@Moon You could always play DS tower defense games like Ninja Town, Starship Patrol, Plants vs. Zombies and Lock's Quest thanks to backwards compatibility.
A lot of Wii owners have migrated to PlayStation 4, because PS4 is where the new games are. And then there are the Wii holdouts who still enjoy that great console - Just Dance still sells a whole lot more on Wii than Wii U!
Yup, seems like a cheap knockoff of Just Dance. With all the Just Dance games still available for Wii, and Just Dance 2016 heading to Wii U and Wii in October, there's really no reason to give this a shake.
Wiimote & Nunchuk controls were one important feature which made the Mario Galaxy games better than their predecessors. This probably won't feature controls like in the Galaxy games, so how it looks is irrelevant.
@hYdeks That "barely anyone" will probably be at least a few million people who care enough to buy the game, not to mention all the people who will then play those games with friends, family and others.
@rjejr Hah. Nice of you to remember that, I guess. The Wii Mini was a shoddy downgrade though, a Gamepad-less Wii U would be an upgrade of course!
As for Just Dance upgraders, there's not a whole lot that Wii U or the other HD consoles have offered before, at least. Just Dance has a graphical style that scales up pretty well to big flatscreen TVs even on Wii's SD resolution, and there are still a huge number of people with Wiis in use. This Just Dance Unlimited thing could spur some upgrades, but then again, Wii has the whole massive Just Dance back catalog available as disc releases. The thing with the Wii releases is, it's easy to take those discs to anybody who still has a Wii - or a Wii U! If you buy the Wii U version, then you have a lot less people who have the console and thus can play that version.
@rjejr There have been several free DLC tracks over the course of the Just Dance series, some of which are even still available. The paid DLC tracks have also been fairly popular. Just Dance 3 even had that Mario track!
The online mode has also been completely free on Wii and other consoles where there's no separate subscription. The online mode still sees a lot monthly, weekly and even daily players, even in JD2014, so obviously the fans just don't get tired of Just Dance.
And what's more is that Ubisoft is hosting the Wii online mode for Just Dance on their own servers, so it wasn't affected when Nintendo's own Wii online services were cut off.
@ThomasBW84 This is just a problem with the Gamepad. Use two Wiimotes or any other two supported controllers other than the Gamepad, and it works right away without any Gamepad hassle required.
"Guitar Hero Live is something of a comeback for the franchise, which became massively popular during the PlayStation 2 era but faltered during the last console war."
What? Nintendolife offering some of their revisionist history again. The Guitar Hero series did start on PS2, but it was in the Wii/etc. generation that it really started becoming popular, especially with Guitar Hero 3. The oversupply of guitar games further into the generation was what killed the genre for a while, when Activision and EA were pumping out half a dozen guitar games, add-ons and spin-offs a year (did anybody really need Guitar Hero Van Halen or Lego Rock Band?)
"take the money you'd spend on an afternoon's worth of Jewels, put it towards [any other game] instead, and let the endless supply of [altogether different gameplay] tide you over between Shuffles."
Good advice, but why limit yourself to Pokemon games? Play any other game or games between your Shuffle sessions, and get a wider gaming experience that way.
With one cart in your 2DS/3DS plus downloadable games, it's easy to swap between any number of games on the go.
In the previous year compared here, Wii U had trash games like Game & Wario, Wind Waker HD and Mario 3D World. Compared to games like those, of course there's some growth in sales with Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors and Smash, but overall figures are still very low. The Gamepad console has simply been one huge mistake from Nintendo with only a few noteworthy releases.
Nintendo really hasn't been the master lately with their 3DS bumbling. I find myself playing much fewer 3DS games now than on GB, GBA, DS, DSi... which I still keep playing. I hope Nintendo's next handheld will be a return to form after the 3DS missteps.
@Caryslan Did you even read the news? 3DS console sales are down 36 % (1.8 million consoles) despite New 3DS, Smash Bros. and Youkai Watch. Wii U console sales are down 32 % despite Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. Meanwhile, the PS4 is closing in on 1 million consoles sold, while Japan is still in transition period between PS3 and PS4.
Worldwide, the situation is a nightmare for Nintendo. 3DS and Wii U are dying.
"It looked so cool that I also want it to appear in games I work on."
I want Aonuma to stop working on Zelda. He doesn't even realize why the Master Cycle fits in Mario Kart 8 but not in the Zelda world. If Aonuma's allowed to continue, he'll make the "Final Fantasy 13" of the Zelda series.
Remember the kind of ridiculous things Sony kept saying through the early years of the PlayStation 3, while it was failing hard in the market? Now Nintendo's doing it.
That "creativity" won't do you any good if nobody's playing your games, Nintendo. Even heavy hitters like Mario Kart suffer from severely diminished sales.
"E3 was a big step in the right direction in converting the Wii U's image from 'doomed' system to being a fun console with must-have games."
Noooope. E3 made Wii U even more "doomed". Certainly not fun.
@Shambo What is there to play now? Mario Kart 8, and that's it for the whole summer. Rest of 2014? Very dry with some sprinklings of Hyrule Warriors and Smash. The 2015 announced lineup? Absolutely terrible save for Xenoblade X.
Nintendo can't be happy about these results. Just in its third week, Mario Kart Wii sold over 300,000 copies in Japan, reaching over 1,1 million copies total. Even Mario Kart 8 is failing to push more than a marginal number of Wii U consoles all around the world. At this rate, it's possible Nintendo won't even reach their massively reduced 3,6 million Wii Us yearly worldwide estimate.
@sketchturner It's last week's figure. It means that even the miniscule hardware bump that Mario Kart 8 gave to the Gamepad console is decreasing.

No mention of Just Dance 2016? For shame, Nintendolife.
Re: Super Mario Maker Tops The Charts In Japan, Causes Wii U Sales To Double
@SaKo Nintendoland shows off why the Gamepad is such a terrible controller!
Bad game collection, bad controller. They go well together.
Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Super Mario Platformer? - 30th Anniversary Edition

Best "New" Mario: NSMB Wii

@DiscoGentleman "Growing party console"? The Wii U? Thanks for the laugh!
Re: Gunman Clive HD Collection Will Shoot Its Way to North America, Europe and Australia Next Week
Great games. And supposed to have Wiimote support in the HD collection!
Re: Double Dose Of Sin & Punishment Arrives On North American Wii U Virtual Console Tomorrow
Sin & Punishment 2 is fantastic. The first one hasn't aged very well. And if you play S&P2 with stick controls instead of the Wiimote, you're a fool.
Re: Bowser and Toad Wii Remote Plus Controllers Heading to Europe on 20th November
I probably need to buy at least 1 replacement Wiimote soon. My old ones are starting to show some wear & tear from so much use.
Re: Future Of Trine Series In Doubt Following Negative Reaction To Third Outing
People liked Trine and Trine 2 for their 2.5D gameplay. The 3D world of Trine 3 just doesn't look as fun to play.

@Tsurii Just Dance 2015 sold over 4 million copies... heyooo!
Re: Ubisoft Announces Just Dance: Disney Party 2 Is Coming To The Wii U This Holiday Season
This selection doesn't seem too hot. I'll just get Just Dance 2016, thanks.
@firechicken98 The Just Dance main games are absolutely fantastic.

Re: Review: Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time (Wii U eShop / DS)
Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story are much better than this. Do yourself a favor and buy/play those first.

Ultimate? Ultimate trash more like.
Re: Matters Of Import: 3D Gunstar Heroes Is Hyperactive Run And Gun Action At Its Finest
The 3DS d-pad isn't good for this kind of game. You're better off downloading the Wii Virtual Console version.

Re: Just Dance 2016 is Bringing Its Funky Moves to Wii U and Wii
@TurboPikachu But the Wii U version is hindered by the need to have the obnoxious Gamepad in order to use some features of the console.
So in that sense, the Wii version is actually superior to the Wii U version.
Re: Just Dance 2016 is Bringing Its Funky Moves to Wii U and Wii
Need to go find the tracklist for this.
Re: Just Dance 2016 is Bringing Its Funky Moves to Wii U and Wii
@ikki5 The PS360 have also stalled. It looks like they might never catch the Wii despite Nintendo dropping Wii support so early.
Re: Just Dance 2016 is Bringing Its Funky Moves to Wii U and Wii
Wooooww, Just Dance Unlimited sounds great!
@TurboPikachu Have you played the latest Just Dance games on Wii? They're actually pretty great. And they have the best controller, the Wii Remote!
Just Dance 2015 sold most on Wii, and it sold a lot. The same might even continue with JD2016.
Re: Dragon Quest VIII Won't Support The 3DS Console's Autostereoscopic Display
Good, more resources for the actual game! The 3D is crappy anyway.

Wii U is dead. Bring on the NX.
Re: Feature: Ten Upcoming Nindie eShop Games to Watch on Wii U and 3DS
When it comes to content, the Wii and DSi download shops were much better than their Wii U and 3DS versions.
Even here, you've included a port of DSiWare game - not so tough to resist when you still have the original.

Even 48,000 to 60,000 is a "rise" in hardware sales too. If the effect is anything bigger, why wouldn't they share exact numbers?
Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 is selling as well as it can on the Gamepad console. It's a good game with minimal Gamepad implementation.
Re: Video: Watch Our Handy Highlight Video To See How Nintendo Silenced Its Critics At E3 2014
No, just no. There has been a lot of criticism, and Nintendolife has become a bastion of ignorance if it claims otherwise.
Showing "highlights" of Nintendo's terrible E3 showing is grasping at straws.
Re: Talking Point: Keeping It Simple Helped Nintendo Triumph At E3
Triumph? Nintendo's E3 was a quagmire.
