought in a few thousand. But c'mon, it should be a no-brainer why Wii Sports is so popular, people like sports and they think it's cool to play like a pro.

Re: Review: Octopath Traveler (Switch)

@Shellcore I find when review outlets claim a game is 'grindy', it can often mean they fail to apply proper tactics to the battle system and have to raise their levels a lot to make up for the lack of skill.

I haven't played this game yet, so I can't say if it applies to this game or not. Bust we live in an era were most turn based games are simple enough you can get away with spamming strong attacks and occasional heals, when a JRPG breaks that trend, like Etrain Odyssey or Battle Chasers, some people struggle to adapt.

Re: Review: Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded (Switch)

I think Nintendolife normally underrates Mystery Dungeon style games, but still, we have yet to see any of the great Touhou spinoffs get ported to console.

Still waiting for Labyrinth of Touhou 2 or one of the games developed by Twilight Frontier...
