It's easy, in the influx of information and internet reactions, to lose context on the number of games and releases confirmed by Nintendo in its E3 Digital Event and elsewhere. An infographic can help bring a bit of context, so Nintendo has naturally obliged.
As you can see below, the company's keen to highlight a reasonable flow of releases across Wii U and 3DS for the rest of 2015 and into early 2016. Click the image to expand it.
Does seeing the list of upcoming games sooth any frustration you had following the Digital Event. There are games coming, after all.

Well, there are a lot of games coming this year that I like. I said before, I will be genuinely entertained. That's what's important right?
Well, at least I've still got a good few games to look forward to .
Mario Maker will have to carry most of the year it looks like.
Thank goodness for backlogs.
I'm assuming this is an American based one (boy, does Yoshi's Wooly World come out later for those in the US), so it's not quite so accurate for me.
In any case, of those games, Yoshi's Wooly World, Genei Ibun Roku #FE, and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam are definite purchases from me. This list lacks quite a few games I've decided to get, hence why I'm only able to mention 3 I'm absolutely getting.
If I have the funds to spare, I'd really like to get Star Fox Zero and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. Chibi-Robo Ziplash, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, and Hyrule Warrios Legends intrigue me, but I'm unsure about getting them at this point. There is also, again, the matter of how much money I'd have left over at that point.
The road to Zelda Wii U is paved with... releases that fail to make a good first impression?
Not a whole lot going on there, tbh. Not anything special at all. :/
There are some games I'll get, but I hoped that Xenoblade X was coming somewhat earlier, so that's a bummer.
But no, it does NOT calm me down, and it certainly doesn't get me excited right now! I'm nothing but salt for the next few days...
What I need is a real Pokemon game for Wii U, not that rumble toys stuff!
Still three months until those games start rolling, though. No matter how they spin this, it does not look good.
They HAVE TO get the Amiibo problems sorted out. Adding more Amiibo that most of us will be unable to find is not going to excite us, especially if they have cool features in games that we want to experience.
It's not all doom and gloom. The lack of new announcements was a big blow, but what was shown did mostly look pretty interesting. I'm very excited to play Xenoblade and Star Fox, and I'll pick up Wooly World, Super Mario Maker, Mario Tennis and Triforce Heroes too.
Terrible lineup, and an all too real lack of release dates.
Plenty on show. The problem really was our expectations! I'm not upset about the options, I embrace most game types so with this and some indie games I'm content. I guess I could engage in fresh air also.
Wii U games look good for the rest of the year but the first half of next year for Wii U will be drought. I guess that's when the 3ds has its strong point.
Why are Fatal Frame and Devil's Third missing everywhere?
I know that Fatal Frame just got a "Autum" releasedate but why is it not on this road map?
ANd I know too, that Devils Third is releasing in december in japan ... when do we get to play it here?
Now that I have gotten over my initial disappointment, and watching Star Fox and Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, I'm feeling a bit better about this E3. But I do hope they announce more games over the coming days.
Nice solid line when displayed
Well with Sony dropping bombs like FF VII HD Remake, re-announcing The Last Guardian and making Shenmue 3 happen by telling people about the Kickstarter. I think they set the bar too high for Nintendo to do anything about it, also Uncharted 4 A Thief's End being shown at the end was the seal dealer for me.
It was never bad, but people were expecting the big bombs (rightfully so... But hey, there will be a Direct coming... Right guya ? ) and besides a few games Nintendo has never been good at announcing games 1-2 years before release.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is still my GOTY. Also Yoshis Wolly World, Star Fox Zero, and Mario Maker are day 1 purchases.
So I won't be playing anything new in the summer besides splatoon? Ok
@Josaku
Devil's Third will be released in August in Japan and PAL territories.
August 4th for Japan, August 28th for Europe, August 29th for Australia.
No date for North America yet.
Look in the top left. There's going to be two types of the 30th Anniversary amiibo?
@CreativeWelshman I don't care about any of those games.
I'll cut Nintendo some slack since me and a lot of other people were expecting to drop the big bombs like a new F Zero and Mother 3. I'm a bit dissapointed though. We did get Metroid and Animal Crossing, but in a different way. The metroid one looks interesting though. MARIO AND LUIGI: PAPER JAM LOOKS SICK DAY ONE FOR ME. The Legend Of Zelda: Triforce Heroes looks cool, I remember playing Four Swords with my brother and cousins back when I was around 8 (Which now, I am 15). I love Mario Tennis, so I'm glad we are getting another one. Star Fox looks amazing! Yoshi's Wooly World and Xenoblade X were alright but it's been 3 years in a row now. Super Mario Maker looks awesome too. And the new fire emblem games were good too. Also that 8 bit Mario Amiibo looks awesome. I'm not sure how I feel about The Animal Crossing Spin Offs, AND I'M GLAD THAT WE ARE FINALLY GETTING YO KAI WATCH. A couple more things, I'm going to get the new Bowser and DK figures, but use them as Amiibo. Hyrule Warriors Legends was leaked out, and it's a port so I don't care. There was no new I.P or new Smash, MK8. or Splatoon DLC. I think I covered everything. Overall I give it a 55 out of 100. The only games that really dissapoint me are the Animal Crossing Spin Offs, Yoshi's Wooly World (I'm excited for it but we have seen it sooooooo many times) and same with XCX. OH AND I FORGOT RETRO DIDN'T SHOW OFF THEIR GAME, hopefully soon though.
I am much more excited about Nintendo exclusives than Microsoft and Sony's.
Sony can call me when GT 7 comes out.
Nintendo just makes the kind of games I like to play. Most of the big games for PS4 and Xbox are just games I don't like or care about.
So after October 16th there will be a huge drought on good Nintendo titles. Well at least my wallet will get some rest.
There's a Mabel amiibo but no Sable amiibo?
What gives? You don't separate the Able Sisters.
Not really no...
While the presentation itself was pretty blah, Nintendo's release schedule is by far the best right now out of any of the big 3.
The issue isn't the lack of games, because there are lots of great ones coming. The issue is that the great ones are games we already knew about, and the new reveals were underwhelming. In short, Nintendo's Direct failed to excite.

There are properly more games that I've forgot but the point is people like different games and I like a wide verity of games to satisfy my gamer needs.
Can't agree with those that say U has better games than PS4... As much as I love MarioKart, Pikmin, 3D World etc... There are huge waits between games I'm interested in on WiiU, I can't remember the last time my MK disk was taken out of the console...
There's a ton more games out on PS4 now and loads of the older stuff can be picked up for £20. Wolfenstein the Old Blood is just £15 new and reminds me so much of playing Goldeneye!!
Hopefully theyll do better w/ the dates on this one than last years graphic which had at least 5 or 6 things wrong. Heck this still doesnt have Project Robot on it like the last one did.
Im glad I have a Wii U for Skylanders and Yoshi and XCX for this year, but I certainly wouln'td suggest anyone buy 1 right now, wait until SMM or Yoshi or Starfox and a much needed price drop. Or wait until NX.
E3 should have a lot of future games, they didnt even show Zelda. Not good.
When something is called "Project ..." don't expect to see it for at least 2 years. Nintendo is clearly refocusing their efforts on the NX and winding down Wii U support. It's such a shame. I'm just grateful that us in Europe will be getting Yoshis Wolly World this june. Guess I'll have to buy a PS4 this fall. Rock Band and Fallout will be my holiday games.
Btw, where is Project Cars?
I'm happy with the game schedule but hey I'm just playing splatoon right now ... Don't have time for anything else...
I'm looking for a collector's edition for Mario market ( I want that book!!)... And I hope I can at least get the duck hunt and game and watch Amiibos ...
Of course xenoblade for Christmas... Star fox reminded me of the old Star Wars games... Really cool 😊
SUPER MARIO MAKER IS FIRST UP! Aw yeah!
That press conference really wasn't that bad! If you take away the ultimate brutal bait and switch that was (mario) animal crossing amiibo (party) 10.5 the new games and treehouse streams are great! If you saw treehouse play the new metroid, it looks really fun! So many hype games!
WiiU: Mario tennis, star fox zero, Mario maker, Xeno blade X, yoshi, and SMTxFE
3DS: Animal crossing happy home designer, Zelda triforce team, Mario&Luigi: Paper jam, metroid prime, and fire emblem fates
Seriously! The conference did NOT suck and we still have treehouse streams to look forward to! The conference was a disappointment in some cases (cough animal crossing cough) but don't immediately call it crap.
This is still a very strong lineup.
There's a few good games there I'll pick up, but there doesn't seem to be that many big games coming up that excite me.
More than enough for me, and I do mean more. Not unhappy about the line up at all outside of a bit of sadness that Zelda U was delayed. As far as E3 goes the only thing disappointing to me was the Metroid. Had that been a Samus adventure instead of the robots it'd have called it a great E3. Some great indie stuff coming too this year that gets me excited and looking for the time to play it all
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE LEGEND OF ZELDA : TRIFORCE HEROES
Am I the only one surprised to see no Pokemon Z this year?
@Kaze_Memaryu Not to fuel the fire, but i waited oh so long to see you loose your cool. And frankly, that was the best thing that happened today
And yes, i feel the same way, and it was a rather "tragic" show too.
We had a family viewing, got all excited and after Star Fox, there was silence...utter silence in the room.
A quick "What the...!" when TriForce Heroes showed up, since the first screen looked like a playable Saria (turned out to be Link with green hair) so i was instantly bummed again.
A quick joyfull sigh from by GF when AC Home Designer showed up and once the party game popped up, my cup flew through the room and i left to get dinner.
Lets both marinade in a pool of salt for the upcomming weeks. I definitly feel with you.
Europe gets Yoshi in June and Devils Third in August. North America gets nothing until September...
Man, it would have been so nice to see a NA release date for Devil's Third as a throwaway, given the game's so close to release in all other territories, but I guess the thirty Mario Maker segments took precedence.
A bit underwhelming for what I'm into.. But at least it'll be easy on the wallet. Mario Maker, Wolly World, and Xenoblade will have to carry me through 2015. For whatever time is left, well that's what steam is for yea?
Noticed Devils third is conveniently missing. Not much for the wii u to be honest. Tennis...No games between May 29th and September 11th. Thats pretty noticeable
The only real disappointment to me was Animal Crossing for Wii U. Not just because it isn't a traditional AC game, but it seems like you're going to have to track down the Amiibo/cards just to play what seems like a fairly dull game. Hopefully I'm wrong though. There's a lot of new 3DS games I'm looking forward to and Mario Tennis was a nice surprise. I would say they should have saved the Ryu and Smash stuff for the digital event, but that got spoiled anyway.
@wisdomsprince Devil's Third should be released in August, so that just really leaves the rest of June and July. It's not that bad of a drought.
@Josaku Europe is getting Devil's Third on August 28th.
Lookin' forward to that fairly early Triforce Heroes release
Guys, stop complaining. I bet all you fools got a ton of backlog games... so get to it
Correct me if im wrong but treehouse wont be showing tennis, ac party, devils third, cross fe, rio 2016 or fatal frame but they'll all be ready by march....uh huh
Definitely not an exciting chart. No major releases for 3 months during the summer period (which is important for sales). Then most of the announced dates are for 3rd party music and life-game titles that every other console has. There is always a chance that games without a release date slip into next year further weakening a very shallow crop of entries. There are fortunately a few others such as Fatal Frame V not listed, but still slim pickings overall. With NX targeted for 2017 release, chances are next year will be even more barren of releases for the poor ole U.
When you need to stick just dance and 3 toys to life games on your infographic it should really be a wakeup call.the problem is the majority still don't go out of their way for indie games if it's not at retail it doesn't exist and that will really hurt nintendo.i suppose I should be glad rangers have been utter mince for the last few years disappointment like that helps keep perspective.
@OveDue
Winding down the Wii U? I'd say this is status quo for the Wii U which has been on of their biggest problems! Weak third party support and 1st party games that come at random intervals leading a very limited release list.
No this doesn't help. Besides for Star Fox and Zelda Wii U, there's nothing there I care about. And Zelda isn't coming until 2016...
No new F-Zero, no long rumored Diddy Kong Racing sequel, no Metroid Prime for Wii U... I don't have a 3DS, so I don't care about the games coming out for it. Also, I thought Retro was going to announce something. What the hell are they doing?
I wasn't truly expecting it, but I was hoping they would announce more DLC for Mario Kart 8 too...
Just a huge let down.. Oh well, at least the NWC was quite good. Frankly much better than the E3 Direct was.
Did they forget Project X Zone 2? O_o
this chart made it worse for me. I thought their were more games, excited for those zeldas though
Fir me that's basically Mario Maker, Star Fox and Zelda on Wii U in the span of the next 9 months IF Zelda comes out in Q1! And honestly...after that I don't expect them to bring much more to the WiiU. And what's with all those coop games on 3DS??? The one game where that would be interesting is StarFox but no that one of course won't have multiplayer. Uuurrrgg... It's finally time to save up for that PS4.
My only remaining hope is the vc. Has the upcoming list been announced yet? If they announced some awesome wii games, some gamecube and n64 games, id b happy.
Starfox and Xenoblade are the only games I'm really excited for. Hopefully we can get some good announcements later in the year but this E3 has been a bit of a letdown from Nintendo in my opinion. I was hoping for something like Splatoon that was unexpected and exciting. Didn't seem like they had that this year.
2015 is only Yoshi Woolly World and Xenoblade X. Devil's Third should be out in the US fall 2015 since everywhere else will have it. Fatal Frame would be nice but I'd bet on 2016 (Edit: Just saw the trailer saying its Fall 2015!). 3 Wii U games and anything 3DS would have to be from Atlus.
2016 I have SMTxFE, FE Fates, Metroid Federation Force, and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam.
Lego Jurassic World
Lego Marvel Avengers
Legend of Kay
Devil's Third
Mighty No. 9
Rodea the Sky Warrior
Fatal Frame
Oddworld
Art Academy
and numerous eshop games
All missing from this list. These could all have been celebrated, in isolation for the exclusives, and in a round up for the others. E3 just did not need to be as bare bones as it was keeps repeating same points until faints
I know it's not exclusive, but Yooka-Laylee could quite possibly be the Wii U's last hurrah. I would like to think Playtonic will be up for doing some Nintendo-only features, especially if Skylanders got the green light, and also when you consider the N64 version was part of the kick starter bidding options (I'm almost just as excited to see this version as I am of the actual Wii U version).
Well, for me, I have plenty to look forward to. From that list, definitely get:
Still in consideration and need to see more before I decide:
Not included in that list are (not all I'll get day one, but eventually):
So yeah, a lot to look forward to. Disappointed on the Digital Events, but otherwise, the rest of the year until next year is looking good for me.
2 or 3 there I'm interested in but hopefully indies will make up for that.
So the Spring 2015 games are now Autumn 2015. Please understand.
@Einherjar No fire left to fuel, man - I'm burned out. Tried my best to distract myself, only to end up abandoning Splatoon two minutes after starting it. So, it might not come off as convincing, but sorry to hear you also got hit by that... joke. And thanks for the understanding.
Anyone saying that this is sparse..... I bet your backlog is disgusting.
Considering this is missing others like fatal frame and Devil's third (I'll bet they are waiting on a direct) can some people remove the razors from their wrists now? Or better yet please help me beat down my back log so I can be as desperate? You can start with the SNES stack.
Mario Maker is the keys to the Mushroom Kingdom that I've wanted since I was 4 years old. Im almost 30. We're getting that and a real StarFox after all these years. I'm satisfied.
Why the fu*k do u make AC happy home desiner and AC amiibo tour when u can make new Animal Crossing game to wii u.
Wtf are u doing nontendo.
I could have survived this year with good AC game on wii u but no u cant do even that.
And im bored to those fu*king sidescrolling platformers.
There is only mario maker, star fox and zelda.
Everything else is stupid sh*t.
Im going to buy maybe zelda if i have money to it after buying Ps4.
Ps4 plz save my life with those great games you already have.
Nintendo: lets make new star fox. Game about fighter planes but crap graphics.
Sony: lets buy war thunder. Game about fighter planes, tanks/armored vehicles and good graphics.
@CreativeWelshman
Ya but all of those games- FF7 Remake, Shenmue 3 and Last Guardian, are very long ways off. Last Guardian will be the soonest to release- probably around the holidays of 2016, and as for the other two they're just now starting development. We're talking 2017 to 2018 release dates (they may date them 2017, but after the given delay that pretty much every single PS4 game will receive), I would not be surprised if it really was 2018 for both of those games.
So there was some exciting stuff with the other presentations but a lot of it is years and years away. Not to say they weren't great presentations though because they absolutely were. Just sayin is all.
@Miko08
If you're bored with the 5 side scrolling platformers on Wii U in 2 and a half years, you're gonna be HELLA bored with the 47 shooters you'll see every single year on other platforms. Sidescrolling platformers are scarce a genre as they come. I'm praying that we get more! MUCH more! Five in nearly 3 years ain't cutting it. If you want to count indy games you can count them on the other platforms to because those are everywhere.
This whole platformer mantra is just parroted bullet points, incorrectly parroted bullet points at that.
Why the heck is Falco's amiibo releasing in the Holiday season? Star Fox Zero? Animal Crossing? Actually, that wouldn't be as bad.
5 of those wii u games requires you to buy expensive plastic toys to play it. Nintendo really dropped the ball this year
Normally I would feel better the morning after the night before but not this time.It really was as bad as it seemed at the time.To be so hyped for the show and to come out of it with only Mario Tennis to add to the list of games I was already planning to buy is sad really. After the success of last years show and the positive marketing and good feeling around Splatoon I feel it was right to be anticipating a lot more from this show. They didn't even give us anything about the new rewards scheme or did they?Thing is,rewards for what? There is not exactly much coming to build up those points.
The Devils Third is coming 28 August, and is missing on this list.
Yoshi, Fatal Frame, Starfox and XCX for me.
It would have been nice to see a few more surprises. I understand they will show off the games that are close to release and we have seen a reasonable amount of these before with other Nintendo Directs but there was a distinct wow factor missing for something totally new and surprising.
"More games to be announced". You may want to think of announcing them soon. An Emergency Direct shortly after E3 would be prudent.
@JaxonH im not in to shooters (exept splatoon). I just mean that i want game like SM3DW / AC / Zelda (on wii u not on 3ds) this year.
Only game I'm getting this year is yoshi. Mario maker looks good, but I'm not big into creating levels, so maybe I'll get it down the line. Paper jam looks good, so I'll keep an eye on that.
I find Xenoblade Chronicles X's release kind of funny, because they were adamant about that 2015 release date, and they barely managed it in the end.
What the hell is wrong with them?!?!?! They yet again excluded Devils Third, Fast racing Neo, and Fatal frame 5, 2 of which have 2015 release dates and all 3 are slated for 2015. What is wrong with them????
Looks like a solid lineup and there are several titles missing on the list. Not to mention some of the cool looking indies titles as well.
I'm only interested in Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Woolly World, Xenoblade X and Zelda for Wii U, and I already knew them. For 3DS, I'm interested in Mario & Luigi and Fire Emblem Fated.
What about Project Zero/Fatal Frame release date?
I'm interested in:
Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer
The Legend of Zelda Tri Force Heroes
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Hyrule Warriors Legends
Zelda Wii U
Fire Emblem Fates
Maybe also:
Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival
Yo-Kai Watch
Mario Maker
Metroid Prime Federation Force
I feel like 3DS got some pretty good games coming, but the Wii U seems to be slightly left behind.
So is it too early for me to preorder Metroid Prime Federation Force?
why no black mii fighters amiibo? D:
Falco's Amiibo comes after Mewtwo's?
To be honest with what games I still haven't finished and all the stuff over the next few months I'm quite content with the lineup. Plus that more to be announced looks pretty promising! I'm probably the only one but I am actually really looking forward to the new 3DS Zelda and metroid games. I'll definitely be buying both, I love coop games lol.
Looking forward to Fire Emblem Fates and Paper Jam.
Looking forward to Fire Emblem Fates and Paper Jam.
@Vilinision I'm right there with you on the lack of release dates... WTH? Since they failed so many in the last two years they must have figured "meh. Screw it. Who knows if we'll get to it on time... Tell them 2015."
According to this, Fatal Frame and Devil's Third do not exist.
is there an OFFICIAL full list that shows all the games coming for the Wii U and 3DS? There are several missing from this list. Thanks!!!
If your a 3ds owner you would be happy. Wiiu owners like me, very disappointing, its like they are doing the advertising for ps4 snd xbone. Where are the games. With the exception of tennis, these games were all at the last e3. Not enough games for this console.
That roadmap is really scary. Where in the world is Rodea the Sky Soldier, Fatal Frame 5 and The Devil's Third from that list?
Both games have been promised a 2015 release date, but Nintendo shuts out completely the most awaited games of this year.
I am really worried now.
"And more to be announced"
Yup they are getting rid of the Wii U for the NX -_- smh
