Interestingly I just found out about the gba Chips Challenge port a few days ago, and was wondering why it wasn't for sale yet. No rom available though, just cartridge.

Oh wow, that's actually really cool. Its on deck but a modern console port is my preference.

I bought the last one day one, I think I got one of the dlc packs, it was so disappointing. Terribly made game for the price, worthless dlc, you can only use cosmetics in single player or something.

Give us endless dungeons in pocket dungeon, and a Mina release date.

@Pod Which calls me more to my second point that I'd love to throw 30 bucks at a sequel to get Headhunter back on track, but this one doesn't excite me. Yeah they were probably scapegoating, I just realllly want Headhunter.

@PikaPhantom I know! It doesn't make sense. But they literally said they had shelved Headhunter because build didn't sell well.

It's hard to care when 1) They paused headhunters because they spent their time andcash on the dumb city builder and 2) They took away the awesome space setting, and now they're sailing around on water, despite it being the currency in the last game.

I don't think I've ever felt represented by a video game. That's not the right place to look for validation.

@HeeHo What we have here is dev VS publisher confusion. The dev just made his game, if EA chose to publish it for ulterior motives, that is probably forced diversity to some degree but has nothing to do with the dude who made it.
I've been accused of racism for saying we shouldn't pat game companies on the back for forcing diversity that should go uncommented upon in the natural course of events. I've been accused of being a sjw by people for saying it's probably better to remove swastikas from Japanese games where they were used casually, given their past affiliations with Nazi Germany.
Point being, people will find ways of accusing others of whatever they want, and claiming whatever they want. I also think Moonlight is one of the ten greatest films of all time, and imagine the backlash if I posted that on reddit. People are nuts.

I thought the game looked bad because the main character looks like a Disney character with a contemporary-ish hairdo. And because it kind of released unfortunately close to POP.

The NA art is actually kind of great, but it's no competition against Japan. That color scheme is sublime.

This looks great, though I'm a bit skeptical after similar looking games have been less good than I expected.

I actually think the ocarina of time bit looks pretty decent. I'm surprised there's so much hate given how many people on here have been slurping up those duplo looking Mario sets.

@ManifoldCuriosity Ahh, a burner troll account. Use whatever comparison you want, my games all work fine, except for a couple lazy ports. Also ancient tech was from botw, you must be confused.

@ManifoldCuriosity Because it's true, most games work, but the ones ported by people who don't know what they're doing do not. If TOTK can run, I don't think you can blame the switch for not running this game.

@LadyCharlie Blame the people who whine if games don't have good enough graphics and framerates, that's why games take so long to develop now.

Weko The Mask Gathererer is the most exciting, but we are in for a lot of great metroidvanias in 2024/25, and 'The Siege and The Sandfox' looks like it will be excellent.

Europe/Japan will probably win here, but I like the minimalist bravely boxarts.

@Scoobydoob I don't believe that he actually owes debt, he's paying his surplus income. Debt cannot be inherited, and rarely even transferred, even between spouses There are some exceptions with spouses but I don't know how enforced they are. If someone has outstanding debt, debtors are allowed to make a claim as the estate goes through probate, but what's in that estate is where debt is drawn from, debt does not carry over to children. This isn't Dickensian London.

Grapple dog is great, and I'm excited to see what the dev does with a gun mechanic.

@InTree I don't know exactly but you mean, but mouse craft is basically tetris as a puzzle platformer. It's also similar to a hello kitty game on Gameboy color, and a TINY bit similar to Tetris plus for ps1/gbc, and Blocked Up (which you can find on itch) . There are also two games Blocky Dungeon and Dungetris, which are roguelikes but have some puzzle platformer tropes and involve building your dungeon with tetris like pieces.

@John_Deacon I don't hate the game as much as it sounds, I'm more disappointed they didn't execute the idea better. Pocket Dungeon sort of did what I wanted Grindstone to do so I never play Grindstone anymore, and I'll be honest, I never got to a challenging part but only played a couple hours or so. This is the mobile game thing I meant where originally they wanted people to grind to get to the better puzzles.

@John_Deacon Grindstone isn't a puzzle platformer in any sense of the term. There's no platforming, or even direct control over a character. It's barely even a puzzle game, it just looks like one, because it was originally made for mobile to cash in on Candy Crush money, but you never actually have to solve anything, and it's basically impossible to not win. So probably not crazy to not have it on the list.

I'd add Phogs, and Mighty Switch Force.

@LastFootnote If you do that, then you're just adding every metroidvania to the list, and then genres become completely irrelevant, and there's no point in making lists.

@_Figo_ I disagree, Monkey Ball Jr is a really fun game. Banana Mania is one of the most pathetic remakes I've played, and I wish I could have my money back.

How is Jr lower than broken Banana Mania?!?! That game is a marvel.

This looks awful, and I probably would have ignored it entirely without this review, but the premise is interesting enough that I'm intrigued.
