Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Controllers Are Compatible With "Switch 2 Exclusive Games"

MarkieMAN64

Have they (or someone else) confirmed whether or not Switch 2 controllers have analogue triggers, or whether without a GameCube controller, either the new one or a wired one using the GameCube Controller Adapter, there will be some kind of alternatives to analogue triggers like we saw with Super Mario Sunshine in 3D All-stars (again without the use of the GameCube Controller Adapter).

Just curious if anyone's been able to pick any info up about this. Apologies if it's already been discussed and I've missed it.

Re: How To Transfer Screenshots And Videos From Switch To A Smartphone, PC Or Mac

MarkieMAN64

@ModdedInkling I've since got a new phone with Android 12 (both Samsung phones). Android 12 works fine. Android 11 wasn't letting me (and a load of other people) connect to the switch. Among other problems, it was showing an incorrect password error, which wasn't fixed by either what Nintendo were suggesting or inputting info manually. I'm not sure what was causing the issues, and searching for it only confirmed i wasn't alone, without giving any kind of solution either.

As I said, Android 12 works fine.

Since updating to Android 11, this has not seemed to work. In trying to figure out some work arounds to this, however, I did figure out how to connect an Android phone by cable to the Switch. By using the method discussed in the article for connecting a pc, with the USB A end of the cable going into an otg cable which is plugged into your phone. When you connect, your phone may ask what app you want it to use. Google photos seemed like the best option here for me.

Not a great method, if we're being honest. I do hope they come up with a solution to this Android 11 problem, as they don't even seem to have noticed it so far...

Re: Random: Sakurai Seems To Be Finally Taking A Break From Smash Bros. Development, With The PS5

MarkieMAN64

I like that they are open to the other companies offerings. I don't like the idea of game developers being so loyal to the company they work for to the point of blanking out what everyone else is doing.

This on top of the fact that the Switch really does work under a TV with either an Xbox or PlayStation in ways they don't necessarily with each other.

I think PS5 and Switch are a good combination. I have my Switch mainly for the exclusives I can't get on my PS5, and that seems to have worked out pretty well for Nintendo.

Re: Talking Point: So, What Are The Chances We'll See A 'New' Nintendo Switch In 2021?

MarkieMAN64

I think it's as likely as not at present, to be honest. Let's also be clear that no matter when they'd announce/release any new version, there's probably be some disappointed customers who has just bought the old one.

I'm also holding off on hunting for a PS5 at the moment (not that finding one of those is an easy task at present) whole I await more potential news on a new Switch...which might not come. I can't be the only one, surely. If they wait too long and then announce release though, I'd imagine lots of people well have decided to buy the latest consoles from Sony or Microsoft.

Re: Nintendo's Switch Online Mobile App Just Got Another Minor Update

The keyboard function for use with ACNH is useful. I'd love to see them extend that to be able to use your phone's keyboard for typing when sharing photos/videos too. Using the in built keyboard is a drag. I know you can plug in a USB keyboard, but using my phone's would be so much more convenient and portable.

Re: Random: KFC Makes Animal Crossing Island, Gives Visitors Free Real-Life Chicken

MarkieMAN64

@Heavyarms55 totally unrelated laws. What you're describing with the video game bars sounds like they purchased a game meant for personal use only for a commercial purpose, which of course would be against the law (here, and I assume in other countries like the Philippines).

Using Animal Crossing in this way certainly isn't illegal. The most it could be is against terms of use/service, which it's HIGHLY unlikely to be, in the same way if a company has a Twitter account, they can use it to advertise.

There are so many examples of companies using ACNH to advertise, and Nintendo being fully on board with it. Obviously there's a line companies can't cross, but this is so far behind the line, it's not even funny. My favourite example of using ACNH to advertise has been the various gaming companies releasing outfits from their famous characters on ACNH, and like this example, people getting involved would need to follow the companies to get the code to take part.

An example where advertising wouldn't be suitable would be in public chats in games, where those in the game could not avoid it. This is not that.

Re: Soapbox: I've Been Playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons Wrong All This Time, But No More

MarkieMAN64

Yeah the rating system annoys me and doesn't recognise simplicity. My island still looks like a remote island...with a few houses and simple buildings added, yes. But still a remote paradise. My own house has fencing around it, and it's now possible to get to anywhere on the island without needing the vaulting pole or ladders, but that's pretty much it.

The flowers spread like crazy on my clifftops, and I mainly just let them do their own thing unless they get in the way. At some point in the future, I might play the hybrid flower game, but I'm happy allowing them to hybridise mostly naturally for now. I have no paths, although I might add some at some point. I do remove all the weeds, personally. I like my island. I also like a few of my friend's islands which have been decorated with completely different visions and styles to mines.

Yeah sure. At some point, I might go down the route of outdoor decoration...but I'd prefer to do that because I want to, not because I need to.

Re: Square Enix Collective Reveals First-Person Puzzle-Shooter The Turing Test For Nintendo Switch

MarkieMAN64

Looks nice. First person puzzle games are likely going to always be compared to the Portal series. I don't think that's a bad comparison per se, but as long as that doesn't limit or restrict people's expectations. Q.U.B.E. 2 was also compared to Portal quite a bit when that came out (by the way, for anyone who played that when it first came out on the Switch and got annoyed with audio issues, pop in and other technical issues, these have been very much improved on).

I think bringing up Portal is useful and the similarities in the visuals of the trailer really do seem clear...just as long as that doesn't limit.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Games

MarkieMAN64

I find rating games very difficult. I know when I like a game and when I don't. Not a whole lot in between. Most I own would probably end up being 9s with a couple of 10s in there. Those I've not liked are only really personal preference most of the time, as opposed to my thinking they are just bad games. Just saying.

Edit: realised after I'd wrote this that I'd actually rated most of my games already. Maaan. Past me was smart. Ever think that?! Haha
