The next big Nintendo Switch title due out is Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March 2020. While there's already been quite a lot revealed about the latest entry in the lifestyle simulation series, more details are always appreciated.
This latest morsel of information comes from an event held by Nintendo Latin America, where it reportedly showed off some traditional Mexican-inspired clothing options that will be featured in New Horizons (thanks, GoNintendo).
According to a post on Reddit, the dress on display (see above) is a "Vestido de China Poblana" – an outfit from the Mexican state of Puebla. The same Reddit user (adanfime) also noted:
It will be the first game in the series to be translated into a more general Latin American spanish, rather than using the European Spanish.
Twitter user @ RaccoonRants also showed some of the official images shared by Nintendo. As you can see below, there's a football kit on display and more screens of the dress:
Are you looking forward to being stranded on your own desert island when Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrives next year? Tell us in the comments.

It's pretty adorable.
Oh my, Latin American localization? Yes please!
My chicken soup for the soul cannot come soon enough!
So cute! That seniorita outfit is definitely a must for my female villager.
But Pocket Camp already uses Mexican slang and phrases <_<
This is a cute lil touch but I'm just glad in general it's about frickin' time they seem to let you pick different skin tones without having to resort to that bs 'tanning' mess.
Is it just me or did they change their noses from previously showed footage? I do not remember the villager's noses sticking out like that before... looks really nice though
@Chibi_Manny They're completely new nose shapes. The guy has an oval nose, while the girl has a square one.
The playable character has always had a triangle nose in the previous games, so I wasn't expecting this kind of change at all. Whether these are restricted to the two faces shown in the screenshots, replace the old/original nose entirely, or we're getting nose customization options remains to be seen.
its so neat, it makes me hope stuff like events and items arent region locked this time. id love for AC to just be a mix of everything
Just another reminder that Christmas is ruined because of the AC delay.
Life is a bleak wasteland of disappointment.
@JHDK time flies like the dickens for me, so I'm not too worried 😂
So looking forward to this Game. I put in over 500 hour into ACNL on the 3DS, will no doubt I will triple that on the switch
I saw La Isla Bonita from that guy's hat.
This is adorable too, and customized characters mean you can truly give a mexican vibe to it all rather than hear people cry cultural appropriation, like some did with Mario.
@Welshland oh boy and I just bought it
Super excited, thank you NL for posting this!
The image where he is fishing with the cap is very "low" to the ground. I wonder what camera perspectives we can expect.
This game just keeps looking better
Great to see some love for my Mexico.
This looks so good...March seem a long way off.
Ummm... This is cultural appropriation, and I am deeply offended.
Jk, this is awesome and I'm glad we're able to explore different cultures clothing in this game, that'll be super fun!
@johnvboy It will soon be here buddy and we can go back to invading each others land again
@Taffy I love AC one of my favourite games, it perfect for the commute back and forth to work and when you have a spare half hour to kill.
Could care less, but it's neat I guess.
@Welshland,
Can't wait buddy.
@Belatarr saludos desde monterrey compadre!!
from the screenshot can tell a lot more detail has been added since E3 as March gets closer it's just gonna look even better :3
@Taffy I pre-downloaded it too just gotta wait for release now
Latin American translation?
Ahora si estamos hablando! Que sea Marzo ya!
@CodyMKW Isn't HHD a spin-off? I don't remember caring to play it much to recall if there was an option. Either way, I'm surprised they were so late to the party on that and I'm glad that it's finally here in the main game.
@CodyMKW I didn't expect a back and forth on this, but mind linking me to where they said it's a main series game? Everywhere I've checked has it listed as a spin-off.
This pic was even posted to Nintendo's Facebook page:
@CodyMKW Nah mate, was referring to the 3DS, had some spare gold coins and got it at a decent discount
@Welshlad fancy joining forces in getting a (decent) rugby game on the switch maybe spam one of those devs
Random fact! In the European version of FE The Sacred Stones one of the characters, Prince Innes (the one that looks like Seto Kaiba) has a different name if you set it to Spanish: James. This is because in Spain 'Inés' is a female name.
Unfortunately the US release only has one language, so Latin American players could only play it in English, I find Euro Spanish a bit bothersome, especially back then when it was harder to look up certain words, but is obviously better than a completely different language.
