Re: Review: ESP Ra.De. Psi - The Best Shmup On Nintendo Switch, Period

MrVariant

@Kilroy you're way too disrespectful to be believed and tell me not to comment when others have the same comment. Should be reported honestly. This thread derailed to you bashing me because you prefer details and assume this is a form of intelligence rather than understand those who disagree. And you're telling me to get off your internet's, embarrassing yourself to double down further.

Re: Review: ESP Ra.De. Psi - The Best Shmup On Nintendo Switch, Period

MrVariant

@MarkMSX nothing about that "lot" said in the conclusion nor joys/cons section. Gun types, bullet system usually helps. Apparently "boss milking" to damage non vital areas for more points is apparently a hit or miss term. At least 3 other people @Kalmaro @Fath @niner also had problems with the review.

Review is 1800 words, people in comments gave more info stating too expensive or I don't even know anything after reading this; meaning it has to be reread (and literal TL:DR when my first comment is I could beat the game faster than reading the review). Is there even multiplayer? What's the story like?

Re: Review: ESP Ra.De. Psi - The Best Shmup On Nintendo Switch, Period

MrVariant

@niner lol could probably beat the game in the time it takes to review. No idea what it has over Jamestown which 4 player is a blast (holdout whole the survivor revives is innovative), let alone historical fiction and gun diversity and vaunting to shield zones.

May quit the nintendolife site if they keep with the fluff reviews.

Re: More Than 40% Of Switch Owners In The US Have Another Video Game System

MrVariant

@MuhBael not just that but for graphic intensive games you don't want to go Nintendo. Otherwise you assume the risk with lower frame rates and graphic quality like bloodstained. No idea why they don't have a hard drive neither, but at least you don't have to leave on overnight for installation times and downloading Whoppers of games like marvel vs Capcom infinite (65 gigs), but then switch only has old games with switch online (I prefer downloading for free 3ds Mario maker levels) compared to ps now/Xbox game game pass.

Glad to go cross platform with rocket league. Everybody wins.

Re: Feature: New Year Resolutions For Nintendo In 2020

MrVariant

@ummyeahnintendo nah lol make too much money on switch lite, which is counterintuitive. But yeah I use this link for switch 2 player deals and then buy from PC or phone. https://www.nintendo.com/games/game-guide/#filter/:q=&dFR[filterPlayers][0]=2%2B&dFR[generalFilters][0]=Deals&dFR[platform][0]=Nintendo%20Switch

They'll never try to compete with Xbox game pass/ultimate and PS plus/now when Super Mario maker 2 can be $60 and need switch online solely to download levels, which is sad as the original 3ds version is still accessible and $20.

Re: Best Of 2019: In Praise Of Save States, Rewinds And Walkthroughs

MrVariant

@Solid_Stannis sure great temple at the end at least had the courtesy to let you resume at the start of the temple over the end if you died. Mike is right and far more informative than this long winded article I ironically didn't have time to read.

It's ok to cheat in personal life though; the cover up is far worse. Especially if you get a slap on the wrist like Bill Belichick and the Patriots. But having a bad guy makes things more profitable as people will pay for the unlikely fantasy to see him lose, much like Floyd Mayweather (who doesn't cheat at boxing but is great at gaining heat as his WrestleMania showed).

Heck nobody minds when I say cheating in 5.4.3.2.1...some even think it's fun. Another story if it's academia where a third party can get ya. But then Felicity Huffman got lucky, dunno if Lori Loughlin will too. It's like that Naruto chunin exam, count your warnings and you'll find a window of tolerance.

Re: Talking Point: Astral Chain Proved That New IP Can Still Succeed In 2019

MrVariant

@Heavyarms55 yeah I was praying to find something profound but as the odds showed, I was baffled by this Captain obvious article (they just posted untitled goose game sold 1 million copies). Ah well I'mma go play the millions of Indies and watch sales. While I wait for Dragonball z kakarot and Cris tales to be released.
Sometimes stuff even gets comics like crackdown, anthem or even Temple run. Earthworm Jim was the best $75 comic I ever bought too; book, cards, box art on the shipped box itself, poster and making of book. Indiegogo made over $800,000, and the books had gold and silver plated edges; no wonder they didn't do digital.

Hope it leads to a new earthworm Jim game but I could always buy the OG digitally though it was tough on Sega CD.

Re: Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto Honoured By His Hometown In Japan

MrVariant

@Quarth oh certainly. It's kinda like with Stan Lee in popularizing comics, though Nintendo comics and fzero falcon densetsu were great media outside games besides Pokemon. Collection of masterpieces though Sakurai made the ultimate crossover and new platform fighter genre with smash Bros. But yeah Shigeru lives up to the legendary Miyamoto name like Musashi.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Worldwide Shipments And Downloads Surpass 5.5 Million

MrVariant

@noutBr yeah dragon quest is a nostalgia train, in which people even like old church save/grinding mechanics. From this link it seems the switch version had additions to improve the game, like skipping cutscenes I kid you not. https://www.gamerevolution.com/guides/589131-dragon-quest-11-switch-definitive-edition-version-differences-vs-ps4-pc

Surprised they mention live-in partner but state it's not same sex marriage. Feels like a drop the ball tomodachi life thing to do if they're gonna mention it.

The retro style revert has been done before, so I get you. Let alone it's full price, though I see it around $40 on the switch which is pretty cheap for that system.

Re: Former Nintendo Of America President Reggie Says The Future Of Games Is In The Cloud

MrVariant

@ToonStuff not just that, but onlive flopped as well. We got games in an unlimited packages these days. Save Nintendo who's usually behind on the curve yet is still innovative somehow. Software dumb but hardware genius I guess. Though I'm glad Nintendo has tons of digital sales these days; I just got jamestown, gekido and exorder for like $20+ tax. Just wish platinum points were useful for the switch, but I enjoy the 3ds themes.

At a low price, I don't really mind the whole licensing/digital stuff. I just have to own physical stuff at a certain price range, like when I pre-ordered Dragon ball z kakarot. No way I'm paying $50+ for digital.

I'm also not really into paying online for multiplayer or to merely get super Mario maker 2 levels (which at $20 I prefer the 3ds version though you can only share locally). That would've been a cool use to make like 500 platinum points per month for switch online.

Re: Reggie Resurrects 'Fils-A-Mech' For The Game Awards 2019

MrVariant

@farmer_humpf how he gonna mention surgery without Trauma Center lol. And that was over 10 years ago. Do feel a bit Jade's with games but it is fun to be able to search sales every week or holiday. But yeah imma buy less unless it's cheap lol race to the bottom had Jade's give Pyre free on steam, undermining early buyers.

Re: Guide: Switch, Switch Lite Or 2DS XL? The Nintendo Christmas Console Buying Guide For Parents

MrVariant

@Sunsy that's fine. Mentioning new and old models helps a ton as it can be so confusing to someone uninitiated.

Also glad they mentioned labo not working with switch lite but no super Mario (holiday) party. That's not right, and it's one joycon per player, like party golf, which has so many modes and simultaneous play I think kids will like. New 2ds should've had some recommendations only on that system though.

Do feel bad for those that missed the black friday rush, though I did get Child of light and South park (good for the teenage ones) on sale. Child of light is even 2 player with the wisp highlighting so both can be immersed in the story.

Re: Nintendo Switch Had Its Best-Ever Sales Week Over Thanksgiving In The US

MrVariant

@Tharsman Wii U was a terrible idea. Huge box for a controller with a screen? Less stuff for non-gamers as opposed to wii fit/ring fit adventure and Labo was an affordable VR/arts and crafts.

You are right, but I felt brand loyalty was why so many flocked to more expensive Nintendo, which yeah commonly is called any type of game like coke for soda.

@westman98 yeah you got me; I changed my mind on the lite when everyone did better otherwise, including Nintendo. It can't even play brain age, which I am hyped for.
