I will grab the Amiibo and once I've completed the game will just sell it on, I don't collect them or want plastic tat kicking around the house. That's better than having to pay for DLC If you ask me.
@DeclanS98 this looks like its taking a lot from the Underworld Boardgames (which are amazing small scale skirmish games). I didn't play Mechanicas, but it looked to me like a Diablo style dungeon crawler in the 40k universe.
Hopefully this will have voice chat on Switch if it's crossplay. I couldn't imagine playing this sort of game in silence, it would get boring quickly.
@screechums I assume you don't buy anything from stores either, they have marked up the price on all of their stock.
Its supply and demand, I only get a limited amount of money to spend on hobbies each month - buying and selling this amiibo means I can effectively get SS for free leaving my money intact for other stuff like comic books or boardgames. If Nintendo didn't create false scarcity, these wouldn't jump in price and I wouldn't waste the time to buy, resell and post the amiibo.
I also buy old furniture and renovate it before selling for a profit, does this make me douche bag as well. Or is it only when it comes to buying and selling toys?
I would love gamepass on Switch, although I would imagine it would be closer to the mobile version than the PC or Console.
Saying that, I would happily stream games like Outer Worlds and Doom Eternal via Xcloud if it meant I could play them on the switch without having to put up with the poor performance of the Switch versions.
@Ulysses well maybe if the switch had more power we wouldn't be stuck waiting for ports of 20 year old games and I wouldn't have to moan about it would I.
@Ulysses you are obviously missing my point - which for whatever reason this port needed more development time for switch than any other system.
I went back and read through my comments and I never mentioned the switches power restrictions as a reason. I merely said that it couldn't handle having a 30 year old game ported to it without needing extra time - this is exactly what has happened.
@Ulysses at least use the full sentence if you are going to misquote me. If the switch can't even handle that without needing extra development time
The switch obviously can't handle having a game cube era game getting ported without the need for extra development time. This is exactly what has happened here regardless of the reason why.
@Ulysses there's nothing really to rush, its a 20 year old game. If the switch can't even handle that without needing extra development time what hope have we got moving forward?
My wife and I are really looking forward to this, Toadstool tour was one of our most playes Cube games.
I'm hoping that it has pass the controller/ switch multiplayer as I don't really want to buy 2 copies for our Lites - if that's the case will wait and pick them up pre owned to stop Nintendo getting any money after being so greedy.
Playing Zombie Army 4 in-between cramming as many easy 1k indy games in before the 10k punchcard runs out - doubt I will get much chance for Switch games.
@anoyonmus switch is £280 and Series S is £250. The switch Lite is cheapest coming in at £200.
The switch is also a gen behind Xbx1 and PS4 with a "pro" model likely to bring the switch up to base ps4 level when everything else will move forward once current gen systems become more available.
I'm not sure about Halo as I've just downloaded them all so haven't really looked. Might check it out when I need to make space.
@cdmac the old game ran on the 360 but I doubt the remake would. Its 4k/30fps or 1440/60fps even without going into the other improvements, not to mention that the original game out in 2007 - anyone who wants to play it has done so already.
If you want to play these big modern games/reboots buy another console to go alongside the switch (a series S is cheaper than a switch). I would hate for games to be held back just so that they could run on old hardware.
I will try this on Xbox as its coming Day 1 on gamepass. Looks fun but definitely should have been F2P if they are pushing season passes so heavily - I can see this going the same way as Rocket Arena.
@kingbk the Mass Effect Trilogy is over 80gb and if it could run on Switch EA would have got it onto the system because they like money.
@Magician I don't really care about collecting at all, I've only got about 30 physical switch games and I only have those because they were cheaper than buying them digitally, or ports I've bought pre owned to stop my money going to Nintendo.
@Paraka I'm more of a spontaneous consumer and tend to buy stuff as it appeals to me or grabs my attention. I dislike having to plan pre orders and budget for stuff I have to wait ages for. That £50 is a game or two I can play today, which isn't an issue but I can't buy these games when they are actually released!!
@dmcc0 you used to be able to pay to unlock characters instead of grinding for them. All of the characters were available in game for free if you put the time in.
I fail to see the infatuation people have with this company. They charge way over the odds for indy games whilst creating a scarcity which encourages scalpers. If you miss the pre order window or can't afford it at the time good luck finding a copy later on for a fair price.
I would be happy seeing EA play come to switch, its great value.
It would be pretty cool being able to access their older games like Dead Space, Dantes Inferno, Alice Madness Returns and the Crysis Trilogy on Switch. I cant see the newer games like Battlefield or Fallen Order running unless they offer them on a streaming service.
@anoyonmus @JokerCK I've got it on PlayStation and xbox and definitely haven't payed for it as its not a game I'm particularly interested in. I'm going to finally play it this week as I want the easy 1k gamerscore for my 10k punch card - you can complete it in less than an hour.
I'm more interested in what's coming out for the next gen consoles. Hopefully Nintendo will announce some big first party titles but im not holding my breath for anything other than more ports and indy stuff for switch.
I just want them to open up a couple of extra save slots so that I can have a few islands on the go. I would love to do themed islands like a winter/ice penguin Island.
@Matl And what happens when the eshop inevitably goes down for good
Hopefully Nintendo is going to adopt backwards compatibility moving forward where everything rolls forward and you will always have access to your digital purchases on the newer systems.
I'm probably a little biased atm as I've recently picked up a new Xbox and I'm blown away with how consumer friendly it is. I immediately had access to my old 360 library of over 200 games the handful of Xb1 games I bought before trading the console in and even a few original xbox games I had picked up. Including gamepass I have access to over 600 games without having to take up any shelf space with cases.
@__jamiie I'm pushing 40 and I'm also excited about the evolution of digital gaming. I love the Gamepass model, pay £11 a month and play as many games as I want including new releases on day 1. That is much better value than paying £40-£70 for one game in my book.
"Temporary ownership of something you paid full price for that lasts as long as the company you bought it from decides you can have access to it."
You do realise that this also applies to physical games nowadays, how many games are actually released without requiring a patch? If a company decides to stop supporting those downloads your physical cart effectivly becomes a worthless piece of plastic
@COVIDberry I don't have anything to confess. It's been well established that I'm a Troll, shouting at random people online about stuff they have no control over is par for the course.
@COVIDberry as a "true" metroid fan I have to respectfully disagree with you - all I want is to blast space jellyfish into extinction and ogle clean fully clothed pictures of Samus. I'm also willing to harass any and all game executives until I get my way!!
I'm still having fun playing Second Extinction (even with the random crashes and glitches).
I've also picked up Hades, I just need to get the motivation to play it now as I'm not a fan of rogue-lites.
@Tourtus fair enough, I've always looked at her as a duck which is why I included her lol.
@Snatcher there are also those who grew up in the late 80's and early 90's where pretty much every Saturday Morning cartoon had Anthro animals of some description and loves the artstyle as a result.
@russell-marlow I suppose you are also anti Disney for daring to corrupt kids with furry art by depicting Robin Hood and Maid Marion to be an anthro couple. What about Nintendo who dared to create a Trans anthro character in Birdo or who sexualised animals like Tiffany in Animal Crossing?
As usual when Nintendo do well they fall back to simply coasting along. I'm glad that I have other systems as I still have new games to look forward to, hopefully stock shortages should ease this year so I will finally be able to grab a PS5 and XsX.
I kind of miss the video stores but im much happier with the rent it from the couch options we have now.
I'm definitely in the minority on this site but I would be happy for all gaming to go fully subscription based - I would then do what I do with my streaming services and subscribe when they have something I want to play and cancel in the times between.
I've bought a series S with gamepass and I doubt I will ever have to actually buy a game for it, whereas my switch has cost me an absolute fortune in software because of the Nintetax on everything (and was more expensive to actually buy in the first place!)
@Blizzia "also, anything published by Nintendo is still 1st party" so by your logic Battlefield was developed by EA and not Dice. Publishers just fund the development cycle and monetize the property.
BotW2 has been handed over to Monolith Soft.
MP4 is being developed by Retro.
Pokemon Legends is being developed by gamefreak.
Mario Golf is being developed by Camelot.
Paper Mario OK was developed by Intelegent Systems.
HW AoC was Koi Tecmo with the help of omega force.
At this point you are simply highlighting that Nintendo has pretty much become another EA or Activision with the only difference being they make their own hardware and developed 1 game (splatoon) in 3 years

Re: May's Monster Hunter Digital Event To Cover Rise 3.0 And More Stories 2, Airs Next Week
Might go back and check the new content when it drops but lack of voice chat left me bored after a hunt or 2 and I moved onto other games.
Re: Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Is Coming To Switch
Great game but its hard to get excited about a port for a 3 year old game.
Where are the new games?

Re: Hands On: From Xbox Series X To Nintendo Switch, The Falconeer: Warrior Edition Soars
Interesting for those unable to play it elsewhere. I've tried it a few times but just can't get to grips with the controls and give up quickly.
Personally, I would rather see GamePass on Switch than getting charged to play each game individually like this.

Just means I will be able to sell it on ebay for closer to £70 instead of £60.
Re: Black Isle Admits There Have Been "Issues" With The Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Switch Release
@Dirty0814 so what was the delay to do with then?
Re: Sorry, We're Not Getting Hollow Knight: Silksong News At E3 2021
That's a shame as this was my most anticipated Switch game.
Re: Nintendo Reveals New Zelda & Loftwing amiibo For Skyward Sword HD
The MHR Magnamalo Amiibo got me the game for free so I will definitely be grabbing this and will probably flip it on ebay to pay for the game.

Re: Black Isle Admits There Have Been "Issues" With The Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Switch Release
Meh it's had middling reviews and Pure Xbox said it wasn't really worth the asking price given how dated everything feels.
Seems weird that they can't even get Game Cube era games running on Switch though

Ace Attorney Trilogy showing the switch tax between Nintendo consoles!! 80% markup vs the 3DS version

Another indy game that is double the price on Switch.
These greedy publishers make it so difficult to buy games on this system.

Xbox live and PS+ both offer monthly free games, why can't Nintendo?
