Update (Thu 24th Sep, 2020 07:45 BST): The day has arrived - Psyonix's Rocket League is now a free-to-play game across all platforms including the Nintendo Switch.

Admittedly there's been some teething issues, so if you encounter any problems, don't be surprised.

Original article (Wed 16th Sep, 2020 01:55 BST): Psyonix has announced its insanely popular "soccar" game Rocket League will go free-to-play on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch, next week on 23rd September.

When it is finally made available to everyone, it will no longer require users to have a Nintendo Switch Online membership in order to play matches online. Here's the official cinematic trailer:

As part of this update, there'll also be revamped tournaments and challenges, the return of the Season 1 Rocket Pass, two new items packs (Endo Starter pack and Jager Pack), and a new in-game event called new in-game event called Llama-Rama.

Psyonix has also rolled out an update today - allowing existing players to link their platforms with their Epic Games Account. These same players will also receive Legacy Status Items.
