Re: Saber Interactive Set To Boost Switch Porting Business With Acquisitions

Mr-Fuggles777

@Clyde_Radcliffe Alien Isolation is a 360 game and that doesn't run very well on newer consoles (it's actually better on switch than XsX) which is the issue if all games were built using the older Switch tech first.

Immortals FR was built with the switch in mind and that still runs horribly, I couldn't even finish it on switch as it was that bad it gave me motion sickness.

What the Switch does it does well, but if you want the newer games that run well and look good you need another console to supplement the Switch.

Mr-Fuggles777

@Haruki_NLI it's not just a case of upscaling the graphics though.

Compare Monster Hunter Rise to World, World has much larger open areas and allows for much larger lobbies online.

Large open world games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla wouldn't be the same as Switch is unable to render large groups of enemies and open landscapes in such intricate detail - look how empty BotW and Pokemon Legends are.

The switches recent exclusives don't even hit High Definition so imagine how crude they would look upscaled to 4k

Re: Saber Interactive Set To Boost Switch Porting Business With Acquisitions

Mr-Fuggles777

@Clyde_Radcliffe I disagree.

I would hate to have games crippled in size and scope just to fit on 1 handheld system.
If you want the big AAA games than buy an Xbox or PlayStation and keep the Switch for the exclusives.

The switch can't run last gen games optimally (it took Doom Eternal an extra year of development time and it still only runs atv30FPSz and look at how poorly Apex looks/runs) so what chance does it have of running newer games that are targeting native 4k or 120FPS without designated porting teams to dumb them down accordingly.

@Anti-Matter it's not just about the graphics it's lack of detail in the Pokemon and environments as well as lack of draw distance.

The world is barren and if that's ok for you then good, but after playing last gen games like Ghost of Tushima and FarCry 5 (I'm not even going to use current gen examples as that's not fair on the Switch) this just looks bland and boring. If they wanted a more cell shaded look then why not go for something like what Borderlands does - not that I expect you have played or even looked at any of those games because you can't play them with a dance mat and they have adult themes.

@VoidofLight Games like BotW, which people hold up on a platter has the same issues when it comes to rock and ground textures

BotW was a launch title, its crazy that it is still held as a benchmark and shows how little the switchbas a console has developed.

Look at current gen launch titles - Demons Souls (PS5) and The Medium (XsX). What's the chances that people will be comparing games with these once the systems have been on the Market for 4 years?

Ryse was an absolutely stunning game on release of the Xb1 but how many people used it as a comparison benchmark towards the end of the consoles lifespan? No one, because it had been surpassed as Devs get to grips with the hardware and managed to get more from it.

On Switch, the quality of games are actually dropping year on year. Ask anyone what there top 5 games are and I can pretty much guarantee that 2 or 3 of them would be launch titles or ports.

Pokemon Legends is just another example of games that doesn't hold up to modern console graphical standards.

It's just a shame as the game has promise. I'm stopping replying now as I'm bored of going around in circles, you are obviously blinded by the licence.

Re: New Pokémon Legends: Arceus Footage Introduces The Hisui Region

Mr-Fuggles777

@jtmnm Breath of the Wild was a launch title, Pokemon Legends has had 4 years for the Devs to get to grips with the hardware and still release a game that looks like it was from a much older console.

Historically, games have always looked better as a console ages (compare gears 1 to gears 3) not get progressively worse.

Re: Soapbox: The Term 'Indie' Is Losing Meaning, But Maybe That's A Positive Sign

Mr-Fuggles777

Gamepass is doing an Amazing job for Indy games and giving them a platform where people can try them risk free.
I've played (and subsequently bought DLC/MTX) games on there that I have passed over hundreds of times on Switch because I didn't want to waste money on something I may not like.

The Switch does an ok job of hosting smaller profile games, but the E-Shop is a mess and it's difficult to sort out the gems from the stupid amount of shovelware and tat - I've been burned way too many times now to waste money on anything that isn't a Nintendo exclusive and I play all of the smaller "Indy" games on Xbox or PlayStation where they are cheaper/free.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 14th)

Mr-Fuggles777

Hades, I've had the Switch version for ages but never got around to playing it as I'm not a fan of roguelike games but will finally give it a shot as it looks gorgeous in 4k.

I can put my unopened Cart on ebay now - its currently selling for a lot more than I paid for it, which is one good thing with Switch games

Re: Round Up: Here Are The First "Hands-On" Impressions Of The Nintendo Switch OLED

Mr-Fuggles777

@Specter_of-the_OLED the fact you are comparing a brand new console.with ones that are 10+ years old shows how behind the Switch is.

A 2021 Console that struggles to hit native 720p and hold a steady 30fps is just a joke. Look at SMT5, it barely holds up to 360 and PS3 resolutions at a time when the rest of the industry is aiming for 1440p or 4k.

The Oled Switch is nearly £100 more expensive than a Series S - which wouldn't be so bad if the native Switch games actually performed well on the system (MHR, Mario Golf, AoC)

Re: No More Heroes 3 Footage Showcases Open World Segments

Mr-Fuggles777

This looks horrible, Travis doesn't even look connected to the ground.

Normally on year 4&5 of a consoles life span you start getting games that are pushing the technology, but on Switch we are getting games that look like knock off Wii games.
Lollipop Chansaw looked better than this with less pop in and framerate issues back on the 360!!!
