Re: UK Retailer GAME To Close 40 Stores In "Rationalisation Programme"

Sakura7

I hear what people are saying but they're not all bad. Got an xbox bundle with about 4 games including Red Dead 2 physical and Forza Horizon 4 download. Deal was online. Went to Thornaby Teesside Park Game and deals instore were slightly different instore and a bit - about a tenner - more expensive. However they were happy to honour the online deal. Not only that when I mentioned in passing that I already had the cheapest game, Prey, in the bundle but was still a good deal they offered to swap it with the cheapest game from another bundle, Dishonored semi-sequel. So not that big a deal but things like that make a difference and just can't be done online. Getting into mobiles was dumb though. I think CEX need to be careful. I often see them handing out couple hundred quid for phones, but rarely anyone buying for a couple hundred...

Re: Trademark Discovery Suggests Klonoa, Mr Driller And Splatterhouse Might Be Making A Comeback

Sakura7

Klonoa is my favourite videogame character ever ( well a tie with MegaMan Zero). And what with Grandia being my favourite game ever and Final Fantasy 8 being my favourite FF game, this is getting freaky. Seeing as the gods are looking down on me can I plese have:

Skies of Arcadia

Baten Kaitos 2 (new game)

Otogi 1+ 2 and a new game

Project Gotham 5 new game

Fragile Dreams Farewell Ruins of the Moon (HD enhanced and controls reworked port)

Pangya Golf with Style

Phantom Crash sequel

Jet Set Radio Future

and GORF!

Re: Feature: Best GameCube Games

Sakura7

Great list. Yes it includes compilations and ports, but unlike other lists, every single game here is excellant. Could easily have a Top 100 without a dud. Def Jam, PN03, Donkey Konga/Jungle, Lost Kingdom II, and Billy Hatcher, need some loving. Special mention to the R:Racing limited double disc edition which included the first ever release of Pac-Man VS.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo GameCube

While the wii u, ps3 and 360 have been relegated upstairs; my Gamecube is proudly hooked up to the main living room TV alongside the Xbox one, PS4, and Switch. By far my fave console with some of the greatest games ever. Skies of Arcadia, Monkey Ball, Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphony, Def Jam, Metal Gear Twin Snakes, and that's before we get into first party stuff. Phenomenal

Re: GameStop Set To Close 180 - 200 "Underperforming" Stores This Fiscal Year

Sakura7

To be truthful it could have been worse. I'm UK so can't get into whether the ... really excessive!... online bashing is justified. Much of this has to do with online retailers, which affects all stores, but GameStop is hit twice with digital sales. If anything the number closing is relatively small compared to the number it has. And while people are saying things like 'should close down completely' there must be many happy customers. And comparing online prices to groundstep retail is not really justified. The overheads on groundstep are phenomenal. Hopefully employees in the stores affected will get support from GameStop in finding new employment.

Re: Decade-Old DS Game Dragon Quest V Re-Entered The Japanese Charts This Week

Sakura7

Weirdly I think I have physical copies of all the Dragon Quest games, barring X. Although based in UK I got the first three games from a local games shop in the early 2000s. 1 and 2 are on one GBC cartridge with 3 on a GBC catridge by itself. This was before Dragon Quest in the West was a thing, and actually called Dragon Warriors. Just as luckily picked up the first three Legend of Heroes PSP games in the mid 2000s from the same, a series whose last three Cold Steel games have just come out on PS4. Pity no more indie games shops around. Movie looks class too...

Shame Hamster is being dumped in the 'also released' pile - especially in the week X Multiply is released. It wasn't so long ago that there would be weeks when Hamster titles were the only things worth getting...

Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?

Sakura7

My blue left joycon drifted very badly. It was kinda shocking to see a recalibration attempt just had the check dot drift to the outer left circle and stubbornly refuse to move. Has put me off getting a Lite.

Re: The Grandia HD Collection Is "Coming Soon" To Nintendo Switch

Sakura7

The original Grandia is my top favourite game ever. It's one of the very few PS1 games I've never traded in having the beautiful original character picture CDs version (collectors beware as the game was reissued as text only CDs). A definte buy for the HD, especially as I got the first two Syberia games in the recent Switch sale and was astonished how much differenc the HD made.

Re: THQ Nordic Will Reveal Three New Games Over The Next Three Days

Sakura7

THQ Nordic now have pre-promoting their old IPs down to a fine art - even the recent kerfuffle was VERY quickly forgotten. It's been fun guessing but who knew the likes of Sphinx would review better now than they did back in the day. But c'mon - give us TimeSplitters trilogy as one release!

Re: Nintendo Adds Three New Games To The Switch Online NES Library This Month

Sakura7

Did not realise till I read this thread that you also have access to the Japanese games if you had set up a Japanese account. It took literally 2 minutes from reading that to downloading the Japanese online - which takes seconds - to having access to the games! Japanese boxart is awesome. Only problem is the horific organisation. Been carefully curating the UK site when games released with certain groups of games given their own line. Man does this service need Wii U style folders (and Wii U style manuals natch). Weird how the Wii U homepage looks more modern, is easier to access, and much more comprehensive than the Switch counterpart.

Re: Expect More Xbox Live-Enabled Games To Come To Switch Over The Next Year

Sakura7

Had a look at my copy of Jet Set Radio Future and the game manual warranty is for Microsoft, not Sega. Checked other original Xbox games and the warranty is always the games publisher. So OutRun 2 warranty is Sega, Toca 2 warranty is CodeMasters and, yes, Halo warranty is Microsoft. However, Jet Set Radio Future was a console exclusive, so fair enough, but still having the warranty be Microsoft rather than Sega may be unusual, especially at that time. It's possible that a very tight exclusivity rather than the commomly referred to music rights, has held back release of this most requested game. And if that's the case Sega (who love the Switch) could possibly do a CupHead style agreement with Microsoft to get 'Future on the Switch made by the Ages guys. E3 2019 announcement? Even if reaching it's becoming increasingly likely that Nintendo / Microsoft are gonna make some kind of joint announcement at E3, and probably in relation to Microsoft basically providing the Switch's Live service. But if so would it be Nintendo paying them a huge fee, a percentage of sales, or something else entirely (based around cloud gaming)?
