DLSS is there to help with third party games, running the resolution at 720p, maybe lower and upscaling it to 1080p. This will help SW2 run pretty much everything on its hybrid console

Honestly if nintendo would allow Nintendo music app to load in the background would be awesome. Not just the eshop or menus, but games too

@Ulysses yeah that could be the case. It will sell better than download codes but it's just not the same.

I miss the days when I could go to a store, but a new game with the physical game inside, manual with it. Now it's just so cheap. I love physical games, but honestly I'm slowly moving more towards digital nowadays. It's just easier with a hybrid console

@gorkem86 considering companies aren't going to pay to huge fees that come with bigger sizes, this is very unlikely

@Yoshi3 I'm not saying it's a good arguement I'm just saying how it is. Nintendo game prices have always been expensive, I think everything is going to go up now, Nintendo just got there first.

@Yoshi3 most games you will play for a year or two and that's it. Mario kart you know will be a good investment and pretty much will still be played to death 7 years later. I get the price, but can't complain about the price when most people spend 100's on cosmetic items on Fortnite, GTA or FIFA. At least with mario Kart you are getting a grade A full game

@Zealv2 these game key carts don't really make sense. You still have to manufacture the cases, granted it's still cheaper than a cartridge but still, what's the point

This sucks for physical collectors but unfortunately this is how the gaming industry is going. Most games are way bigger than 64gb, and even with some absolute miracles and cuts, most games won't come on the cart.

I mean its a good idea, although I'm not fond of the red border at the top taking up most of the space.

Also, most games will probs be download only except Nintendo exclusives.

Honestly metroid prime 4 really does feel like the halo of switch 2. It will be the flagship game that most people will look back on. As they say, things will only get better from here, and if this is the benchmark for switch 2, it's going to an amazing generation.

How are people complaining about the lack of games at launch? Honestly gamers are so spoilt these days. Used to be 1/2 maybe 3 decent games on launch, the rest all crap.

@tdub154420 nothing like wii u. This is set up perfectly to sell like hotcakes. Some decent 1st party hitters and a host of 3rd party support.

@Tyranexx good point, didn't notice that. Honestly thought it would have been a launch title considering it's cross gen anyways. Surely would have released it by now if wasn't for switch 2

@SplatRay001 xenoblade was shown along with multiple titles that would get upgraded in the direct.

@kid_keo just to add to this, backwards compatibility really makes a difference here too. I would say most people still have a backlog on the OG so it wouldn't be like you would lose all that when you transfer to SW2.

Overall I'm over the moon with the direct and honestly cannot wait to get my hands on this thing

10/10 Nintendo made me cry. Honestly everything I had hoped for came true. Only critique was we only saw a glimpse of the UI on the system. Other than that you can tell our nindy has grown up!

@electrolite77 simply because most of the comments are invalid and make no sense. Considering what this console is coming with that is a good price point. Considering the newest next gen console right now is around 700 and isn't THAT much of difference you really are complaining for nothing.

@rjejr ff7 remake kinda struggled on my Ryzen 5 laptop at certain points. Honestly I believe switch will handle these games. With the upscaling technology the CPU has in DLSS, they could even lower the resolution and still make it look decent enough to run

@eltomo most likely will and before a Xbox version for sure. I've been the same, I was closed to getting a ps5 this year but now all I need is silent hill remake to come to switch and I'm set

For real those numbers are tiny considering what you are getting. 4k 60fps on TV and handheld that does 120 FPS for just over £400. Why are people complaining. Seriously too much clowns on the internet who doesn't deserve the time or oxygen

Honestly I think Nintendo actually made in blank on purpose in the reveal trailer. I think the leaks were correct when it said C. Maybe C is for console. Could be a way of entering chat mode?

@Pillowpants the more ports the better. This is exactly why in the last Nintendo consoles didnt do so well. Don't get me wrong, first party IP's will always make the console sell, but having more games that performance wise is on par with other consoles will make switch 2 the better console

@Sequel I remember when I first got a ps1, it had a demo tech disc and I remember a the t-rex demo. That was amazing.

Im kinda hoping this new mario kart is free and is basically f-zero 99, battle royale.

I will deffo be getting this day one. So many games I would love to see with better performance. Also if it's true about upscaling to 1440p there is so many games I already have that I can't wait to play again

@cosmograph its rumoured you can still connect the joycons on switch 2 but you just cannot charge them because they won't connect to the switch.

While this is amazing news, problem is that 256/512gb really won't be big enough and a 1tb express as card will be far too expensive. This is new technology, so expect those prices to be sky high

@GrailUK DLSS is the game changer here. You essentially wont need a powerful CPU to get good image quality. I'm not expecting native 4k on switch 2. It's rumoured it's closer to a PS4 pro than Xbox series s.

A less powerful CPU means cheaper price for the switch which is good news! Exciting times for the big N

@Debo626 simply so they can announce a oled switch 2 revision further down the line. Nintendo know people will buy og switch 2 day one will most likely update later on

Great article! Brings back alot of memories from my teens! I miss going into a game store, unfortunately I only have cex and the usual independent stores that wouldn't know sonic from mario.

Being a young adult trade-ins really helped me experience so many games back in the day and I'm grateful I was part of the fun! My dad sadly passed January this year but I'll never forget always going into a game store and seeing a xfx 9 on th shelf and being pleasently surprised!

Simple answer is no. Without Mario kart, Zelda etc they will never be able to compete. These series are what has made Nintendo so special.

Also Microsoft have already destroyed the handheld idea with their play anywhere slogan. What's the point in paying all that money for a handheld when they have already pushed for the idea of play on any device.
