Re: Random: Valve's Latest Steam Deck Trailer Briefly Shows A Switch Emulator

Mfreddy22

I got the deck this week and I'm still been playing my switch more. It's heavier than I thought it would be and I'm a pretty big dude with big hands so not sure how others like it. If anyone is buying it for switch emulation it seems stupid to me since I modded switch is 10x better with the same grey legal areas you'd deal with here. Steam deck is great for people with a backlog of PC games on Steam, I get that. But that's really the only reason I'd be worth it. There's so much crossover on indie games and others with Switch already that I don't see the reason to double dip just for emulation.

Re: Metroid Games You Need To Play Before Metroid Dread

Mfreddy22

If you're going to play Metroid 1 and 2 for nostalgic purpose, I suggest using NSO or an emulator with a rewind feature. Zero Mission, Super Metroid, and Fusion are all classic games and it's harder for me to pick a best one the more I play them. AM2R is another must play that follows the same winning formula as these 3.
I still haven't got around to Samus Returns mainly because of the 3ds but may buy it and then just emulate it since 3ds seems like a tough purchase in 2021.

Re: Metroid Games You Need To Play Before Metroid Dread

@Markiemania95 Haha. I'm sure they say that so newcomers aren't intimidated and it's good they are making this game with that in mind. But let's be honest, going into this game after a good base knowledge of the series' best games would make it a much better experience.

Re: Xbox Cloud On Switch? Nintendo Won't Allow It, Says Industry Analyst

Mfreddy22

I'd love to see it but agree with this comment. If I were making that business decision on Nintendo's behalf, I would wait until the industry forces this Netflix style and cloud style gaming to become mainstream. Right now Nintendo is making so much money off its software sales, I don't see a reason to jeopardize anything there until they need to. This could be more of an option in the upcoming couple years when Xbox game pass continues to grow and cloud gaming becomes more accepted mainstream.
But hey, I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Review: Immortals Fenyx Rising - An Off-Brand Breath Of The Wild That's Still Worth A Look

Mfreddy22

The demo I played was very enjoyable, even on Stadia. This felt instantly like I game I will finish and I couldn't get into Skyrim or Witcher 3 as of now (forgive me, maybe soon). The "cons" on this review are irrelevant to me...
1- BOTW clone is not a bad thing when it's considered one of the best games ever.
2- Color scheme is subjective and looks great to me
3- Title...who gives a ratsass about the title. Def not worth skipping this game.

I highly recommend this to anyone who likes botw and assassins creed.

Re: Round Up: More Screenshots And Footage Of Super Mario 3D All-Stars

Mfreddy22

@Clyde_Radcliffe I completely agree it's great there kept close to original styles. I was playing the snes mario all stars recently and was disappointed when Super Mario Bros looked liked every other 16 bit version. I went back to play the original version on nes. I get that back in the 90s the visual upgrades made sense since retro gaming wasn't old enough, but looking back now, that allstars pack has aged terribly. I believe this would be the case here too if Nintendo made all games look like Odyssey.

Re: Koji Igarashi Explains How Zelda Influenced His Work On Castlevania And Bloodstained

Mfreddy22

I get the Zelda influence but they are way different in a good way.
The igavanias are my favorite games of all time. The 2d maps and level up ability along with finding a strategy to farm/grind early to be overpowered are so fun. Bloodstained RotN can be replayed 100x and each time you can find a different way to pick your weapons early and dominate. This is what separates it from Metroid (still great). Timespinners is probably the only game I've found so far that matches this. Suggestions welcome.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Sold More Copies Than The Entire Metroid Franchise

Mfreddy22

Huge Metroid fan but I've greatly lowered my expectations. I'd love a 2-d surprise drop, MPT port, and or Metroid 4, but not counting on it anytime soon. Hard to blame Nintendo for following the money, so just glad indie devs are making great games to carry on the genre. Hollow Knight and Bloodstained etc. are great and looks like their developers still believe in their franchises.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games

Mfreddy22

Bloodstained is my favorite and is actually a pure metroidvania. Hollow Knight is right up there yet different. More Metroid than Vania.
I'll never get why Dead Cells is always on these lists. Help me understand that.
Axiom, Timespinner, Gato, Ori are all good ones I've beat. But bloodstained made me go back and play all the iga games. Gets no better with only competition being Super Medroid and Hollow Knight
