Update [Fri 10th Dec, 2021 00:15 GMT]: The Pokémon Company has now officially revealed Hisuian Voltorb - an electric grass type. It will also be releasing a special animated short to celebrate.
"Hisuian Voltorb looks very similar to the Poké Balls of the Hisui region. This Pokémon is always in high spirits and has a friendly personality. However, it discharges its stored electricity when it gets excited, so it frequently shocks nearby humans and Pokémon."
"Trainers, stay tuned to our social channels tomorrow for a special animation short featuring Hisuian Voltorb!"
Original article [Thu 9th Dec, 2021 03:30 GMT]: The official Pokémon Legends: Arceus website seems to be teasing something related to Poké Balls.
If you want to find out what it's all about, you'll need to help Ball Guy pick up all his balls (and some explode). If you're still not sure what's going on here, it seems The Pokémon Company is leading up to a possible reveal of sorts.
One popular theory and perhaps obvious guess is that it's teasing the Hisuian forms of the exploding Poké Ball-like Pokémon Voltorb and Electrode, which could possibly feature in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
If you would like to help unlock this surprise, you can head on over to the official game site. When we find out what's going on here, we'll be sure to let you know.

Wonder if this'll just be an announcement tomorrow or if it'll be part of The Game Awards
I don't anything much from this hint if I'm being honest.
Maybe a reveal to a new pokemon trailer in Legends but thats all I can think of.
Hisuian Voltorb was actually rumored, and the rumor included an entire list of Hisuian variants, so the surprise may already be ruined. For anyone wondering, here's what's rumored in spoilers (in addition to the ones we already know):
Electric/Grass Hisuian Voltorb/Electrode
Poison/Fighting Hisuian Sneasel + alt evo
Dark/Poison Hisuian Qwilfish + new evo
Normal/Ground Ursaring evo
Fire/Rock Hisuian Arcanine
Dragon/Steel Hisuian Sliggoo/Goodra
Grass/Fighting Hisuian Lilligant
Ice/Rock Hisuian Avalugg
Grass/Fighting Hisuian Decidueye
Fire/Ghost Hisuian Typhlosion
Water/Dark Hisuian Samurott
a fourth member of the Forces of Nature (Tornadus/Thundurus/Landorus) that's Fairy/Flying
All I know is Ball Guy scares me.
@Bolt_Strike Funny thing is that this is easily debunked when you realize Ursaring is a Alpha pokemon, which most of them are fully evolved. Also, it really wouldn't make sense that the genies would get another genie pokemon in Sinnoh, given they're Unova based Legendary pokemon, and are from Unova originally.The others were all speculated by fans, and the stuff this leak got right were already known about before the image was made. Things like Hisuian Braviary, or Hisuian Zoroark. Things like Hisuian Arcanine, and a few others were already known about. Things like the Weavile evolution/form, Avalugg form, starter forms, and Voltorb were speculated by fans before this Voltorb had been confirmed.
@VoidofLight The Kanto birds got Galarian forms despite being from Kanto, and they also added Regigigas to the Regis in Sinnoh and Regieleki and Regidrago in Galar despite the Regis being from Hoenn. The genies getting Hisuian variants despite being from Unova is not something out of the ordinary or unprecedented by any means.
Also not sure where you're getting that some of them were "speculated by fans".
@Bolt_Strike The thing is though, the Legendary birds are a species, not individuals. The Regis getting new forms is more likely, given the backstory of the Regis in the first place. The Genies are individuals, not a species, and they're native to Unova. Making a new one so far away from Gen 5 makes no sense. And no, you can't use "But basculin is native to unova, but it's here, because it's a normal pokemon species, where as the Genies are Legendaries.
Also, by fan speculated, I meant that I've seen so many people speculate about those pokemon before this leak even came out, that it's most likely that the "Leaker" included them, on the off chance that it ended up being right. The Weavile thing was because people think that the pokemon in the leaked powerpoint slides is a Weavile evolution with a box on it's back.
@VoidofLight That doesn't really make sense. How are the birds a "species" and genies "individuals"? They're both legendaries, there's little to no distinction between them. Also there's nothing that really ties them to Unova, there's one dex entry for Thundurus that says it flies around Unova, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily native to Unova, or that it doesn't also fly around other regions. They have and will probably continue to do whatever they want with some of the older legendaries, and aside from version mascots I think just about any legendary is fair game for something like this.
There's thousands, maybe even millions of fans speculating on this game and throwing around ideas for Hisuian forms. You might even be able to find someone speculating on a Hisuian form for just about every Pokemon. I'm not necessarily convinced that he just compiled other people's ideas (I don't think it's impossible in the slightest, but you've produced no compelling evidence that he did). It can't really be proven true yet, but it also can't really be proven false either. But if they're proven correct about Hisuian Voltorb, and especially its typing, then this rumor might be worth keeping an eye on.
@FishyS if a man dressed as a Poke Ball wanted me to pick up his balls I would be scared too...
@Bolt_Strike The legendary birds are confirmed a species. Most Legendary pokemon are individuals, with the exception of a few. Most mythical pokemon are apart of a species with the exception of a few.
Also yeah, thousands of people are speculating, but there's other things that could discredit this "leak", like how every pokemon it got right was already revealed before the image even released, aside from this one here. Voltorb itself was one of those that was heavily speculated on by Poketubers and people on social media, so that's why I think it could just be a guess more than anything. Like, I remember tons of people made fan art of a concept for the Voltorb.
@VoidofLight Yeah no, IDK where you're getting that information, but the games have never been explicit about that distinction and throw in whatever legendaries they want whenever they want regardless of their home region. So just about anything is fair game here.
Including already revealed Pokemon in the leak doesn't discredit it, it's just known information regardless of whether they knew it or not. It's what's revealed from this point on that will confirm or debunk this rumor, not what was revealed before the rumor even came out. If we get a Hisuian form that wasn't on that list or if they get the type wrong, then we could look at this and say it's bogus, but right now, not really.
Hisuian voltorb? Nah, it's definitely hisuian ball guy
it seen Pokémon Legend Arceus is hiting at a Hisuan form of a Voltoborb/Eletroborb.
@VoidofLight Ursaring is an Alpha Pokémon? What does that mean?
@VoidofLight Bro, Pokemon Legend Arceus is literally set long before any of the modern games started, even the name of the region of different.
You really think the genies being from Unova matters here? How do you know they migrated to Unova later on and that this Flying-Fairy just got lost in the process?
And yeah, as Bolt Strike Said, Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno got Galarian Forms despite being from Kanto so there's nothing to suggest the same can't happen with the genies.
I'm not saying the leak is 100% real, it could be fake, but what you're saying makes no sense.
@Markiemania95 Alpha Pokemon are a new thing in Legends. Basically, they're bigger, stronger versions of a Pokemon. The name Alpha probably is in direct reference to alphas in nature, the leader of the pack. There's five confirmed alphas so far, Ursaring being one of them. All of them are fully evolved, so that does seem like a pretty good reason to believe Ursaring won't be getting a new evolution.
@Bret Ah, I’d forgotten about that. Yeah, agreed, it would be strange for it to evolve then considering that.
@Bolt_Strike Not to mention rumors of there being a Hisuian precursor to Mewtwo.
So it was just a new pokemon reveal being voltorb.
Yeah I was right to not expect much from the hint the day before.
The Voltorb line would have been a lot more fun had they introduced more variants (that correspond to the plethora of other Pokéballs), maybe as an Electric/Ghost type that takes the form of the ball that it is caught in.
While we probably won’t see them in this game, I’m hoping that we’ll someday see the much stronger Magikarp of the past that was alluded to over the decades (perhaps even evolving into a pathetically weak Gyarados variant ), Genesect before the genetic engineering, and the true forms of the four Galarian fossils.
So far the leaks are true. At least the designs weren't leaked, those are still a surprise
That janky animation when it stopped rolling... why would they put that in a trailer?
@Silly_G
I wish Voltorb took the form of the ball it is caught in, and gains a new secondary typing for each. Ultra ball gives it dark typing, great is water, etc. That'd be an awesome feature
@VoidofLight
Eh it could be a split evo of tediursa rather then an Ursauring evo.
Also we don't exactly know there I'd a hard and fast full evolved rule. Ursauring could be am early Alpha and ghey might've thought ita Evo was too powerful for that point.
It looks so friendly. What happened that angered it in the future.
@Bolt_Strike
((Man Hisuian Avalugg is gonna get even more messed up than regular Avalugg unless they make some major changes to his stats/abilities. A slow Pokemon with multiple 4x weaknesses is never optimal no matter the defense, isn't that right, Magcargo? Also man I wish they just gave Decidueye the Grass/Flying typing he should have gotten in Gen VII. When the only other usable non-legendary Pokemon in the category are Jumpluff and Tropius it's weird that they went with Grass/Ghost when Gen VI already gave us Pumpkaboo and Trevenant as well as adding Dhelmise in Gen VII on top of that.))
Everything else looks pretty cool. Also how do you hide text?
@VoidofLight between your and @Bolt_Strike's argument, yours makes literally no sense. The only thing that I agree with you are that yeah, people are speculating, but your interpretation of legendaries and mythical pokemon is more messy than my oatmeal. This is GF we are talking about. They don't have a specific rule to any pokemon, whether we want to think otherwise. That "alpha" Ursaring... I don't know where the heck you got that from. Many "fully evolved" pokemon had a second or alternate evolution in a new region or release, like Obstagoon, Electivire, Magmortar, Magnezone, Dusknoir, Porygon-Z, Mr. Rime, and the list goes on...
@Supaguy put the closing
tag to hide your comment
@Supaguy First of all "Spoiler" is not supposed to be capitalized. Second, you're supposed to have a closing
tag at the end of the text you want covered up.
Makes sense for Voltorb to get a new form. It is the Poke Ball Pokemon after all.
Being electric and grass, this guy could be quite a beast, couldn't it?
I loved Voltorb for it's simple design and I am glad that was retained. I love him.
Wait wait wait, forget Hisuian Voltorb... Did that trainer just let out their pokemon to interact with the tree? And when they were hanging out with their pokemon, some were different sizes?!? What!?
@Brydontk Yep.
Not sure I like it, I kinda liked the theory that Voltorbs only started appearing when Pokeballs were first mass produced. But he's cute and Electric/Grass is pretty unique.
@Classic603 : Perhaps they can take a leaf from the Rotom forms and have Voltorb learn a new move upon capture depending on the ball used...

This could've been at TGA... That was strange and predictable at the same time. The most interesting part was the fact the battle took place in a mysterious place full of pillars.
and Pokemon fans actually think this is "exciting"
A Hisuian Voltorb is still a Voltrob :/ , still no like it !
@CodyMKW I would be runnin!
You know, this could've easily been something shown off at The Game Awards. What were they thinking!???
@KBuckley27 BREAKING NEWS! Fans of series excited by news relating to that series! More on this shocking development after the break!
@AlexanderDaniels lol Electrode's attack stat is 50, no love lost there really. Honestly it never made sense that Explosion and Self-Destruct halved defense, and it was weird that the game never told you it was doing that.
@AlexanderDaniels Now you've got me thinking about a Discharge/Explosion Electrode standing next to a Golurk that nullifies both of those.
Would be great if NINTENDO LIFE COULD STOP SPOILING NEW POKEMON IN THE THUMBNAILS THX. I have a photographic memory and your ruining fresh parts of the game for me before it's even out.
