Now this is a metroidvania that looks worth my time to play. I love the art style, I love the variance in gameplay, I love the folklore theme, and I love the somewhat obscure Kurosawa reference. Basically this game just looks amazing.
Rocket League and Tetris Effect? Those games are not addictive.
What About Binding of Issac, Mr Driller, Pocket Dungeon, Shovel Knight Dig? Cult of the Freaking Lamb? I've sat down and played that game for 8 hours without even realizing
@cylemmulo It could get better further into the game, but I found the first couple hours of the game to be quite bad. And I was reallllly looking forward to it.
@-wc- I do like Phantom hourglass though, I just acknowledge it's not as good as it should have been. A 6 would be... Idk, like an uncharted game, or bioshock? A lot of ps3 era games. Linear, cinematic, enjoyable, but not games I'd call favorites. 5 starts getting into dislike territory for me, or heavily flawed games. I don't think I'd give a game I like lower than a 6. 1-4 is just flavors of bad for me. 0 is "Return of the Joker" and -1 is people who think it's good.
I definitely don't like lazy uses of licensed stuff either, I know what you mean in general, especially when it has a negative effect later because of the terms.
@-wc- I think if I give something a 7, that's not a very good grade for me. It usually means it didn't live to its potential, like phantom hourglass or something.
No licenses in films? Surely you don't mean no Jaws, Godfather, or Silence of the Lambs? Or abolishing the Pulp Fiction or American Grafitti Soundtracks?
@Darthmoogle Car licensing is such bs. All but... 5? Of my 50 favorite racing game's are either delisted entirely, or stuck on hardware from over a decade ago. Beetle Adventure Racing, chief among them.
@Porky Even though you're right, there's no point in saying this, because the people who still haven't played it are the people who think it's stealing or who need an "official version", even if they already pay for NSO.
So if they're going all out then this will presumably be a full open world/area. Maybe something like Crazy taxi mixed with Burnout Paradise. Or something more similar to Rare Games from the 90's where you have a set amount of goals in an area, and try to complete them all. I shouldn't get my hopes up though.
@Ironcore You joke but that's exactly where we will be in a few years.
@Not_Soos I'm not saying all those game shouldn't get newer sequels, they're all great, but I've been really wanting one of the big companies to take a risk and make a new Mascot 3D Platformer. Something Like Vexx or A Hat in Time but on an even bigger scale like Odyssey
@TCKuma It is not in the style of an ad, it just says some of the text from the game, and in English for some reason. None of the other text is in any way trying to advertise the product either.
Man, Japan really got shafted on these covers. It's not quite as stark as the first MvDK, but still, I don't quite get the marketing on these sometimes. I'd love to talk to the person who selects these, like that gba Mario golf cover that's just a bunch of dudes.
This is such a pathetic list honestly. I voted robo dunk, because the 2K games run like garbage, though they're actually mostly fine for a pickup experience.
If you want the best basketball game in active development at the moment, get hoopland on android or ios. You can even sideload it onto a shield and it runs well.
@Bret No, you're right it's not the same thing, as all these articles about the industry have proven, it's better. Why would someone want to stay in toxic horrible workplace, and why would you want them to? And you're clearly not a creative, otherwise you would know that "spare time" for people who make stuff is the time when they make stuff.
@Bret No, it takes a lot of money to pay people to make games. If you can already make them, it just takes time and effort. You are thinking about companies in the same way the people being criticized in this article are. It does take money to live while doing this, but then again, that's the position we are all in.
This game looks awful anyways. By which I mean, the character writing is like newspaper comic strip dialogue. The idea for the game is brilliant though. And the graphics on pc look awesome.
@-wc- I actually don't think horror is a theme, I think horror needs to be attempting to scare you. For instance what's more a horror film, Silence of the Lambs, or The Adams Family? But which is more horror themed? When I organize things, I usually avoid this by making a folder for "Horror & Gothic". Also I agree that doom was pretty freaky as a kid.
I wish they were gong more in their order though, that seems better. It would really show the evolution with things like Sweet Home.
This look is kind of getting overdone. That rabbit looks just the like the one, the other day, from inkulinati or whatever. The whole medieval manuscript sort of vibe. There were a couple more game like it last year too.
@ThatZeldaNerd Yes it is my most played switch game, and most played Wii U game, I've likely played it more than you have. It has a team mode which is still just one player trying to get the best place, and you are still competing against another team, there is no actual cooperative mode to the game. It's like saying your favorite sidescrolling platformer is Links Awakening, because of the few small lackluster sections of sidescrolling.
@SwagaliciousJohnson I typically agree, except that it's an online only game anyways, so the difference is kind of negligible. I mostly avoid online only games too though.
This is one of those games that is going to be a very small amount of peoples' favorite game, and the rest will mostly hate it. It does look like a pretty cool design though.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Yeah the first game was kind of pitch perfect, I wish they had left that alone. I buy a lot of first party Nintendo games, but honestly I've found most of their remakes on switch to not live up to the originals. Which after the 3ds nailing remakes and remasters left and right is frustrating, but I guess most people want different things now.
@PJOREILLY I'm a bit confused because the original game, while not "difficult" was still challenging enough for me as an adult to be fun, and almost universally well regarded. What exactly changes in this version to make it worse?
@Twilite9 They absolutely have no responsibility to do anything. These are people making a game, it's their game and they can do as they please. I don't even understand how someone can have thoughts like this, much less share them.
@chiiizu This is kind of true, but also not really. I think big companies mostly create their proprietary engines within these creative tools, so it's not much different than it's ever been.

THIS is what a hellboy game should be like.

@Tyranexx That is a very good question.

Re: Talking Point: Which Xbox Games Would You Like To See Come To Switch?
They can keep Psychonauts 2. I already own it on deck, but man what a disappointing game.
Re: New SteamWorld Game Sales Fell "Slightly Short" Of Thunderful's Expectations
Noooooo, come on. It didn't sell well because it's a freaking city builder. This game is like one of the games I'm most lookng forward to.

Who is voting for 7 or below on this game?
Re: Hori Unveils Guitar Controller And 'Guitar Life: Lesson 1' For Switch
Yeah.... They can keep this one. Cool controller idea though.
Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Getting A Limited Run Physical Switch Release, Pre-Orders Coming Soon
I remember being excited for this game, but then the reviews had a lot of red flags. Mostly that it doesn't live up to its promise.

Re: Nintendo Direct February 2024: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
Arranger is the one I'm most excited for.
Re: Incredibly Rare GBA Platformer 'Ninja Five-O' Is Coming To Switch
Best non Nintendo IP game on the gba. And generally just my favorite Action Platformer of all time.
Re: Mother 3 Is Getting An Adorable New Set Of Plushies Later This Year
@chiiizu No, you don't need to. It has its own story, and I have enjoyed what I've played of 3 without having played much of earthbound.
Re: Mother 3 Is Getting An Adorable New Set Of Plushies Later This Year
I have to say, these actually look really nice.
Re: You Can Now Buy Your Very Own Sheikah Slate From Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Whooooooa, that is one expensive happy meal!
Re: Review: qomp 2 (Switch) - The Spiritual Successor That Pong Deserves
This looks kind of like witcheye, but more tedious.
Re: RPG Farming Adventure 'Tales Of Seikyu' Confirms Release On Switch Platforms
God those farming Sim elements look like a chore.

@Fizza I really think you're giving them credit they didn't earn. It's definitely not supposed to be a toy ad, that would be very cool though.

This looks like a giant McDonald's toy from the 90's.

@shgamer The PSP version of legend has exclusive content too.

I don't like the pros or cons, and there's FMV too? Yuck

Just more of the same, but these people can make games, they can start their own companies and stuff if they want.
Re: Horror Game 'Gylt' Is Scaring Up A Storm On Switch Next Month
I didn't realize this got a full release last year, it was stuck on stadia when it died.
Re: Xbox Game Pass Really Isn't Coming To Nintendo Switch
I guess I can see the appeal, but it's not like everyone on this site doesn't have a device they can run it on already.
Re: Horror Game Doc 'TerrorBytes' To Include Interviews With 'Eternal Darkness' Director
@-wc- Yeah I agree, it's definitely more in the Gothic side of things, not really trying to scare people, but the aesthetic is influential.

@ThatZeldaNerd That is not a co-op game.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Thank you!
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Couch Co-op Games
@tapdancingtommy Keywe makes me so angry because they removed support for anything except single joycons and refuse to fix it.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Couch Co-op Games
A lot of these are just good games with not great Co op modes. Stuff Like Capitan Toad or and of the Mario games aren't very fun to me in multi.
Pitfall Planet
Nobody Saves The World
Good Job
Unrailed
Don't Starve Together
Unless I missed them, these are all better than most of this list for Co-op. Though "It Takes 2", "Lovers", and "Overcooked 1" stand alone.

Re: Dead Cells Lead Designer Isn't Happy With "Abrupt" Decision To End Development
It's the cost of selling out my friend. Just be happy you never have to take a job at a corporate chain again.
Re: Soapbox: With Switch Online, It's The Perfect Time To Bring Back These Wii U Gems
I thought these games were a bit overrated. Not bad, just sort of, not as good as the 9-volt segments of warioware.
