It's the moment we've all been waiting for - Super Mario Run is now available to download in the iOS App Store. Just in case you forgot to turn on that notification, we can tell you that it popped up at about 17:35 here in the UK, and it seems to have already rolled out in the US; it's worth checking in your territory, though not all will necessarily launch at the same time.
While the game is free to start, this only grants access to the first world. To play more you'll need to unlock the full game with an in-app purchase for £7.99 in the UK and $9.99 in the US. That means no family sharing, so everyone in your house will need to stump up the cash if they want to play the full thing on their own device. The game weighs in at 205 MB, so you might need to delete a few photos to make space for it.
If you want to know a bit more our Super Mario Run review is now live, but if you've downloaded the game already we'd love to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below. Sorry Android friends, your time will come!

Any idea if progress can be synced between iPhone and iPad? I've read it always needs an internet connection so I'm hopeful... but it is Nintendo. Historic moment too. iPhone 7 is easily the most powerful hardware a Nintendo game has run on.
I'll wait for the Android version, thanks.
It's not coming up for me. Still just has the button to be notified :/
I'm not a mobile gamer so I won't get it, but I hope this does well. It does look good.
@Peach64 You sign into My Nintendo so the data should be synced between the two.
Have fun!
It really is fun, tried it out on a friend Iphone. I'll have to wait for the Android version though.
On an unrelated note, I drew Zelda in BotW based on the designs from the recent trailer. I think you'll all like it: http://i.imgur.com/PrKuqpZ.jpg
Android!
Not my problem. I hope they have all the problems in the world and nobody download until they release for Android.
@setezerocinco A true Nintendo Fan would want them to have success. Not curse them into problems that could be damaging to business as a whole, what a disgusting thing to say.
@Peach64
I don't know, I'm thinking that's one of the iPad Pros.
@Nintendoforlife
Not to mention enormously spoiled and entitled. He must be an American.
Though to be honest, you name does kind of look biased.
@iGen You might be able to say I am a little biased, however even I am a major Nintendo fan. I wouldn't go as far as to wish anything bad upon Nintendo's. They are all good companies, and just because I like Nintendo the best it doesn't mean I have to demean the others. Let alone the company I support 😜
Well it's bull crap till the whole world can download it.not just apple users.
@Nintendoforlife how can I be a Nintendo fan if I cannot consume a Nintendo product. Excuuuuuse me @Nintendoforlife, but the minimum I expect from a company this size is simultaneous launch in IOS and Android. Play always online to prevent piracy is also possible in Android devices and I would be more than happy to pay 10€ for the game... if it was available!
@setezerocinco
Salty much? What did Nintendo do, kick your puppy and steal your phone?
@setezerocinco So you throw a hissy fit and curse the company you want to give you a game. That's incredibly smart of you, congrats. You can complain maturely and respectfully, not like a 10 year old School boy who didn't get some new Legos.
@Nik-Davies I had the same issue because I had the store open before. Force-close it, then open it again and you should see it.
@Nintendoforlife
Dude, that comment wasn't directed at you. That was just a simple observation by me.
It was there to criticize the other guy and you made your entire reply about that observation. Chill.
@setezerocinco It'll come to Android soon enough. My guess is it'll release in February to help build hype for the Switch launch. And considering 70 odd percent of mobile users use Android it could be a very smart move. Staggering the release like this keeps them in the news longer too.
Every time I try to link this to my Facebook account the app crashes . Is anybody else having this problem?
@Nik-Davies Same for me. I cannot download it. It just says "NOTIFY" still.
The purchase screen gets an error for me...
Can only play first three levels so far.
@iGen this bull**** about Americans grows wearisome beyond measure, and it's a pretty common thing to see around NL, sadly, and is never slapped down by the folks running the site.
So, in lieu of that, take your simple-minded, parochial, bigotry and shove it up your ****.
(Because we know Americans have a monopoly on a sense of entitlement, etc., right?)
It's ok. Bring on super luigi run
Live, huh? Hmm...Still refuses to move beyond notify. Wasn't expecting it to be an effortless breeze to get, but geez.
Some people can get it and others can't, though? What is this, the Amiibo effect?
@Jimsbo I got mine to work by updating my iPhone to the latest version. Then I was able to download it.
I'm in uk not available for me yet😔
Ah yes, I should have realized I was due for another update they didn't choose to tell me about. Sometimes they do, sometimes they make you hunt for it. And now it's been claiming one hour remaining for the last 10 minutes, so that's moving along wonderfully.
Any word on when it's coming to Android?
Ten bucks spent. Thanks, Nintendo.
I'm stuck on the download data screen. What a crappy game.
@iGen Why exactly is that the first thought when a non American is looking to insult someone? We are not the root of all evil and it it is very annoying to be listed as the go to insult because you are unwilling to think of something witty. Please, please stop. The "rah, rah we hate Americans" is really old.
I'm interested to try it out but as I don't own any Apple device, I think playing Mario Maker, in the mean time, will suffice. (Okay I didn't mean to rhyme)
@Ryu_Niiyama Even I got annoyed and I'm not even American. That said, not all non-Americans say stuff like that. :c
Sounds like something an American would say...I'd know...I'm American. I don't wish Nintendo any ill will however, I hope they iron out all the bugs through the iOS release so it'll be more seamless on the Android release. Just looking on the bright side.
Being an Android ain't always easy, but at least we can sleep in good conscience.
...Oh, who am I kidding? Apple and Google will both inevitably become Skynet in the future. It's pretty much a toss-up which will doom the human race first, though.
@ECMIM
Bro, I AM an American. Fully. And sorry, but I think they suck. My opinion. Too bad. You're acting like an offended child, which I'm guessing you are, given the width of your skin.
What you just said also tells me that the administrators may either agree with the concept, or that they just so happened to have never seen those kinds of comments, which I have also never seen before, either.
That was also a half-joke. Shut up, sit down, and realize how you took more offense to that than a normal person would. Maybe somebody told you that you were spoiled and entitled? And now you're seeing it happen again, which makes you super pissed off.
Apparently, Americans are also egotistically insecure, and which is what I've just been shown and have witnessed over the years. They also probably had comfortable childhoods, which explains a lot.
Commence offended rebuttal comment in 3… 2…
EDIT: That's what I thought.
@Ryu_Niiyama
This has nothing to do with wit. This is a comment thread. It is a place where you are supposed to voice your thoughts. It is perfectly acceptable for me to say damn well what I think. And based upon the reactions I have received about voicing my opinion, no matter how crappy it is, I rest my case.
I was essentially expressing dislike towards my own people, but if that hurt your feelings, then I so profusely apologize for my intense meanness.
Though, to be totally honest, this has much more to do with a family member than North America. To whomever took offense to a collection of wrapped text on their glowing screens, congratulations, you have very thin skin. Given that, please disregard my first comment if you hate it so much. Now shut up already and read another article.
Case closed.
PS: No, I am not a terrorist that hates America, neither do I hate America in general. If the political structures are set back in place, which they appear to be doing, I personally consider America the best country. You people and your stupid assumptions... So silly.
@Peach64 said "iPhone 7 is easily the most powerful hardware a Nintendo game has run on."
Hahaha
I'll not run to the App Store, thank you very much!
Just found my Wii U gamepad notification light blinking.
Flushed with a faint hope that the old girl is getting one last surprise, I pressed the Home button to find out.
It was an advert.
For an iOS game.
You are pure scum Nintendo!
@iGen Please don't partially censor profanity. Either censor the whole word or just avoid being such a potty mouth.
I saw this coming a few years back and I very much stood against the norm then, but it was inevitable that Nintendo would eventually tap into this massive market. I played only a few minutes before happily purchasing the full game - well done Nintendo!
@gcunit
I don't find #1 as effective, and for the moment, I can't live without #2.
Help.
That was a good comment, by the way. Wii U is their last dedicated home console and has survived a very rough 4 years.
So what do they do? They advertise their game on another company's platform... On their own platform... Advertising a game that needs to always be online, which is utter rubbish. They could have at least began this movement when the Switch was out, and not, y'know, add insult to effin injury for an already dying/effectively dead console.
While reaching a new high on their products, they have hit a new low on marketing. Their so, so terrible marketing...
...Augh...
...I think they want everybody to forget about New Super Mario Bros. U...
@iGen Take the Fantastic Mr. Fox approach. If you've not seen it, it's a great film with loads of swearing in it, but they replace every swear word with the word 'cuss'.
I didn't like it at first, but now I really do. Try it, you cuss face!
@gcunit
I've seen it plenty of times back in the day.
Though, when you replace the word 'cuss' with what was supposed to match with 'face', I'd rather not use that kind of over-the-top method which is just being hidden rather poorly. I swear, a lot, but I'm not a standard-less delinquent, if that is even believable, but it's true.
But, thank you for the reply. I appreciate it.
@iGen Shame. I am a standard-less delinquent
