Who uses that terrible controller for Virtual Console games with all the lag??? Wiimote, Pro Controller, whatever - use a better controller with less lag!

If Switch was looking like an otherwise good system, but didn't have these apps, it might be a problem. But Switch is looking bad and I'm not getting it, so whether it has these apps or not is not a problem for me.

Curious how 2DS is selling so much more than the regular New 3DS model. 2DS seems to have taken the New 3DS's place in Japan as the "compact" model. But of course, 2DS is a lot more comfortable to play on.

And these are the slow weeks, back during the holiday weeks 2DS was doing 5-figure numbers.

I have a 32 gig SD card in my 2DS. It cost much less than these, and that was a while ago.

Remember how a lot people said they already had most of the Zelda games they wanted and might buy 1-2 discounted titles at most? Well, Nintendo heard ya!

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Plenty of new 2DS and 3DS owners out there after the holidays, and some of them want to get their Mario Kart on.

Just Dance 2017 still hanging in there, at position 27 in the all-format charts this week. That game just keeps selling week after week, even despite being released 3 months ago.

@nab1 I'm expressing my opinion. You know, leaving a comment, from my own perspective. If you can't trust NL to make credible articles about Wii U games, can you trust them with Switch games?

@TJF588 That's just a marketing point that Nintendo apologists like NL like to trot out. Playing with the Gamepad is an absolute pain and a detriment to any game.

@Oscarzxn Trophies, PS4 Dualshock 4 controller, smoother operation, and PSN account system, for starters.

@Captain_Gonru Shantae, Axiom, Steamworld, Guacamelee, Runner 2, all better on PS4. Shovel Knight could be too, but I can't remember exactly right now. Of almost all the worthwhile games on this list, it's better to get them on PS4.

And to top that off, many of the Wii U exclusives on the list are trash.

@Folkloner FAST is one of the few exceptions, but it's better to get that on disc instead of eShop.

Runner 2 is better on PS4.

That you could pick out two exceptions and one is on disc, one is better on PS4 is very telling.

Almost everything here is better on PS4, or better just skipped. Very few games on Wii U eShop are actually worth your money: Runbow, NES Remixes and Gunman Clive Collection basically. (Though I admit Noitu Love looks interesting and I haven't yet played it.)

It's about the games. Wii and DS were relatively low powered, but they had fantastic games. 3DS and Wii U were more powerful, but they were lacking in the games department. Switch has more than enough power for good games, but those won't just appear out of thin air.

Wii U was a catastrophe, that's why publishers and even Nintendo themselves are so quick to move on. At the same time, Wii is still getting new games like Just Dance 2017. And as the recent UK charts show, Wii owners are still buying these games.

Over 33,000 sold 2DS systems in just one week, and we're not even in the proper holiday weeks yet. Bet Nintendo is real happy that they finally released 2DS in Japan... and at the same time kicking themselves in the head for not doing it sooner.

Still a better game than FF13 or 15.

NL conveniently neglects to mention that Just Dance 2017 rose 10 positions up to number 12 on the all-format charts, with the Wii version leading the charge. Yet they bother to tout the miniscule sales at places 37 and 39. NL - fail and unbalanced.

Nintendo thought Microsoft's "always online" DRM for Xbone was such a good idea, they wanted to copy it.

@ULTRA-64 I don't know where you've seen that "universal" praise? I haven't read NL's own review, maybe there? But whatever the case, the Gamepad features are a blight on an otherwise good game. It would have been a travesty against gaming if this had only been a Wii U exclusive.

For once, a mostly good NL list. Rayman Legends is better on other platforms, though.

You just know NL is just having a laugh at you. When Star Fox Zero is on a list of "essential" Wii U games, that tells you two things: 1) a list like this has no value, 2) the Wii U game library is utterly abysmal.

You just know a lot of those are 2DS systems. No 3D handheld there!

Wii U was garbage, and most of its games were garbage. It got what it deserved.

The Wii U was garbage. It will always have apologists (just look at NL here pointing at bad games to justify the system!), but video game history will barely remember Wii U, and even then, only as a massive failure. It will be a joke of the future, like the Virtual Boy.

Why buy a N3DS when you can get a 2DS? 2DS is simply the better choice.
