Steam Deck

Valve Corporation has provided Steam Deck fans with some pretty big news, confirming that orders for the handheld beast will now be processed and shipped without reservation, bringing an end to lengthy wait times for prospective owners.

A new trailer for the device has been launched to promote the update, and eagle-eyed viewers have noticed something rather interesting on the dock screen. As highlighted by Nibel on Twitter, an icon for a Switch emulator called Yuzu can be seen on the right-hand side of the screen.

Yuzu is, of course, an open-source emulator for Nintendo Switch titles, and its appearance on an official Steam Deck trailer is sending a pretty big message to current and future owners of the Steam Deck; Valve seemingly has no issue with you using third-party software like this. Its inclusion is may be a mistake, but if it is, it's a pretty hefty one.

Nintendo itself doesn't seem to have caught on just yet and we can't imagine it will be particularly pleased to see a Switch emulator being promoted on an official Steam Deck trailer, but we shall see!

You can view the official timestamped trailer below; the Yuzu software icon pops up at the 1:40 mark [Update: It appears that the video has now been set to ‘Private’]
