@driftydrift you do realise you don't have to pay upfront for a console, look at what Microsoft offers with Xbox All Access, and most retailers offer interest free or low interest credit towards more expensive products.

@Joeynator3000 the new TV's are QLED, I'm currently trying to convince the Mrs we need to upgrade ready for when I can grab a PS5.

With the recent galaxy phones able to play games at 1080 and above at 60-120FPS why don't Samsung and Nintendo use those as a basis for the switch.
Compare PUBG running on an S20 vs a Switch running Apex and the Comparisons are laughable.

I wouldn't mind paying more if it could run games more smoothly with no Compromises - you pay between £800-£1000 for a phone every year or 2 afterall.
What's the point in keeping the switch at a budget price when it can't keep up with last gen!

This will likely be more common moving forward as games get bigger and larger carts eat further into publishers profit margins.
There isn't even incentive for them to release it on a smaller cart with an additional download, as social media erupts in shouts of boycot and majority of people saying they won't buy it.

@Trajan much happier since I've been away from it, it's just a really toxic echo chamber where people flock to hear there own views repeated rather than to debate and look at issues from other points of view.

@nessisonett it all started with me posting in a vegan sub pics of me washing my cat with vegan friendly shampoo, and then saying they couldn't use these brands now as its been tested on animals - and the shenanigans kind of escalated from there

@Aguy711 I've tried and they keep getting blocked with a notice saying "this account has been permanently suspended from reddit". I even created a new email address and that account was banned within 24 hours.
Its not the end of the world as it was a massive timesink anyway.

@Wilforce that's not great for people who can't access Reddit.
I'm banned from the site (after a particularly heated debate) so couldn't post there even if I wanted to.

@Tipehtfomottob Overcooked has been banned in our house for that same reason.
Its a shame that there was never anyone in the online lobbies as it just wasn't that much fun solo, so unless this has better one support I will likely give it a miss.

Its ok but got repetitive ​quickly and I really wish I had bought it for another console, its really blurry on switch and gave me headaches.
I will probably pick the gold edition when I see it cheap in an Xbox or PlayStation sale.

@Doktor-Mandrake I sold my Xbox after gears 4 and nothing else was announced so I've got a few titles to catch up on. I also love how I can try new games with GamePass I would normally take a chance on and I dont need to worry about buying new games as they are already free (with the subscription)

Saying that, if you have a PC you already have access to the service so an Xbox would definitely be surplus to requirement.

@Doktor-Mandrake there's definitely performance improvements on the Series S like massively reduced (to almost non existent) load times and increased Framerates upto 120FPS.
Destiny 2 now runs at 60 FPS on Series S and the load times have been drastically cut back and Gears 5 runs at 1440p and 120FPS online. For less money than a switch I definitely can't complain

One drawback is that most optimised game don't run at 4k on Series S but as I havnt bought a 4k TV yet that isn't a problem.

This looks great but I'm a sucker for anything Cat related.

@anoyonmus I don't see the point patching it when it's still going to run at 30FPS. I would think that if Panic Button could have got it stable they would have before release.

It doesn't surprise me, if people are willing to pay then people will look to turn a profit.
Look how many people dropped real world money for Raymond and NMT when AC first dropped.

@anoyonmus it was already delayed 6 months, I take it this is as good as they could get it to run.

I just wish Developers would spend time working on new games that runs well on the hardware, instead of trying to cash in on the ports that can never catch up with how they perform elsewhere.

@samuraicop unfortunately Gaming is a hobby and sometimes you need to make choices. Why not pick up Mario 3D Allstars now and grab Monstee Hunter further down the line as that is always going to be available.

I will be more annoyed if Nintendo do a U-turn and release these games in another form after March 31st. I literally only bought bought 3D Allstars because it was a limited product (and I got dragged I to the hype). I'm not even a fan of the Mario games and had already played and got bored of all 3 games, I would never have picked it up without FOMO.

I love the hypocrisy in the switch community, where you find the same people simultaneously defending the poor performance of ports like Apex on current hardware whilst also clamouring for an upgraded or revised model.
If you are happy with how these games run on the current switch, why do you need a new console?

@COVIDberry I live close to Chester which was a fortified Roman City so growing up with the history I've always been fascinating by the culture (although not to the extent of actually digging up artefacts, I'm far to lazy for that sort of physical exercise.)
I'm Welsh so also have the luxury of saying they were unable to conquer my country, neither were the Vikings who also set up camp in Chester after the Romans left.

@russell-marlow as a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass I strongly disagree.
I'm not particularly bothered that I don't "own" a game, I have a constantly expanding library of titles to play - including all Xbox exclusives on day 1.
I personally don't see the infatuation with having to "have" a game, I've always traded a game after I've completed it anyway for something new - I already spend around £100 a month on games (and comics), I would dread to think what it would go up to if I didn't trade in.
With gamepass I can play more for less, as well as try games I didn't want to risk wasting money on - I've recently 100% both Ori games and absolutely loved every second but can hand on heart say they wouldn't have been worth the £70 entry price (£35 each) if I had to pay for them.

This is such a great collaboration.

I'm probably going to get shot down again but why didn't they do a Comparison video of the game in motion - that's where the visual fidelity is going matter, if you cant see your opponents because of poor draw distance what chance do you have online.
I would also like to see some handheld screen captures considering that's how most people are going to play this on Switch.

@Arkay this got my back up after the interview yesterday with Panic Button, saying they were able to port the game across with no compromises or sacrifices for it to drop at sub HD textures.
I'm not expecting 4k 120FPS but these resolutions are a joke, I'm more shocked that people are happy about it.

@Ganner it annoys me to see people going on like these ports are the best thing since sliced bread when they way under perfrom in pretty much every way when compared to what's already available.

Its like having a 5 guys burger with all the toppings (and extra peanut butter) to eat in or a sad mcdonald's cheeseburger that you can take away, and people freaking out because you can eat one out of the wrapper.
Not the best analogy as I've eaten 5 guys on the go but you get my drift.

@ModdedInkling @HamatoYoshi I play my xbox handheld all the time using either Xcloud or Remote Play (depending if I'm in the house or not) and my Razor Kishi controller.
I was playing Gears 5 last Night in bed and it looked gorgeous and ran buttery smooth so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have issues playing Apex that way.

@pixelpatch we haven't seen any gameplay videos yet, it will be interesting to see what DF makes of it.

@pixelpatch a 2 year old game can't even run at 720p on Switch and you are defending it as a good thing? I also grew up with Low Definition graphics, doesn't mean to say I want to see them in a current big release.

What's the point in everyone freaking out over a new Oled screen when new releases can't even hit the top specs of the existing model.

Its just shocking people are happy with sub HD visual and such a low framerate for a fast paced shooter.
Although if they only own a switch they probably won't know any better and will undoubtedly rave that it's the best running game ever.

@Northwind I suppose its something they will look at, but while these practice keep making money they will continue in one form or another.
The only time I really buy MtX are when I get the game for free so GamePass or PS+ etc.

@Northwind all EA will do to combat this legislation (if it passes) is simply sell the players in open packs - with players that have better stats costing more money.
The game is already pay to win so no one who keeps dropping money on it is going to care and will keep buying regardless.

@noutBr when we used to play PTCG or Magic it used to cost us a fortune, but agree you get the cards to play with and can trade/sell the spares.

Saying that I've spent well over £100 on most decks I've played (more on some), it's why we stopped - you were constantly chasing the meta and having to throw out full decks after a rotation. It didn't help that there were 2 of us playing as well.

I've never understood the mentally that these loot boxes are bad. They are exactly the same as collector's cards or sticker books in my opinion - my nephew spent more trying to finish his panini book last year than he did on MtX in both Fifa and Fortnite - which is actually terrifying considering how much he drops on fornite skins.

I love how Panic Button said there were no sacrifices made in porting Apex and then it turns out it doesn't even run in HD when playing handheld.
What is the point in porting these kind of games when they look and perform so badly, I feel sorry for Switch only gamers when they are trying hard to justify this is ok.

For all those people who say Gyro is going to make up for it, it really isn't with this kind of twitch gaming. A lot of people use mouse and keyboard on other consoles, which is far superior to motion controls for fast paced FPS.

@suikoden it's the toxicity that makes it so fun, you don't have to feel guilty when you steal people's stuff as you know they are just as awful as you and would do the same in a heartbeat.
Its the only game I've genuinely heard people cry when you grief them lol.

I've heard that Rust is coming to console soon, would rather see a switch port of that than Valheim.

@JonnyD108 runs at 60 on PS4 it just didn't run smooth all the time. I havnt played in a while so no idea how it runs now with patches.

@TheFrenchiestFry a 50% drop to framerate is a pretty big sacrifice to gameplay.
If the switch only runs at 30FPS what chance do the players have when going up against those running it at double or quadruple (60/120) frame rates?

@Rohanrocks88 a lot of people play this using a keyboard and mouse on Xbox so the gyro isn't going to be much of an advantage, whereas the reduced FoV and visual fidelity is really going to put switch players at a disadvantage - thats before you take into account new gen consoles running at 120FPS.
I feel sorry for people who have never played this before coming in at season 8 against the sweats who have been grinding for 2 years. Its definitely going to have a steep learning curve.
