I'm sure you eventually did ! I noticed that intelligent, thoughtful people tend to find each others (even if I'm not one of them).

I'm french, and when I was 6, I played a game in which the only written words I can recall were "It's dangerous to go alone", and I'm not even sure I guessed what the french translation of "dangerous" was... The golden box of that game was deceptive for a somewhat limited boy.

(Oh I remember having played a demo of RE4 or 5. I think It felt like a rail shooter in a city with lots of cinematics. I disliked it very much ! )

Cassette boy. I like green and puzzles.

When I see all these Final Fantasy games, with all these roman numbers, I think that series will always remain an enigma I don't want to decipher.

@Gryffin I got used to play with a magnifier adapted to the Switch (the brand is Qaba). Things look a bit blurrier (or smoother) but I find playing more comfortable. Ah, and you must play in the dark because of the reflections !

You're right about the purple buttons, and I actually find them quite elegant and gentle. A more obvious and agressive color choice would have been the same bright red as the one on the Nes controllers (and on Gameboy)
Still, I've watched american commercials of that era and it was all thunder and lightnings and "Power" everywhere.

@Dom_31 "Who decided to go with that?" Nintendo of America. They wanted to get rid of the colourful buttons or anything that was toy-like (colours are supposed to be childish...) because the agressively marketed, (young) adult oriented Megadrive was succesful in the USA.
Hence north-american console looking like a tank, because war is an adult and futuristic thing...

The japanese box art is faithful to the original one. It's mysterious, Kandisky abstract and colourful. The difference of sizes between the console and the controllers is not relevant for the mini Super Famicom, but who cares ?

Europe is as messy and hard to understand as the way UE works...which makes sense. It's the worst of the three.

North America is still this tank with lavender dots, but that list of beloved games (not Starfox 2...) is very appealing.

The hectic animated film "Redline" is close to what could be a F-Zero movie.
It was written by Katsuhiro Ishii (among others), of whom "the taste of tea" is the most known film in Europe.

It looks like japanese Bruce Springsteen and Billy Idol have an argument on both boxes.

@jfp @JohnnyMind Indeed, I played Portal 2 and it was vertiginous and so intelligently designed , regardless of the pretty humiliating and cruel humor. You never cease thinking, you're never on autopilot... and there are not 7800 bananas to collect ( I needed to say that) !

@jfp But don't you think Nintendo games (and now movies) are actually blockbusters made by a company that don't take much risks anymore ?
They kept their cold blood and took a risk with BoTW (a WiiU game, originally) when they were close to the edge and when Itawa ran the house...and because they couldn't feed a console only with "Mario kart" and Kirby remakes.

I wish they made more space a for more creativity and experimental things like Mario 35, F-Zero 99 or this cardboard stuff (Nintendo Labo).

It looks like the laboratory has closed its doors and that Nintendo asks itself : "What Disney would do ?"

I guess video games are polyglot. "Tetris" doesn't speak the same language as, say "GTA 5".
