Re: Official Financial Results Q&A Clarifies Kimishima's "3DS Successor" Comment

PixelSprixie

The 3DS (or its next iteration) still has its place. If the Switch featured StreetPass, backwards compatibility, and a more portable design I'd consider the possibility of it being a 3DS successor. But both systems have different purposes. It's like expecting the iPad to replace the iPhone on the basis that its a newer concept. Parents won't want to buy a Switch like they would a 3DS for their children.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Expects Nintendo Switch To Sell "About As Well" As The Wii

PixelSprixie

I wish for the Switch to be really successful, I'm confident it will far exceed the Wii U in terms of sales & software... but it might be a stretch to expect it to sell like the original Wii did. Back in 2006, there weren't as many options and for casual gamers the Wii was the top system for them. But it's so different now. I expect the Switch to sell similar numbers as the 3DS... hopefully.

Re: Kimishima on the Role of the 3DS After the Switch Launch

PixelSprixie

I know the 3DS is the 'old man' of the console world right now, but the style of play you get from it is still very much unique to the system. I love the StreetPass and SpotPass features. Also it's dual screen set up and resistive touch screen which allows for more exact responses. (Perfect for drawing!) I'm happy to hear the 3DS is having a comfortable place in 2017, I know the Switch seems like a replacement but as dedicated portable systems go, the 3DS is the one for me. ^_^

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Be Easier To Find Than The NES Classic At Launch, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

PixelSprixie

I hope the 3DS continues onwards for the sake of keeping Nintendo in the dedicated portable gaming scene. (To me the Switch is primarily a home console) I want to see a true successor to the 3DS one day, perhaps with architecture which is somewhat similar to Switch? So Nintendo aren't so torn between them both. At a more affordable price, of course. Around £150-180 like the New 3DS XL.

Re: Nintendo Switch Won't Have Miiverse Or StreetPass

PixelSprixie

It's a real shame that Miiverse is going with the Switch... I love being part of a Nintendo community where everyone can contribute and be noticed. Met some amazing friends on there too. I will continue to use my Wii U after I get a Switch, I just hope they don't abandon it.

Re: Nintendo Apparently Told Square "Never Come Back" After Losing Final Fantasy VII To Sony

PixelSprixie

It's a shame the two companies clashed at the time though understandable, the N64 though very impressive for its time, wasn't up for the task of performing Final Fantasy VII on a single cartridge. I'm just happy that Nintendo & Square Enix are on good terms now (the DS had so many games from them) and I look forward to what games they will do next together. Dragon Quest XI will be amazing on Switch.

Re: GameStop References Pokémon On Nintendo Switch Product Page

@DanteSolablood I think you're right which leads me to think why Sun/Moon came to 3DS when it could have came to Switch at a later date. I know it's not easy to just make a new generation but the 3DS waited for Gen 6... so maybe it's possible.

I beg to differ though I do prefer B/W over B/W2. Stars seems more likely than a sequel to S/M at the moment. But I see it coming to 3DS... I don't mind being proven wrong though.

Re: GameStop References Pokémon On Nintendo Switch Product Page

PixelSprixie

@DanteSolablood I'm certain Pokémon X/Y also used high resolution models which caused some perfomance slowdown at times. I just thought GF were pushing the 3DS too far from the start and didn't learn.

I personally feel it would be more impactful if the Switch started off with a new game. Instead of an enhanced game. Sun/Moon are spectacular but the Switch could do with a fresh new game to start. Maybe we'll see Sun/Moon 2 on 3DS in the mean time?

Re: GameStop References Pokémon On Nintendo Switch Product Page

PixelSprixie

Surely it would make more sense to release 'Pokémon Stars' on Nintendo 3DS (with the other Generation 7 games) and when the Switch is actually out, production for Generation 8 could be moved on there? Or am I being silly. I mean, Pokémon Black/White 2 came out in 2012, one year after 3DS launch... on DSi.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS)

PixelSprixie

@ollietaro I will say I'm a fan of the stereoscopic 3D effect but only when it's done well. (where there's lots of depth and runs smoothly) but now that the 3DS isn't the developers main focus like it was in 2013, games will increasingly lose the 3D effect. I think it will make new releases easier to release if 3D is cut entirely. I just hope we get more depth options on New 3DS since it's more powerful.

Re: Review: Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS)

PixelSprixie

@ollietaro I thought DQ7 for 3DS was a remake? I never actually played it on PS1 since it never came to Europe. DQ8 is more complex looking so I understand why that might be so. If XI is being specially made for 3DS it's more likely it will include some 3D but you're right. Sadly everyone seems to neglect the 3d capibilities these days despite games like Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter clearly showing how it's done. (And they look amazing in 3d)

Re: Prepare To Be Blown Away By Nintendo Switch, Says Nvidia CEO

PixelSprixie

If the Switch was the successor to the original Wii I'd be so over excited over the presentation. But the Wii U situation has left me feeling cautious. I'm hopeful of the Switch more than Wii U however I hope the system gives players more freedom this time. (like cross buy, cloud storage and nicer online capibilities)

Re: The Game Boy Was Nearly a Cheap, Short-Term Project

PixelSprixie

It's crazy to think my childhood system was going to be a short lived project that would soon be forgotten about. Thank you Okada for you input! Thanks to the Gameboy, we got new franchises like Pokémon and Kirby, and amazing Mario & Zelda games on the go. Not to mention the later iterations, GB Color & Advance!
