I can't help but be impressed to see Arkham Asylum, a favourite game of mine on PS3, running on Wii. With a bit more love and care I do think it could have been a competent version of the game. I'd imagine it would be fun to use the Wii remote to aim with Batman's weapons.
I'm rather keen to try this game out after hearing about it for such a long time. Shantae is my favourite character of modern 2d platformers, she's great.
While many out there go crazy for 4k fancy consoles and devices, there's me longing to have a system that can play all Gameboy/Advance games at their best. :3 This is really interesting for me!
I personally feel like a Mario cartoon would work, given the charming humour of the series, large cast of characters and surreal kinds of adventures that could take place.
I am nostalgic for old Nickelodeon but as I don't watch it these days I feel like it could be done not to my standard. But, I'll try and stay hopeful... what ever it could be. :3
Merry Christmas to everyone here :3 thank you Nintendo Life for being a fun place to explore all things Nintendo, for me. 15 years ago today, I got my very first Nintendo console of my own, a Gameboy Advance, and I'd never been so excited in my life! Now I'm 20, and playing Pokémon Moon on my New 3DS and I'm excited to see what the Switch offers, next year! ^_^
Wow, I remember seeing this Prototype being shown off while it was known as the "Developer's System" and being totally amazed by the fact it had two screens and could play Super Mario 64 portably. The Prototype looks very 80s to me, similar to the original Gameboy. Still cool though, I wouldn't have minded when I was 8. ^_^
@Jumpman I remember closely keeping an eye out on the sales figure of the DS family as far into 2012 expecting the DS to rule over the PS2 at that point. That said, both systems deserve a lot of credit.
I think this is a neat collectable item that will no doubt excite younger players to use Z Moves. Though it would be nice if the bracelet had more interaction with the games.
Though despite being 20 years old I'd happily wear one for a bit, just to feel like a kid again.
This is just a guess but maybe Nintendo are preparing for an influx of people using the eShop all at once since Christmas is this week. And as we all know a lot of people will be rushing in to play Pokémon Sun & Moon among many other games. I think the same happened in 2013.
I actually commented on the video a year ago, Perry's self destructive arrogent attitude was what cost him his reputation. I totally think that Diamond and was out of his mind by what he did and clashed with Perry. But Perry could have been the cool guy in the situation but instead voiced hate against Nintendo & Super Mario 64 despite saying he planned to buy it initially and he still remained bitter onwards. The whole wrestling persona just doesn't work when you're playing fun games on GamesMaster.
I'm interested to try it out but as I don't own any Apple device, I think playing Mario Maker, in the mean time, will suffice. (Okay I didn't mean to rhyme)
I will say that VR isn't something that excites me, despite being a fan of the 3DS's Stereoscopic screen (as you could use it straight out of the box) but if this is affordable I'd be keen to check it out.
I just hope it doesn't become Nintendo's main focus for Switch because I don't think VR is worth putting pressure on the developers over.
@AmyGrrl I'm absolutely with you on that; the Virtual Console could have been such a centrepiece for the Wii U when you consider the power of nostalgia. Less platforms were supported than Wii and they don't even give you options to customise each game. Not to mention the lag in some N64/NES games.
Well, when you consider it's the 20th Annerversary of the franchise, with the release of Pokkén, Go (which I never got to play on my phone) & Sun/Moon, it's safe to say 2016 has had the highest impact for Pokémon since the 90s. ^_^ I just hope they have enough steam to carry this forward with new ideas.
Ahh I get the idea of playing Super Mario Run using one hand, but I wince at the idea of eating food while you play games. Getting the controls all greasy and smelling like food, no thank you :x
VC is certainly a big deal for the Switch because of its portable aspect, add in unified region VC games that run in 60hz, with a constant stream of classic games coming out, then you've got a Virtual Console that's fully alive for Switch. ^_^
Also I'd love to be able to transfer my CV games from Wii U/3DS to Switch, without having to pay for an unnessasary fee. I did buy the games first time round, right?
Huh, this is probably the most absurd thing I've heard in a while. I'm not a fan of KW admittedly so I'm not here to hate, but this just seems a bit too peculiar even for him. To name tracks of his album after Wii titles, when you consider they all have copyright names, it's no wonder famous people like himself wind up with money problems without knowing. :x
Oh my goodness, I need all of them! :3 Seriously, I've always wanted a model of adult Link from Ocarina of Time (my favourite design of Link) and at last we have it! I just hope they're stocked well enough.
I really hope to get a NES Mini at the retail price, I was lucky enough to be able to play on one and wow was I surprised. Playing Kirby's Adventure in CRT mode with an actual NES controller, it felt so right. ^_^ who wouldn't want one?
I really hope for this to be true I can't emphasise that enough. I was really disappointed that the Wii U didn't have GC VC despite the similar hardware. (Wii could play GC natively and Wii U could play Wii games natively)
If the Switch does have GC VC, I will eagerly wait for them to release Paper Mario 2, Animal Crossing, Mario Sunshine, Pokémon XD GoD, Mario Party 4-7, Four Swords Adventures, Starfox Adventures & MK: Double Dash. All portable. That would make me so happy.
@iGen I don't often see people using laptops at cafes these days, usually see smartphones but ok. What age range is that? I've been drinking coffee since I were small. :x
I wouldn't have minded if the 3DS version of Mario Maker didn't include a graphical settings that was intended for more powerful hardware. I mean, NSMB U was made with HD visuals and naturally that is an area where the 3DS does not excel in. The Super Mario Bros/3/World themes look perfect! Add in the custom made NSMB 2 theme instead and you've got yourself a well made 3DS version!
My love of Pokémon will never entice me to go to Starbucks, as they are pretty steep. Though café's and smartphones go hand-in-hand these days so smart move I'd say. :3
I think that Nintendo have been paying hackers for quite a while since it was rather easy to play homebrew / emulators on Wii & DS. They just want to ensure the Switch isn't another system used for exploitation. That said, the Switch will likely be a popular system for hackers. Got to get in early I suppose.
I will be getting Yoshi's Woolly World for Wii U later this month, I don't know if it's worth getting the 3DS version for my N3DS XL so soon after getting it on the console. ;-; I love Yoshi!
After I saw that previous article showing the Kirby Satellaview games I got really interested by them and thought I'd give them a go. Really nice that more have been found, I love Kirby ^_^ and I hope to play all the games!
@MrPuzzlez That's what worries me, if Nintendo can't keep on top of having enough stock of NES Minis and the Wii (at launch) then we could see history repeats itself with the Switch.
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy I'd be so disappointed if Yooka-Laylee doesn't come out in Wii U, that is a game I've been looking forward to playing for nearly 2 years and with no Wii U version, I'd have no way to play it on release. ;-;
It's cool that now we have a choice of versions with Mario Maker. ^_^ If you want to make levels anywhere the 3DS version is perfect but if you want to share your levels with the world then the Wii U version is for you.
I preordered Pokémon Moon many months ago after hearing I'll get a promised Lunala figure, via Game UK. A purchase I'm becoming increasingly worrisome over because I feel they will slow my order and not give me the figure I so badly want.
If they mess this up I'll be more than miffed, (rant mode on standby...) but I'm so excited to play the game I've been waiting all year for!
I remember getting my Wii U in 2013 when Super Mario 3D World came out, at that time I honestly thought Nintendo were on top of the world and nothing could stop them! 2014 had so many promising and enticing games like Mario Kart 8 & Smash Bros so I felt like 2015 had a lot to live up too... which sadly it didn't as much. (Splatoon & Xenoblade Chronicles X are amazing but didn't reach out enough to new adopters)
I don't nessesarily consider the Wii U to be a failure, nor a success, simply a modest system with with creative ideas and memorable games, much like the Nintendo GameCube.
To be really honest, I have never been keen on the Rabbids, they always used to annoy me like crazy and they used to appear everywhere when the Wii came out! Which is why I was glad the Rayman series moved on with Origins/Legends. Now a Rayman/Mario crossover could actually work, but only if it was made by the right people. (Maybe it could use Ubiart to bring both visual styles together?) That sounds more like it!
I'm all in favour of continued support for the 3DS family beyond the release of the Switch. My 3DS (New 3DS XL, rather) is the system I've used more than any other, it's easy to set up and play whenever!
I don't see why there should be a rivalry between handheld & home console owners, if the 3DS is doing well it's good for Nintendo, surely! Keep it going!

I'm really getting to feel like "Switch" is a more apt name than I initially though. The Wii U is having many of its games Switched over one by one!
