@MrGawain yeah they’re stretching it a bit calling the store an attraction. Cafe Toadstool definitely is an attraction as well as the interactive game throughout the land….after you buy your $40 wristband that is.
@Prizm the problem with that is the size of the area. They definitely need all the walking space they can get. The good news is the cafe inside has amazing visuals and details that really add to the immersive experience while you are chilling.
Mario Kart was simply amazing and these pictures just don’t do justjce at the AWE you feel when you first set your sights at the land and realize………your childhood dream has come true. Barely after you exit Princess Peach’s Castle too! BRAVO to the folks at Universal and INCREDIBLE detail to the land.
The way the music plays and the technique they split the multiple Mario game themes in different sections especially in waiting for Mario Kart…..just great nostalgia. The food by Chef Toad is good too!
Met these guys at a video game signing in Burbank, CA. Great bunch of people, you could tell they are passionate about the Kunio-kun and Double Dragon series. It was cool to hear them talk about how they, last minute, pitched the River City Girls idea to Arc System Works. Congratulations to them!
Finally! Caught this randomly last night in the eShop browsing some Black Friday deals. I purposely waited this long for these to finally be discounted, and alone for that this makes it a big deal to swoop in and get those titles on your Wish List. Definitely taking advantage of this sale.as I doubt we won’t see the 50% sale in another two years if that.
Learning from the Comments that the code doesn’t even include songs now…..wow how far has Ubisoft regressed. I understand the cost cutting features but heck if that’s the case, up the price to reflect it, and not deviate from quality without letting your fan base know. At least be upfront that 2023 is the year of real subscription plan for the IP.
By the way, I call bull and ridiculous that people over 55 don’t know how to use an eShop code. Please, if they’re still gaming at this point, surely digital gaming isn’t anything new. I think it’s truly more for the (1) collectors as even physical games are now practically an investment, and (2) those of us in social media that must have a display to show off the collection and food for egos.
@k8sMum I don’t know about that. I’m not disagreeing but the “older” people nowadays were the parents of the first console gamers……so I think in the future that stereotype should more and more disappear.
Happy birthday to the man who changed the video game industry forever and continuously since 1977. Which also means we got Super Mario Bros. when he was 33 years old, and directed Super Mario 64 when he was 44.
I’m just very surprised none of the Zelda 8-bit games had a dungeon listed. I’m sure the author has played through them and surely there’s gotta be a dungeon in one of those that stands out…..
I'm just as excited to own this collection. I also own the previous Collection but since Digital Eclipse was handling this package, there's no doubt the quality to the biggest fans would not disappoint. If anything, my biggest gripe is that we do not have the Activision games included........for obvious reasons.......that would have made this feel like a complete package to those of us born in the 70's
Cool review (sparing Tom the hit on the "garbage" comment ). But it's a shame the game took a dump in the playability! I liked the first one for the beat-em up it was and how it tied to the show. I'm sorry to hear the Switch underperforms compared to other systems' version of the same game.
Like Jim Norman, New Leaf was my very first AC game. That being said, as much as I got into that game and the daily chores, customization etc., I’ve always regarded the New Horizons game as “New Leaf DX”. It feels the same but there’s just so much to do those first 100 hours as well as the terraforming which was a big game changer.
The only disappointment for me was I really wanted to see more minerals (like ruby and emerald in New Leaf).
If Sega was smart, they would have figured by now to tie their Sonic Frontiers game release with a promotional release of the Sonic game for the Neo Geo Pocket Color.
@KevynOnVideo Wow! I like how you created your own “ending” to the game as a way to check yourself out. Very imaginative!
What I do is add a backstory to each of the characters I’ve added and let go. I post their stories on the bulletin board and since I have the New Leaf town, I usually narratively tie that location and those residents too!
Is it possible to go BACK in time and see old bulletin posts? I regret not saving the ones from the pandemic.
Definitely picking it up, as there won’t be another physical release for this game. I’ve never heard of it prior to the Nintendo Direct but it looks like interesting premise to me. Thank you NL!
Given that Azure Striker Gunvolt was created as a few visually and game-mechanically spiritual successors to Mega Man X, I’d say Capcom has their hands full creating more impressive sequels to that line.
That being said, congratulations to the developers for creating a very successful next gen version to the main line entry!
I also own Atari Flashback Classics and this looks like so much fun. Digital Eclipse is involved and there are 6 remastered games / sequels. Sounds worth it! I’d like to get the Atari DS collection too that has remixes..
@Jbuggydroid completely agree but knowing that Bannon (the lead creator of River City Underground) works for Wayforward now and worked on River City Girls 2, we can suspect it’s a good possibility!
I like Marion’s look but I’m disappointed her hair color doesn’t match the original NES and arcade games!
I don’t think anyone here is trying to change other ppl’s minds, let alone just point out some facts or a reason why an argument doesn’t hold fruit. I’m glad there’s a healthy debate here about opinions on the matter.
That being said, I appreciate with journalists who are respected publish such articles such as the likely offer Helena received as opposed to those that just jump down others’ throats at the first whiff of unfairness. That likely offer to me sounded very fair. Everyone who has ever had a job believes they should earn more money 🤷🏻♂️
It was pretty petty for the original voice actress to tell people to stop buying the game as a result of her own personal decision. Even worse that the internet trolls magnified that same opinion……knowing full well they’re getting the game themselves!
@TanukiTrooper well summarized! Unfortunately it’s difficult for some to understand that “well paid” is subjective most of the time in that industry. Meanwhile the developers always get shafted compared to the “talent”.
I think the fact that this game is horribly developed should be a bigger issue. So many bugs and errors…and these updates make it feel like 100% of the game isn’t really released yet.
I agree with my fellow community members here that it was pretty cool for the to release this game as a treat to SNES fans. This to me is in the same way they released a localized Earthbound Beginnings on the Wii U and the Switch original version of a localized Fire Emblem. Gives me hope for other future surprise localizations…….like Earthbound 3!
What would be more cool is if Starfox 2 was released in a physical format like Fire Emblem was!
I was lucky to go to Comic -Con ( hey it’s tricky to get into unless you buy the tickets early or have a lot of money to drop) but seeing him in all its glory was pretty cool knowing how many Lego bricks it took and how animated it was.
I think from what I’m reading is that this should be one of those “on sale” games. I liked the presentation during the Nintendo Direct but I’ve never heard of the game before the port to the Switch. I would pick up this game physical to be honest.
@anoyonmus I remember the same comment. What a load of baloney, shame on the guy for coming off as if he knew the tech limits of the Switch and not speaking honestly.
Nintendo obviously approved this design, and I say kudos to her for getting the gig. I like that they’re in touch with those digital artists that are part of the creative voice of the social media generation.
@alexybubble thank you for the reply. To be fair, Konami’s Super Bomberman for the Switch also got the “R” suffix, and the Western devs back then said it stood for “ranger” or “returns”. Had a hard time accepting that but your explanation makes sense.
Wasn’t a fan of the 2003 cartoon, so to be fair, I never gave the 2000’s games a chance. I think the golden egg that Konami crafted together, along with Digital Eclipse’s content and Nickolodeon’s okay, is good enough for a LONG time. For all future generations too. You can’t compete with a collection of games superbly done within a 6 yr period. Incredible history here.
@KoopaTheGamer but when they don’t, it is. And that’s why there is a general protective stance opinion about it. I’m not a parent, but I see the viewpoint.
This article present a fun idea. If SNK has done it with their King of Fighters series, why can’t Capcom? I think it would work because let’s see how SFVI performs, to check out Capcom’s latest fighting development abilities. I agree with @CharlieGirl that the SNK crossover update is a more important release right now though.

Interesting review! It looks like the game is geared toward fans mainly but there’s no reason why not pick this one up for a spin.
What does the “R” mean in the title? Is it common for sequel games in Japan to have this suffix?
