Feel sorry for him, Nintendo, get some competent programmers and fix your algorithm, it's broken and terrible and if its source was ever to be leaked/release, it would be an example of how to not write a moderation algorithm.
@aaronsullivan @Yorumi I know it's still needed in some cases (compilers, drivers), just I never have heard of it actually being taught in regular CS courses since the rise and dominance of Java, C, C++ and web technologies. I eventually want to learn on x86_64 ASM programming, but I'm already pretty familiar with the concepts. I'm only 14 so I still have lots of time to learn.
@Yorumi What school do you go to? Nowadays there's, for better or worse, not that much need for asm, especially writing entire programs in them seeing as most C (and I'm assuming C++) compilers allow inline assembly. Haven't even heard of a university teaching asm for a long time unless it's for something specialized.
LOLOLOL, I was actually making a gb emu right before I decided to go on NL and see if anything interesting had happened. Granted I know most, if not all of everything said in the video. Still neat though.
@Shirma_Akayaku If you're that concerned about person information being stolen, don't use social media, it's not safe and public wifi, NEVER EVER EVER use, or connect to, public wifi.
@Shirma_Akayaku and so do Sony, MS, Google, Facebook. Enterprise security is never "easy" to hack btw. If you have 500 skilled hackers trying to hack a particular server at a time, it's fairly likely one of them will find a small flaw, that they then turn into a big one. Don't see why that would concern you.
The problem with amiibo is best shown in this comment section. @WiltonRoots for example, is of the opinion that they do nothing useful and therefore are pointless and not worth buying. On the other hand, @Sligeach, can't stop calling amiibo "scamiibo" (which is a terrible pun btw) because they lock "important" content out. Then there are some who think there's a good balance between the missing to much if you don't and getting too little if you do buy them.
@IceClimbers depends what in politics and religion you're discussing, I'm willing to say that Republican v. Democrat debates get more heated than protestant church vs baptist chich, on the contrary, however, Religion vs Atheism debated probably get more heated than "best president of all time" debates.
@IceClimbers "Anyways, amiibo are always going to be controversial. Either they do too much and are an intrusive paywall, or they do too little and are useless. There is no balance between the two." This SOOOOOOO much, people like to complain about how amiibo do nothing in game A then go and complain about how they do too much in game B.
@A01 It a cultural difference, they see nothing wrong with having a 13 year old in underwear in their media, our culture treats that as worse than violence.
He should probably think about hiring someone who knows something about computers seeing as he can't get a game that could run in a browser to work on a game console capable of 1080p 60fps. I'd be terrified if I ever saw his code.
hmmmmm.... pay money to use this tool which only lets me use basic (which is a kinda crappy language), OR I could just use C or C++ with some homebrew libraries and make apps that can do a lot more.Tough one.
Why would they lower the price, it's not like the Wii U will start selling like hotcakes all of a sudden, a price cut would make Nintendo loose money if anything.
@dizzy_boy lol, by who, IIRC Nintendo is valued at ~$10 billion (USD), so in order to actually buy out Nintendo you'd probably need at minimum ~$15 billion.
Why does it sound like NL is salty from hard levels, which arguably take a better knowledge of game mechanics to make. ESPECIALLY the really hard pixel perfect ones.
@rjejr "$300 is insane" by whose standards? Nintendo only started making a profit on the Wii U a year or so after it released, I'll guarantee you the price of parts hasn't gone to $250. A price drop would only lose money, as lets face it, the Wii U will never be a big seller unless every 3rd party starts making VERY well done ports of every big game on PS4/X1. Don't even try to bring up the 3ds, because A)The price drop happened very early in its life and B)it was the only 8th gen handheld until the vita (which flopped) came out.
@IceClimbers Which is why Galaxy 1 is far better than Galaxy 2 IMO. Galaxy 2 had too many galaxies and you would never really fully explore any of them as you would in SMG1, Dusty Dune from SMG1 had 7 stars in it, sure there was green stars, but they weren't generally that hard to find and they didn't feel anywhere near as satisfying as going through several new planets.
This was my favourite MK until 8 came out, 7 might've had a chance had it included a VS. mode. I just really like that there are 12 racers not 8 which IMO leads to better scoring and less frustation (get hit a red shell right before the finish line in 7, 3 people pass you and you get half the points had you not been hit, in 8 you'd get like 2/3 or so of what you would've got).
@Minotaurgamer . "The more popular and successful a game gets, the more hated it becomes by "gamers"". Only true if the game is causal friendly, even if stuff like time trials can be really competitive for good players.
@Mida Those, under the definition of 'gimmick' could all be considered one. "gimmick: a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business." The gamepad lets you view your surroundings better, fire more accurately (gyro is easily more precise than sticks), and like you mentioned, there's the walker which also makes use of the gamepad.
@Mida yeah, but if you want to play Star Fox 64 play Star Fox 64 (as most people consider it the only game with really solid gameplay). Star Fox has always had a new "gimmick" in each game since 64. Adventures was action adventure, Assault had on foot, tank and shape ship sections in a single map. Command added some strategy to to the on-rails fighting. I really don't care if the graphics become 480p, as long as the actual gameplay is good I'm good
@Lord You don't need voice chat, like for no reason whatsoever. The online consists of random stuff you have to do (in your game). I 'join' the online AFAIK that'll just bring up a list of things my lobby has to do (in their own game by themselves), if we finish all the tasks then we get split into groups of fours and then fight some overd, which is usually easy enough to do solo. (I could be wrong but this is what I remember seeing from the streams- or something similar to this). This is supposed to be a loosely-connected online, not GTA-style online.
If it actually is $100-$120 CAD I'm just getting the digital game and I'll buy the USB separately as that is like a must have for me seeing as I have like 6 USB sticks and still wanting another one or two. Don't really care that it's only 10 songs that are included as I've already been listening to the entire soundtrack on my phone for several months now.
