Re: Random: Team Xbox Has A Bit Of A Soft Spot For Paper Mario On GameCube

Mr-Fuggles777

@NEStalgia totally agree with everything you said.

Ive always been a Microsoft and Nintendo gamer, but I dropped Xbox last gen as the XB1 didn't really have much support so I jumped across to Sony and Nintendo.

The Mrs got me the Series S just because it was so cheap and it would keep me going until I could get hold of a PS5.
I was so happy with it thst I ended up picking up a Series X for the big TV and dropped the idea of a PS5 for now.

I moved the S up to my bedroom and it's amazing that I can be playing a game downstairs, turn it off and pick up exactly where I left off in bed in a matter of minutes - then if I need the toilet I can cast it to my phone and continue playing my game. It's everything I need from the Switch without any of the Compromises or excessive pricing structure.

I've owned every Nintendo console since the SNES but I have become increasingly disillusioned with their business practice and anti consumer approach this gen. It could just be that the competitors have evolved and Nintendo have stayed behind which makes them come across as so backwards thinking.

Its a shame that I love their IP's so much, I think I'm in a Stockholm relationship with them lol.

Re: Random: Team Xbox Has A Bit Of A Soft Spot For Paper Mario On GameCube

Mr-Fuggles777

@NEStalgia if the next iteration of the switch isn't at least backwards compatible with my digital library that will be the end of my support for Ninteno and will be the first of their consoles I don't buy.
I'm sick of buying the same handful of games repeatedly and getting shafted on price this gen.

Microsoft is giving full access to a large library of your previous gen games (when I picked up my Series S, I instantly had over 300 games ready to install without even looking at gamepass), along with the free next gen upgrades to games purchased on last gen hardware.
Nintendo charges you full price if you want to access your last gen games library on current hardware with minimal QoL improvements.

Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime Trilogy For Switch Ready To Go, According To Industry Insider

Mr-Fuggles777

I cant see them releasing a prime Trilogy. MP 3 would have to be completely redone, it was built for the Wii's motion control and I'm sure Nintendo would want full price for that kind of work (cough, cough #Skyward Sword).

It would also be a tough sell having the first 2 on 1 cart and then a separate full price release for Corruption. £100-£120 for the Trilogy would put most buyers off

Re: Random: Team Xbox Has A Bit Of A Soft Spot For Paper Mario On GameCube

Mr-Fuggles777

Gamecube was always my favourite console but I think the Series X has now over-taken it for me.
Microsoft are killing if this gen with how easy it is to access your old games library along with all free FPS boosts and upgrades.

Its a shame that Nintendo didn't offer backwards compatibility as Switch could have been the best console on the market, but their greed and over reliance on reselling the same products at an inflated premium has really killed my love of the company this gen.

Re: Metroid Dread Producer Hopes Fans Look Forward To "Future Episodes" Once The Current Story Arc Concludes

Mr-Fuggles777

@link3710 it's not that being 2D makes it worth less, it's just when you compare it with whats readily available a metroidvania isn't on the same scale as something like BotW or other AAA games. Ori, iconoclasts and Hollow Knight were all under £20 so will Dread include 3x more content?
Would you have paid £50 for Bloodstained and been happy with the value if it had the Castlevania licence for example?

Nintendo's pricing structure is just crazy in general. Look at the SS remake, that's the same price that EA (one of the greediest publishers) was able to release Mass Effect Legendary.

Re: EA Is Bringing Another Legacy Edition Of FIFA To Nintendo Switch

Mr-Fuggles777

@nhSnork regardless of what "generation" it fits into, its still 2 consoles behind the others in terms of raw power so we won't see the same games coming across - Its not worth the additional development time as third party games not selling that well on Switch.

Monster Hunter Rise didn't even make the top 10 best seller list and that was an exclusive AAA game. Doom and Witcher 3 aren't even in the top 43 even though Doom Eternal cost the publishers an extra year of development time.

Re: Soapbox: Super Metroid Showed Me I Had The Right To Exist

Mr-Fuggles777

Another article designed to generate clicks through the inevitable arguments - do the authors get a percentage of the add revenue I wonder.

Samus seems an odd choice as a female role model when her gender is literally only used as fan service by Nintendo - probably one of the least inclusive gaming companies going.

Re: Video: Are 2D Games Worth $60? Jon, Alex And Zion Share Their Own Thoughts

Mr-Fuggles777

This is literally just a bait article to generate clicks and revenue (which is becoming more common on NL recently) and I fall for it everytime.

In order to assess if a game is "worth" the RRP you really need to look at other games in its genre and compare game stats as well as retail price.
Simply compare price points of every 2d metroidvania over the last five years and see how it fits up with Nintendo's pricing for Metroid.
People look at Hollow Knight and say "well its made by 3 people so it shouldn't cost the same as a AAA title". To that I'm going to say, how much work would those 3 people have put in to turn out such a well crafter game? Less staff just means more man hours per person as well as a wider skill set (they had to multi task after all), does that work mean less just because they didn't have a big publisher throwing money at them to secure a larger team?

Nintendo fans have gotten so used to being scalped by the company they have started actively defending the practice - its effectivly gaming stockholm syndrome.
This is also why I don't feel any remorse buying up limited edition Nintendo pre orders just to sell at an inflated price - if its ok for Nintendo to do this, its definitely OK for me.

Re: Destroy All Humans! Launches Today On Switch, And Europe Gets Two Expensive Special Editions

Mr-Fuggles777

@Dirty0814 I haven't played on my PlayStation for a while so can't say about recent games but a lot of the classic remakes/ports released at a reduced rate - Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted collection, Skyrim and Wipeout.
A lot of the other remakes like Last of Us and FF7 have also been given away with PS+.

When was the last time Nintendo released a budget version of an older game/port?

Re: Crysis Remastered Is Getting A Physical Version On Switch

Mr-Fuggles777

@BloodNinja being corridor shooters instead of open world really help with the narrative as well as making better use of the armour powers - I hardly ever went invisible in the first game as you could just spam armour using hit n run tactics between charges.

I suppose they felt more like "blockbusters" where you went from one set piece to another at a breakneck speed.
That kind of game also lends itself to a late night session, where you can hit a few bowls before going to shoot aliens and bad army guys without having to put a lot of thought into it and just get carried away in the spectacle. Open world games I tend to just walk around in circles and get bored if I'm under the influence.

Re: Overwatch 2 Is Still Coming To Switch, But Blizzard Will Have To Make "Some Compromises"

Mr-Fuggles777

If a dev can't match the framerate with a native port on Switch then just do a cloud version instead.
Who would be playing Overwatch without a stable Internet connection in the first place and locking it at 30 FPS puts switch players at a huge disadvantage.

I was convinced to start playing Paladins by some people in my Clan and was loving it on Xbox, so thought I would download it on switch to play In bed as it had cross play - It's like a completely different game. Graphically it doesn't look to bad but dropping to 30FPS from 120 gave me a massive headache and I turned it off.

Re: Scalpers Set Their Sights On The Shin Megami Tensei V Premium Edition

Mr-Fuggles777

I only really see this problem with Nintendo products, I've never had any issue securing copies of limited/collector's editions of games on any other system.

Are they manufactured in smaller amounts to ensure they get snapped up to guarantee sales by creating an artificial scarcity - They don't care if it's a reseller or a collector that buys as they get paid either way.

Re: Review: Mario Golf: Super Rush - A Solid Swing, But Par For The Course

Mr-Fuggles777

Our copies will be arriving tomorrow but I have lost interest in this game the closer to release we have gotten.

Nintendo games used to be solid om Day but have become increasingly dated as technology has moved forward. why not include a party option in multiplayer? I want to be able to bitch and moan at my friends when I'm losing and having a bad round, without having to mess around with Discord or the stupid app and hoping my phone maintains charge.

Re: Sword And Shield Leakers Required To Pay The Pokémon Company $150K Each

Mr-Fuggles777

@MajinSoul you stated that "If you want the legal system to work, you can't make exceptions based on personal bias".

Are you now saying that it's OK to break the law in some circumstances - if that's the case who gets to decide what laws are ok to break and for what reason?
I'm not getting into a social political debate here, but ultimately if someone enters a country illegally they are a criminal and should be held to account - the same as someone who steals because they are hungry.
