I get a feeling this was running off proprietary dev hardware as Nintendo aren't exactly known for putting a ton of power in their systems ever since the Wii released. Backwards compatibility with enhancements however i feel is the logical step forward, given we already know it will be a smooth transition from the current spec Switch to the next gen equivalent.
Given how most casual fans, which garner the biggest audience for the core rpgs, really don't care or notice the performance issues, it's extremely unlikely they'll address them especially as the scope of open world Pokémon continues to grow. Pokémon is that black sheep in Nintendo's lineup, other franchises under their banner can and will get delays but Pokémon never will, it's it's own beast, or monster if you excuse the pun.
I think a more respectful way of referring to the 3DS currently is "officially retiring" rather than "it's dead" because so many people still enjoy their 3DS, myself included, as it still offers experiences not available on Switch whatsoever. Calling it dead makes it sound like the system is an unusable brick with no redeeming features.
I'm not really all that surprised, the Wii is a widely owned and used system today compared to Wii U, I don't think it's a matter of MK8 being inferior to MK Wii, the latter is still a unique experience now that we have MK8DX.
It makes sense, he isn't ruling out the possibility of there ever being a Switch version of the Witness, just that a port isn't currently in the works as Jonathan blow comes up with new ideas. No doubt many here will take this as a personal jab at the Switch, but remember new games are always on the horizon.
Apparently £180 for repairs of a console which some have a design flaw is perfectly acceptable... no it's not.
I love Nintendo but honestly, will people just let them do this to their customers? I've already bought a Switch, I'm not convinced that a more durable replacement shell, if mine ever cracks, is worth that much.
I was so happy to see Adeleine along with Ribbon make a return in the Kirby series, finally as playable characters! Kirby 64 was my go-to childhood game and seeing them together made me excited to replay Star Allies again. Can't wait!
I assume that later revisions of the Switch will or have had better cooling methods applied, and be more resistant to high temperatures. Launch day Switch models will have the most likely culprits of cracking under the heat. I'm happy my October 2017 Switch is perfectly fine for now.
I was hoping this would also apply to Europe too, and that Yoshi's Story would be included too! Thought it's not technically a Mario game, it's still one of my favourite 2D Mario-style games of that era. ^_^
It's such a relief to see N64 games run smoothly in portable mode, gives me a little hope Nintendo may consider making an emulator themselves. ^_^ Credit to the hackers, they're proving the Switch is pretty capible. I just wish Nintendo would give more details about the library of games we'll get with the paid online...
When you consider that the 2DS / New 2DS XL was a huge hit for many younger gamers because of its affordable price, smaller form factor, cheaper software and hardware, Nintendo should definitely consider making handhelds more accessable in the future, so I'm open for a new dedicated handheld from them.
Snake's butt will be character DLC to give it the spotlight it deserves. All jokes aside, I wonder why they decided to give him a non-anatomical butt for the sake of uhh... trying to not let it be a distraction perhaps? I dunno. Better not do the same for Captain Falcon.
Watching the different stances people have on this issue, on Nintendo Life and its sister site, Push Square, are certainly interesting. It's time to look at it objectively. I'm long time PlayStation and Nintendo fan, and what Sony is doing is certainly out of order. In fact, I hope this outcry may kick some sense into them to be more open. However, these practises are not exclusive to Sony, last gen, Microsoft did the same thing with blocking cross play with PS3 players, and they knew they could as the 360 led the way. Then Xbox One launched with a complete disregard to what many people wanted. Later, Nintendo themselves have cut services, given us a lack of transparency for a long time over the online service the Switch is soon set to offer and allow Fortnite players to use voice chat, but Splatoon 2 players need an app (for some unexplained reason)
I'm ready to accept that all big companies are anti-consumerist if they feel they can be.
I don't see Labo taking off as well as Brain Age did, considering the low price point of the DS Lite, and the game itself. Labo seems more like it's made to appeal to hobbyist types, but considering the price of it, combined with the system on top, it's a hard sell.
I kind of predicted the poll results considering the majority of users here indeed play video games daily, me included. However, since coming into college I have less time to engross myself in anything that requires many hours of story / grinding, but this was gradual. But a lot of games these days certainly require more time put into them, as the scope of games gets larger, and while I don't think we should be told to stop playing games for good, the occasional in game reminder to say "you need a break" or let you save anytime would be much needed in more games. Gaming can be addictive, and harmful as a result. I'd play games non-stop as a child.
Hey, the 3DS is still the best handheld to buy and play your VC games on, you get a customisable OS and theme shop, play online for free post-September, they're likely to keep wanting to update the system for as long as it's nessesary! Sorry 3DS naysayers. 😗
Uhm I'm sorry but this seems like a real non-issue to me... It's just an icon for heaven's sake. Snake Pass is just as playable with or without that original icon so I don't see what the fuss is about.
Maybe I'm just at age where I just make do with minor blips. e.e
I don't get why this is inevitable when PSN and Steam have been around longer.... I'm worried about when they do the same for Wii U & 3DS where there will be no way to transfer your download games to Switch.
It makes me sad that Nintendo happily make these decisions. ;-;
As long as they keep all the good artwork, I'll be happy! Playing Yoshi's Woolly World gave me terrible frights in the form of inappropriate Miiverse posts during loading. (You don't wanna know) So they can go... but some amazing art makes me jealous that I don't have the patience to draw in B/W alone. Credit where it's due <3
I played that hack back in 2012 I think (?) and thought it was so cute to see Motobug as the main playable character in Sonic 1. It gave me a new founded appreciation for the li'l fellow. ^_^ so I was happy to see him return in Sonic Mania as a boss. Didn't realise it was a reference to Jim and wasn't aware he had passed away. Time to pay respects to the #1 Motobug fan. <3
I can't help but feel like Nintendo are taking another step back by closing the Miiverse in favour of making us use Social Media to interact with others. I hardly use Facebook or Twitter as you'll find some unpleasant people on both, so Miiverse was a great place to feel noticed and somewhat appreciated as well within the Nintendo community. If Miiverse was Wii U exclusive I'd be more reasoning with its closure but remember, they only just launched the New 2DS XL... which has quick access to it. I don't understand.
Oh my that is so pricey. I think for me 128gb Micro SD would be enough, I don't think 400gb is practical just yet for Switch. My PS4 has a 1TB hard drive which seems like enough, but you are required to install games, so it's a trade off...
Wow. If this game really is good, it makes me hopeful for the next Rayman game. I dunno if this is the kind of game I'd go out of my way to play... but the more good Switch games, the better. All I need now is a Switch :3
This remake looks rather sweet imo, I loved playing Ever Oasis so I would think that. I don't like the doom and gloom attitude so many have towards Square Enix however, for not releasing it in Switch as of yet, and completely hating on the visual style of it as a result. Please, keep an open mind. <3
I still have my boxed copy of HeartGold with Pokéwalker and manual, that was such a good time in 2010 for younger me. ;-; I'm not sure how much fun there is to be had with a box with only a download code...
I got my copy yesterday and have put quite a few hours into it already, I've been giggling non stop at casting odd miis to take in the different rolls. I'd imagine kids will have a lot of fun playing it, but an adult like me can still get a long of enjoyment out of Miitopia ^_^
It's pretty odd you have to juggle two handheld devices just for online play communication. Something so simple looks so complicated... I'm not a fan of this.
I hope this isn't true anytime soon. I love spending time on the all Nintendo social media, drawing pics. (Nothing amazing but I had fun :3) Also getting to talk to other people who play the same games as me. I can't really do the same on Facebook or Twitter because they're too general so it's a stab in the dark for me.
If they delete everything is be very upset... It's Flipnote Studio all over again.
This is cool as a keyboard but if you were to use the Joycons on either side your arms will probably ache. That's what I thought of the GameCube keyboard. :x I remember you could use a usb keyboard on the Wii. Though I only ever used it in Animal Crossing City Folk.
I think this is true, despite always being a Nintendo fan I've always gotten the PlayStation of each generation, mainly because both systems had their own kind of unique games. Loved Locoroco, Katamari and Patapon on PS3, but also Nintendo franchises like Mario, Kirby and Animal Crossing.
I'm not that hyped for paying for online if I'm honest, even at that price. Getting free games is totally cool but for online services... Not worth it for me, I'm afraid. I need money for Switch games. :x
Yay, I can't wait to play Sonic Mania. I really love the 2d Sonic games (the original Megadrive/CD games and the Advance trilogy) so this is looking to be my kind of game! I want to play as my favourite character in the series, Tails. :3
I kinda wish this was a Mario + Rayman crossover because I really love that series, and Origins & Legends are my favourites. I'm not a fan of the Rabbids at all so I'm not sure about this... maybe it will be a similar quality to other Mario spinoffs. I hope it's good.
So heartwarming... when you remember that some people have difficulties (me included) but they are still able to enjoy Nintendo games. ^_^ I really love Rhythm Paradise (as it's known in Europe) because you can feel so engaged in playing it without looking at the screen. The music is amazing and charming too.
I love how they really took notice of his impairment and wrote him a letter in braille. That much have been so special...
I hope this becomes a trend for Switch games to be more including for all kinds of players. MK8 DX is certainly a step in the right direction!
I like Mario Kart Wii the best ^.^ it has my favourite stages (Maple Treeway, Mushroom Gorge, Wario's Gold Mine) I adore it's version of Rainbow Road! I still like to go back and play my copy, it's so fun.
