Just makes some think of Punk Rock Girl. Man I wish that movie was better because it was almost great, and toad is my favorite part. Then the chimp ray...
Kaepora Gaebora is annoying, I don't know why anyone would like him. The Owl from OG Links Awakening is amazing, but they ruined the music for the entire game on switch and it loses it's impact.
Had to go Mario 64 Owl. It takes me like 20 seconds to get that star now, but when I was a kid I spent a lot more time with him, falling to my death.
@wuntyme8 Yunno, I was just about to say the same thing. I'm not a football fan at all, but I think Mario Football would be awesome, and I'm amazed that they never made one. You're also right about Blitz and Street. Everyone wants simulation now, but I don't think that suits American football like it does with basketball.
@Chibi_Manny Your comment made no sense. Because reading dialogue in cutscenes is not a visual Novel, it's just a cutscene. Like every single game that had dialogue before voice acting. Your baffling dislike of reading, does not make games where you have to read visual novels.
@CinnamonSonic They said that if they have to read dialogue then they "might as well be playing a visual Novel". What I am saying is that anytime someone has to read because a scene doesn't have voice over, does not make it a Visual Novel. That's an absurd statement.
I've gotta say, those are some very nice looking controllers, the analog triggers and back buttons, plus interchangeable colored thumbsticks make these very appealing as emulation devices.
I like the look of this, and choose to remain optimistic. I love the sort of "reverse 2.5d" trend going on right now, and I can't wait to see what devs do with the design space.
@OorWullie Interesting! I remember the leak very well, and that it said this year, but didn't realize so much of it had some to pass. Which gives me hope.
@LadyCharlie The switch's successor is coming this year. Anyone who thinks they're going to let the switch be their only console for ten years is frankly insane. I don't pay attention to rumors, but there have been numerous people who have flat out said they're working on games for it, dev kits have been given out, tech demos have been shown, major third party companies have shifted their production.
@AndreyBoarao Yeah that was bandai/namco, and it's probably one of the most damaging video game patents ever. Sony also did something which prevented everyone from making devices with slide out controllers Ala the psp go, or Xperia play.
@Overzeal if each copy of it nets Nintendo 50 dollars, then they will make over half a billion dollars on a game which maybe cost 50 million to make and came out less than six months ago. That probably counts as good.
Yes please. This looks excellent. Though, you don't really have to make up a new genre name for it, it's basically just an adventure game by the looks of it, and also an isometric angle, so not really a metroidvania in any sense.
@Lanmanna Well I saw the whole "Ash actress reflects on her time in the job" recently, but I didn't know they meant the same show. I don't think I've seen it for something like 19 years. I just assumed it went off the air when I was in high school or something, Pokemon sort of hit a low point in popularity around that time I think. Have they just been foiling team rocket this whole time?
@N00BiSH Yep, this. If it were remasters, it could be different, but Zero Mission is in a tier of it's own.
Edit: I guess The Zelda 3ds remasters snuck in despite not really being remakes. Those are in the same tier, but I think in the truest sense of the term remake, it has to be Zero Mission still.
Yeah, I've heard the premise overcooked in space a few too many times with mediocre results to get too excited, but one day they will hit and it will be amazing.
@Banks You would have to use the blue/red type setting that emulators have rather than the crazy spinning mirror, but yeah I think a cardboard cutout in the VR kind of shape, with a small phone fit into it, plus a strap of some sort. You could even clip it onto headphones. Insert a couple colored lenses into the spot that goes over your eyes. Then hook up a Bluetooth controller and you could probably do a good job replicating the original. The lenses are the trickiest part but you could try packing tape and food coloring, or highlighters.
Wario land is just OK, and widely considered the best game. Maybe Jack Bros is the only other exclusive that someone might feel is a must play? The tech is so primitive you can just make your own out of an old phone, some cardboard, and a little ingenuity.
Everyone is so up in arms about the secrecy. I think they just didn't expect people to care this much. I think these are going to be top tier remasters, especially for new players.
@dartmonkey I am not disagreeing with the tech inside a joycon, but a wiimote operated on three separate accelerometers each for a particular axis, with no gyro, whereas the Joycon uses gyro heavily.
The axis I am claiming a Joycon cannot measure is a straight Z. If you hold a single joystick flat on your palm and raise it up and down with no tilt, to my knowledge, no game I've played senses that it is happening. It only picks up lateral movement (what would be x/y axis while held like a controller instead of flat.) In order to play excitebots, you need to create a full circle with full z axis sensing capability (that same up and down raising movement, but at a different angle). I tested this in a few games and all of them rely solely on the axises I'm referring to.
I am happy to be proven wrong by a game that utilizes the momement I am talking about, but if it exists I don't know it I don't think just claiming that something is possible without presenting any evidence is a particularly productive way of having a discussion though.
@dartmonkey Well when I say impossible to emulate I mean on a machine without integrated motion controls. Even on one's with it, because the gyro isn't as complex as a wiimote. Android for instance.
Are you sure they can do everything a wiimote can do? I don't think thats entirely correct. I have done lots of cool things with joycons but I have not yet see a game that utilizes the same kind of motion controls as excite bots. I'm talking the launch mechanic here, not just steering. The full three axis sensing? Do you know of one that does?
@Smug43 Those were both on Wii not gamecube. Normally I wouldn't correct this but they are basically impossible to put on switch because of it, as they used wiimote specific inputs. Maybe trucks could be? They're also basically impossible to emulate. I don't think a Joycon can do that circular shake thing when you launch yourself in excite bots though. This is one of the main reasons I hate the Wii.

@-wc- Yeah, but dumb stuff like this is the reason they can afford to pay the people at time extension to write real articles.

@Kienda Ohhhhh, I understand now. I didn't realize thats what the 11 meant. That's a valid complaint, haha.

@CinnamonSonic Yes but 99 percent of all dialogue in Zelda is reading, so any amount of reading is a visual Novel? That's an absurd thing to say.
Re: Shin chan: Shiro Of Coal Town Looks Gorgeous In New Trailer
@Chibi_Manny That's a bit extreme, have you never played a Zelda game?
Re: Best Nintendo Remakes Of All Time, Ranked
@Princess_Lilly I think 2-5 on this list are all better than the originals. And Ocarina and Majora's Mask are my favorite games of all time.

@VoodooTrumpet There's no way you don't think those backgrounds look nice.

Yeah, I mean, most of the top ones aren't really remakes, but they are very good games.

The spiteful attitude towards TOTK astounds me. It's better than BOTW In almost every way. I liked the shrines in botw though, and the beasts.

Re: Geometry Survivor Brings Rogue-Lite Survival Auto-Shooter Action To Switch
Geometry wars as an auto-shooter does not sound very fun at all to me. And generic neon Vampire Survivors sounds... slightly more appealing I guess?

@IceEarthGuard The funny thing is, I know the whole art, and I still thought they were nipples.
