The Switch is quickly becoming the platform of choice for JRPG fans. Square Enix has shown ongoing support by releasing multiple Final Fantasy games on the system and more recently it announced Star Ocean: First Departure R would arrive in the near future.
GungHo Online Entertainment has now revealed the Grandia HD Collection - previously known as Grandia + Grandia II HD Remaster - will be "coming soon" to the Nintendo Switch. The collection was originally revealed for Nintendo's platform in August last year.

This is a must have. Considered one of the best RPGs of all time.
I hope they announce a June release date for these. Come onnnn!
I will shill for the Grandia series for as long as I live.
Never played Grandia, will probably get this!
Yes let it happen, even better release them physically and my money will be yours GungHo.
Allah has blessed me, my mom threw my ps2 away with my Grandia 1 disc one inside, I hope the original voices are used.
BUYING!! And I know my best friend will also be getting this as well! That’s two sales right there for ya!
Whelp, looks like my wallet is going to be sad again.
Another hidden gem of JRPGs. Remember always watching my sister play this.
So good. Loved grandia 1, haven’t been able to play 2. I’m pretty happy that the switch is getting so many games like this. I bet it’ll have as many rpgs as the 3DS by the time this gen is over.
Are the first two better than Grandia 3?
Fantastic news! Can't wait
I wonder if we will later get another HD collection with Grandia Xtreme and Grandia 3 ? It sure would be nice if we do
These games are insane I really love them
Awesome! It's been so quiet that I was half expecting they had given up on it. Both games are really solid RPGs.
One of the better JRPG series many people haven't played. The story isn't phenomenal (though not bad either) but the music and battle system are top notch. As long as the port isn't garbage (or stupid expensive like Capcom ports) I'll likely snag this.
I always thought it was funny that Millenia (girl with red hair in Grandia 2) was voiced by the lady who played the Little Mermaid.
@R_Champ it won't be garbage. Why? Because they will give in Grandia 1 higher resolution option and 16:9 option and they will use both psx and saturn source codes. So it means you will get from both consoles the +++ sides together in 1 which will make it the ultimate version. And no more long load times when you want to enter item/equipment menu. That was very annoying such long load times. Now we will get a proper one. Now with that said, I bet you gagged
So we could see Grandia 1 and 2 along with the Mana Collection at E3? Erm...WOW!
I really enjoyed Grandia II and I don’t normally do JRPGs. Never tried Grandia. Definitely on my radar.
Bet it's going to be download only, but if it comes to physical I will for sure get it
So looking forward to this, I played Grandia 1 last year again in anticipation, and I made Sue a monster with 99 Mace, 99 Bow, 99 Fire and 99 Earth.
never played grandia 2 but do remember playing the first and loving it. though Im pretty sure Ive never finished it. will definetly pick this up. so many rpgs to get through, FF9 to finish next, then X and also undertale!!
These are both top 10 all time RPGs for me, but I've already beaten both at least 3 times each and I still own the original disks so I don't need to buy it for Switch. But I want to buy it for Switch and I totally will day one just give it to me now! Sorry about that little outburst.
Next step: Chrono Cross HD + Chrono Break! (OK, the 2nd one is a bit far fetched)
Didn't I read some time ago that this game wasn't releasing in Japan? That was really strange news when I heard it.
Anyways I've never played this series before so I may give it a try.
These games were great back in their day, and I still have them. They honestly haven't aged very well. Grandia games even in their time were excessively long and grinding. I'd rather see them bring a Suikoden collection to switch. IMO that game series HAS aged very well. All it really needs is a bit of tweaking on the choppy graphics.
@Santoria Especially when there's audio and subtitles in Japanese available
Well, here's something to look forward to.
Fantastic, I never played the first one but I had the sequel on the Dreamcast and the battle mechanics where you could delay enemy attacks was superb and added a brilliant layer of tactics to things. I'll definitely be getting this!
I loved Grandia 2 on the Dreamcast, but although I have the disc and PSN versions of the first one, I've never quite got around to playing it.
Maybe a third copy will help?
@PlayerOne yes it will. it will be even better version. hopefully this one is 16:9 native instead 16:9 stretched out image. That was just no
I have Japanese version or Grandia II on Dreamcast. Great game, got right near the end before some boss just destroyed me. Spent hours trying to beat it with no joy.
@kobashi100 when you play a RPG game you also most love to level up. To be the strongest and kick soms butts. If you don't have that attitude you will be beaten at last level due not spending time to level up or power properly. I see that a lot happening with most gamers. Just spend a bit more leveling up. If you don't like that you might want to try other game that doesn't aquire you to level up. Maybe hack/slash/adventure games are more for you. You just go and play and beat game and that's it
why only the first two? What about Grandia 3 and Grandia Xtreme???
Grandia 2, one of the best Dreamcast Games ever made <3 Cannot wait to buy this the 4th time (Dreamcast, old PC Version based on the disgusting PS2 port with ugly textures and washed out colors + low res, PC HD Dreamcast original Remaster and now Switch
Grandia was a great game. Never played the second so might pick this up
@Morrow If Grandia 3 is the one with the teenage boy and his mother flying in an airplane, then yes, very much better. The first was a very long story driven game, the 2nd had the best fighting game engine I've ever used in a turn based game.
I'm in! Glad I never got to play this one. Looking forward to experiencing it!
Been waiting to hear news on these, I never played the grandia games, but always hear how good they are and been looking forward to picking this up to try it out.
FINALLY. Been watching and even hunting for any news on these since it was announced last Fall with a 'Winter 2018' release window. So much for that!
Grandia II is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Wish they would remake it from ground up.
Anyway, PLEASE SHADOW DROP THIS AT E3!
The original Grandia is my top favourite game ever. It's one of the very few PS1 games I've never traded in having the beautiful original character picture CDs version (collectors beware as the game was reissued as text only CDs). A definte buy for the HD, especially as I got the first two Syberia games in the recent Switch sale and was astonished how much differenc the HD made.
Will this be the same as the anniversary edition?
Grandia is my favorite JRPG of all time tied with Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star IV, Lunar:SSSC, and Skies of Arcadia.
I'll be getting the Switch version if it has beautiful packaging. Otherwise Steam at 4k it is.
Probably both!
Super pumped for this, never bought DC version.
Maybe someday we'll get Skies of Arcadia remaster...
@Alucard83 wtf was your post about. I am not an idiot you know.. of course I know you have to level up in RPG games. I have only been playing and completing RPG games since the SNES days. Damn all I said was I got stuck one one boss near the end. Also considering it was the Japanese version of Grandia 2 and using no guide I think I done pretty damn well.
Where's Grandia III? Then it would be a collection.

Great games! But in the footage from E3 2019 it looks awful, with smeared out sprites in what looks like a Eagle-filter. I do hope this is something you can decide yourself...
