Physical game distributor iam8bit has announced it will be releasing an Ori double-pack for Nintendo Switch with the help of Moon Studios, Xbox Game Studios and global distribution partner Skybound Games. This physical release contains Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
This two-in-one release officially titled Ori: The Collection can be pre-ordered soon for $49.99 USD from the iam8bit website and retailers worldwide. It'll be released on 12th October and will include both games on a "single cartridge", according to the official PR. The same release also comes with two digital soundtracks and six collectible art cards.
Alongside this, iam8bit has also announced a re-release of Ori's Collector's Edition - this includes both games (separately) along with a variety of collectible items including a "majestic" stained glass-style art piece. Pre-orders for this are also now live for $149.99 USD.
Will you be adding either of these Ori physical releases to your Nintendo Switch games collection? Tell us down below.

That is pretty cool
This is sweet but a little irritating for those of us who had to pay more for the 2 separate versions when they should have just released them on 1 cart from the start. I've noticed an increasing amount of Switch releases that are double and even triple dipping on physical releases, often offering more complete versions on cart for a cheaper price overall. Still happy that more people will be able to collect this as physical.
Ya I agree this sucks for those of us who already bought. I paid $103 CAD for the two separate releases and I got a deal.
I have a digital copy of both already. I considered buying a physical copy of the second game but when I saw it on sale for $15 digital I just picked it up. I still need to play it. I know it is supposed to be great. I really enjoyed the first one.
Nice, but like Treons says I am a bit mad that they did something like this especially after we already bought them physical separately the first time. I guess it's good value to those who hadn't play them yet. I'm also disappointed that it's from iam8bit again, the fact that it's published by them means greedy Nintendo will count it as a limited physical release and to my knowledge you can't collect gold coins on any physical game Nintendo see as limited or special release. They'll just give you a lame error that you can't collect gold coins on that title yet but by the time you know it the time to collect gold coins on those games had already expired.
That is super tempting. Even if I own them digitally twice over already.
@Kreko Ori one came out on the switch in 2019. Ori 2 wasn’t finished till March 2020 and had six months Xbox exclusivity.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I didn't realize that about not being able to collect coins on limited releases I've run into that several times and I never figured out why.
I got the super cool collector’s edition, which I don’t regret, but it kept me from getting the super cool collector’s edition for Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2.
I already have both physical editions, so I won't be getting this. GREAT GAMES though!
YOOOO that looks so coool
I'm tempted to double dip. Have both these games, but love them so much that I'd be willing to get the physical versions of these.
Glad I waited. $50 for the two games on a cartridge sounds like a great deal.
Finally. A physical release that isnt ridiculously price like Limited games or whatever
Finally! Had been waiting for something like this for Ori! And a very reasonable price too, as the prices of the individual physical releases were a bit too high for my liking.
Hopefully, Ori 2 is fully patched on this cart, as it wasn't in it's stand alone release, despite the developer claiming it would be.
If it is, I'll get this!
This is a great opportunity for those who haven't played it yet. Beautiful and fantastic games!
@faint Someone with some common sense!
Glad I held off on biting on digital sales and holding off on the standalone physical releases now. $50 for two great games all on one cart is a lot more tempting than any other iteration of their availability on Switch.
@Kreko How is this milking? If you already own the games, congrats. Go play the games. You don't have to own every version of the game that they release.
If you don't own these this is a new way to purchase them. I don't own either of these and am tempted to pick this up.
This is shady, great for people that didn't pick it up but a slap in the face to everyone that did which probably is a lot of people.
Same publisher too, so they clearly had it in mind that this was going to be what they were going to do in the first place.
Heck it was only 7-8 months ago it came out.
Shocking practice!
I still don't own either of the Ori games, so this looks like the perfect opportunity to snag both
this isn't new, i got this edition a while back, it is a re-release. its an amazing set.
This collection released on XB1 back in February 2021 (11 months after Ori and the Will of the Wisps launched on XB1) so the timing of this release on Switch shouldn't be surprising.
Not worth it on the Switch i'll get the PS4 version instead it's much cheaper
Always been interested in this, so I'll bite. Pre-ordered on Amazon UK for ÂŁ45! Bargain!
Tempting.... very tempting.
@Kreko Did you buy it when it first released digitally? If so, why does it matter if they release it physical later? You already own the game and can play it right now, why would you buy it again? You don't have to buy everything that gets released.
Wow, do you guys also think it's a slap in the face when games get a price cut after you paid full price? Or when game of the year editions are released with dlc you bought separately? By the way, every product ever is milking. They're enticing you to buy things, always.
Getting it. Haven't got the second yet and this will free up some space for digital-only titles.
@Kreko how are "consumers like me" the problem when I have bought no versions of these games ever and I've never bought multiple releases of any game phsycially/digitally?
@Kreko I can see the big picture too. But you also said "consumers like me" so I'm using me as an example. Anyways, we disagree. Each to their own.
Usual Switch tax on display.
No wonder everyone ripped off Switch owners when they happily pay way over the odds on every release.
The double pack is currently on sale for ÂŁ15 on Xbox and WotW runs at 120FPS @ 4k - you are getting charged ÂŁ30 for a cartridge and box!!!
@Kreko Looked at another way, you don't have ANY copies of Ori and now you can get both for less... struggling to see what you are complaining about tbh?
Games usually get cheaper over time, and nobody HAS to buy these again, they are the same games. But if they so desire there is that choice. If someone want's to buy every version of something that is on them, no one else.
Will of the Wisp saw an early physical sale price on Amazon UK, so I got that for ÂŁ20, but Blind Forest has never moved much in price for some reason. Hopefully this new release might bring the price of Blind Forest down. Or a UK retailer might pick up some stock and I'll get this bundle. We'll see.
This is wonderful!
@Kreko There was a 2 year gap between them both and if you already have them digitally there is no point buying a second copy.
@Kreko were you thinking of others when throwing around insults like a child?
No one needs to buy all of the versions. If they want to that’s on them.
If a GOTY version comes out with all the dlc and it’s cheaper is that a problem? What about a compilation like this a few years later.
Get some perspective and grow up.
waiting for Amazon on this one. And wasted good money for the two separate one as well and considering the CE also.
@Kreko Why not just make it a bundle in the first place..... I hate gaming industry more and more every day. Companies milk every single penny they can get out of you
This is a FACT and for those whom are obviously obtuse they make us into Sheeps for the Slaugther. They can release as one package regardless of how many years they know exactly what they are doing. No Bones about it. This isn't about Capitalisms this is just MILKING consumers. This has nothing to do with Digital - this is how companies get bad reputations doing these games with consumers. Now people will see iam8bit as Dispatch and another game maker from France whom said they were making 3 games and now since gone quiet. This isn't about oh I can buy a 3rd time this is about a SLAP in the face of consumers.
Man, I'm so ticked off that the Mass Effect games came out one at a time over the course of several years, FORCING everyone to buy them at full price, and then a mere ten years later they came out as a "Definitive" bundle on PS4 at a third of the price. MILKING the customers I say, and guess what, it's all YOUR fault for lettimg the companies RIP YOU OFF like this.
Did I do that right?
@Blac-Link There is no Playstation version of these games.
@Kreko the physical version for the first came out while they were still making the second one. Those carts have also been out for a while. Are you mad about Sonic Mania and Sonic all stars racing being on a cart together? What about Mario and Duck Hunt being on an nes cart together?
@faint it doesn't matter whom it's the way they incentives doing this. And no CPA is doing anything about it. Yes, buying into this helps makes us SheepsToSlaugther. I am like you on OddWorld and this really smells of BS. Mario/Duck hunt on NES? That's like so long ago and tech nowdays are more refined they can do it but it's Will They Do It?
I know this isn't from Limited Run Games, but will this collection be a...limited run or a normal, mass-produced, no need to rush run?
These games look SO good, but I worry they are too difficult for me. Thoughts?
include both games on a "single cartridge"
Why is this in quotes? Are both games on there or what?
@SwitchForce The point of bringing up Mario and Duck Hunt is this has always been happening. The people who bought the individual copies made an investment. They will likely increase in value more than the dual copy.
@Kreko That doesn’t work because both of those are already completed. A very different situation than Ori and Ori 2 when they were released.
It isn’t the same thing. Like I said, when Ori one was released, Ori 2 was still in development and had six months exclusivity to X-Box because they are Microsoft games.
@Kreko I looked up the dates. You’re just unwilling to admit your wrong on the Internet. It’s okay, you’ll survive.
@TreonsRealm literally just bought both games for 40$ each this January. I dont have a lot of extra money to spend on gaming so this stings
Looks like faint is a troll having double accounts so they can like their own trolling.
@faint
I can only assume you mean it is very different because Ori 1 & 2 hadn't been released physically yet?
I personally disagree, I get gotys & complete editions are a thing, but they normally at least happen a year later, not announced only 7-8 months after the original physicals releasing. From a comparatively indie studio too it makes it worse.
You expect (or rather are sadly not suprised) bad practices from bigger publishers, but not smaller ones who would welcome the custom, but this is only burning bridges with the publisher and early adopters.
They knew exactly what they were doing with this announcement too, it's not like some new technology has come about allowing them to put both the games on the cart, it was always there and they simply elected to do it this way in the hope to get more money. Yes I also know it's business, but are we meant to just roll over and be happy about it?
@JasmineDragon Totally spot on.
