@JR150 I like the Xbox one avatar, Blu-ray, limited backwards compatibility (woot rumble roses xx) and web browser. Wireless Controllers aren't $80 neither, and no switch tax for more expensive games with weaker ports like overwatch due to a weaker system; bloodstained port slowdown on switch was embarrassing. Black Friday was a win for me, though I admit song has better backwards compatibility. I had no idea I could differentiate the xbone shooters honestly. Just hate wasting time installing bad games lol but the Xbox 360 4 gig can't even install one fame so it could be worse; almost suckered into it.
Fils-Aime is half right; same as it always was with day one dlc nowadays. PlayStation portable had annoying load times though I admit It had some fun. 3ds did blow the Vita out the water I admit; Vita was too damn expensive and no real reason to upgrade from psp. Not gonna pay for a system for some stupid crossplay with something I already have, or some controller.
I do feel the switch is better as a party system lol 8 player smash or party golf is insane. Ready yeah celebration alone sold me on super Mario party. Nintendo had a terrible black Friday for the system compared to stuff being $100 off though sales were good, even the 3ds had a ton.
Just wish I could use gold points for pennies on 3ds as switch, and platinum for switch sales. Do feel the Xbox bonuses to get sales is bs.
There's good and bad to be found in all apparently.
@Elvie nope, and they could always do comics/mangas for stuff they won't make games of. Just 2 steps forward, one step back, just like with black friday lol.
PS4/Xbox one s are cheaper on black friday and used than used switch lites which at best are like $20 cheaper online, with hardly any black friday benefits, let alone bundles of games. That is insane, let alone switch lacks backwards compatibility. I know of the Mario kart 8 on regular switch but that's small potatoes. PS4 had a 3 game bundle and xbone has star wars jedi fallen order which is very recent. Then of course the pro/x for the high rollers for even better graphics. Don't wanna lay behind another bloodstained.
Do admit 3ds is better than previous gens, convoluted Xbox 360 4 gb that needs a hard drive outta the gate is pointless. Installation times a pain too.
@Ainz yeah superhero/show fatigue (DC had over 20 year of the villain comics these past 2 weeks and I swore off it, and when Marvel had a buncha monthly movies I was tired of it too). Could you imagine everyone getting a spinoff game/series like Bowser Jr, Waluigi (though some petition for him in Smash lol), Daisy, and Ridley?
I'd recommend the mario maker games for kids honestly. Help them get creative. I liked using RPG Maker when I was a teen and adult, and it was a lotta fun thinking about storylines and battle systems. We're at an age of game engines, and democratized user-generated content too, though the 3ds version kinda goofed (though you can download Wii U levels which is a saving grace, as well as local for a party event), and the switch needs nintendo online I believe.
Mario and Zelda comics were cool, and they should make another F-Zero series (that anime was legendary). I know Metroid had its manga fans too, and Fire Emblem has a ton of mangas.
Do feel Miyamoto is overreaching though, but nothing to lose I suppose given the switch sold so well, and smash bros update for Terry (and don't forget Kirby makes a DLC mirror match) makes the fighter's pass mandatory.
@Jayenkai yeah lol some may stay away if a kid overspent on Mario Kart Tour on mobile. At least make Wario rip off the kiddies lol surprised he hasn't had the microgames there as it is a precursor to mobile, with throwaway quick games one will delete.
@Ooccoo_Jr yeah I liked the marvel comic book. I got giant man and a buncha others. Fun idea for these fat toys. But yeah game on switch lite is apparently tsumthing terrible surprised not in the review lol too easy.
@OorWullie no Mikhail war no peace. I can't believe they didn't say that. Does octopath traveler have some rich guy you go to war (simplified Suikoden army vs army based on defense aka morale before charging for the kill) as troops hassle you for money!? I think not. You also habe a treasure trove of weapons. No idea what they mean by quality of life but there is a lot left out from the exit town button, save when not in battle, auto recover go after battle, and adventurer's log that explains events in detail. I read they mentioned slow text, which is true but Battles don't have 40 second summon as ff7/8 have.
If you want I can give you more details they left out. They just mad they didn't git guud like I did.
Basically only issues i have is that most of the characters have a similar story: Julian, Thomas, Sara and Ellen are very similar. Katarina (lost sword) and Khalid (black guy called Harid/Hallid in fan translation, with alter egos El Noor and Tornado is a Greg Bison epic level always get paid first type of mantra) have separate adventures, Mikhail is nation building (tax the hell outta them and let's make war), and Monica (Mikhail's sister) I believe is similar to the first 4 but probably has a slight difference.
Basically there's a bit of a class theme with the first 4 (commoners) and last 4 (Katarina is a noble who cuts her bair to quest after her legendary stolen sword, Mikhail da king, Khalid a Merc, though they called his Kamsheen a Demilune damn that is sad L/R goof, and Monica is a princess I believe needing protection by a vampire, uh oh).
Its on sale now, watch a few vids and find a favorite character worth trying this.
@SpicyBurrito16 waiting for a pokemon based off it lol we got stuff based off trash and ice cream, so why not a mouse pointer or computer mouse? Attacks can be volt tackle, double team (power of right clicking), minimize, and fury swipes (with a clicker spinoff).
@tendonerd it does seem unique and better than they state, I probably would've been better judged on its own. Though yeah river city fatigue i get. Between underground and a bunch of others, let alone cheaper stuff than even the $13 they want, it can be a hard sell. I'm a little disappointed with streets of rage 4 if it's true you can't run/roll.
@WomboCombo feels like a fake randomness sometimes. Plus everyone acts like it is innovative when it isn't. FF5 ancient cave hack and Lufia 2 show it's been there forever.
@Ralek85 I am good with Mario, from maker to sports. I guess instead of your mileage may vary, its your genre. Though Mario rpg attacks take too long these days.
@Wavey84 that's sad lol guess even the fight'n rage knockoff will be better. You can even parry. Do have to git guud after level 7. I'll probably get stay cool Kobayashi San. Feels out there like ninja baseball Batman with the UFO.
@jump lol even weight gaming does better stuff. Not safe for work nor the kiddies lol. Even a fat hack like stardew valley or visual novels. This reminds me of onion ring fat sonic hack lol good for a laugh or deviantart tastes. Mobile even has a feed usagi game probably from the ep Sailor Moon felt fat. One of the rare better cases of localization as weight is more sensitive in the US and more policed in Japan.
Anyone else fatigued with metroidvanias and roguelikes/lites a dime a dozen these days? Lol police stories kinda counts given you'll die but I love all the judgments made to get a high enough score to unlock the next level, and it's optional. I think that, bloodstained, zengeon and iconoclasts kinda spoiled me from this subgenre.
Apple knight amd unbroken Soul are fun on mobile; no randomness needed a la angry birds 2 lol
@bolt05 $30 and no battle pics, bottom had a menu and some work type in a battle map I guess. I'll stick with romancing saga 3 woot i learned Mikhail war the fan translation didn't explain though this had minimal tutorials. Still happy to win after 20 years.
Probably why no female Terry too lol. So many would pause and move the camera up the skirt/down shirt. I'm good with wii fit trainer honestly gonna do some sun salutations as tribute. Whew felt the burn there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIbsBOh5HhI
@Don never lol shining force 3 with all 3 scenarios has a better chance of being remade to the west. Same with Dragon Force 2. Legend of Legaia also had you learn mid-battle kinda (leveling up magic and inputting proper commands).
Surprised they didn't mention that romancing saga 3 lets you quickly exit a house/town at the literal push of a button. It makes traveling so much faster. I preferred the japanese wazas, or technique name, over sparking lol that was Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi japanese name.
@Tourer145 Celestian Tales Old North also had a buncha characters too. I do sometimes wonder if being behind about 25 years can be such a detriment as these days everybody and their brother is making games. Playing as different characters is quite common from roguelike, action (Trials of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 3), and strategy rpg's to obviously Pokemon/MMO's.
I went all in, and Kirby becomes so much fun when you set the computer or opponents play as DLC; love the metal slug songs. Kirby Hero and Terry are a lotta fun. Final smashing, all the extra songs, the invisible wall stage, and of course chanting (I know H-E-R-O and his 4 random skill moves down/b including an occasional heal, so it's not time consuming as I feared). Rising tackle is hilarious and great idea to recover.
0:28 in vid lol "I asked her to teach me everything she knew." That better be the damn composer of street fighter 2, Yoko Shimomura. Otherwise it's just rewriting history to be feminist at the cost of "toxic masculinity". 1:06 they cucked him in the end. Wow that's just sad, I do pity those who get arrogant from not being challenged, or needing to be narcissists, at the center all the time.
@Paraka the article didn't even mention features: command input, weak/strong versions of moves, and 50 songs in the DLC. I get it's background info, but still, once I saw smash bros dlc, I expected to find that info without having to skip through the vid. It's an easy must buy, especially if you saw the kirby version and ice climbers glitch.
At least they did this early rather than rip people off a la mighty no 9 (still no 3ds copy nor contact to switch to PC) or Zold:Out (2 weeks open beta online only this year, and once they close you can't play; 2nd beta wasn't even in English).
@Severian Created the platform fighter genre. Nice collection too. So much better than the tiny 3ds version that didn't even have a level creator, and of course way too many sword fighters.
@somebread Really? Some like raticate and vileplume? Did think the bit of let's go being childish was funny. Not like we had a game to research Pokemon like professor oak lol would be a fun brain age crossover.
@sanderev Based on genre. I'd say lost frontier is as good as wargroove outside the custom downloadable levels.
Puzzle, strategy (pro strategy football is best on mobile), and retro RPGs/roguelikes can be done pretty well. I feel final fantasy dimensions was better than Chrono trigger, sequel obviously worse than Chrono Cross 😂.
