Hazellight Studios' Game of the Year winner at the 2021 Game Awards, It Takes Two, is making the jump to Switch on 4th November. This was one of the many announcements that was heavily rumoured by multiple people last week, but it's fantastic to see this acclaimed title finally hop over to the hybrid console.
This platforming adventure game sees a married couple, who are on the brink of divorce, get turned into dolls by their daughter. Rose then play-acts with the two dolls in an attempt to fix her parent's relationship. The game is a co-op experience designed to be played split-screen with a partner — or friend, or whoever you want (or online, even!). The game's multiple levels are inspired by different genres and each one requires you to co-operate with your partner in order to progress.
The trailer shared by publisher EA gives us a glimpse at what the game will look like on Switch, which looks a bit less smooth than its other console counterparts. But we'll have to wait and see until the game is in our hands before we make our judgements!
Our friends over at Push Square enjoyed their time with the game, calling it an "excellent co-op adventure", though had some criticisms about the inconsistent plot, awarding it an 8/10.
Will you be getting It Takes Two on Switch on 4th November? Let us know in the comments!

This is a FANTASTIC game. Best game of 2021 for sure (and I say that as a Metroid fan who anticipated Dread since Fusion came out). My kids and I had a blast playing through It Takes Two, but I won't get it on Switch since I already have it on PS4.
Great game, one of the best two-players ever imo.
didn't EA say this couldn't work on Switch?
Or the developers said this couldn't work on Switch?
Need to release a physical edition
Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock should've done the theme song for this. 🔥

... Wun can only hope.
I'm interested given all the acclaim and praise this game has gotten, however I'm not sure I'd have someone over to play through the whole thing couch co-op style consistently enough for it to make $ense.
... Wun can only hope.
I really hate forced 2-player games like this. It really limits you when you don't have friends that also regurally play games.
@sanderev Yeah. I did play this game with 2 gamepads alone, but only for 20 minutes or so to see how the game is.
Should have had a online mode or something.
I find it kind of ironic that the game that stole “best multiplayer game” from Nintendo at the game awards, a title that they usually win in a layup, is now on Nintendo platforms. I’ll probably pick this up at some point, it looks fun, and I like co-op games. I’ll just need to find a partner, because it’s a little too adult-oriented for my little brother.
Nice to see this finally making its way to Switch. Seems like the perfect platform for it.
@sanderev I see where you're coming from but my spouse and I have a really tough time finding co-op games to play. This game was a godsend and honestly so much fun! I couldn't even imagine playing it alone, honestly.
Played this w/ wife, and my kids played together.
My teen kids didn't like the constant "here's a new gadget you can only use for 20 minutes on this stage then never use again gadget" mechanic, and they couldn't really appreciate the bickering couple storyline.
My wife and I liked it well enough but we all agreed this wasn't "GotY" material in any year not during a global pandemic. It was fine, just don't buy into the hype.
For me, the 3rd to last stage is the best, next was middling, last was 1 of the worst, so that didn't help my overall feel when it was done.
It was $40, BF sale for $20, no regrets.
A cool co-op game, saw this at the Game Awards and was hoping it came to Switch someday and now it did so can't wait to try it.
I personally am going to be holding any positive comments on this one until I see how good the performance is. I have been wanting to play this game for quite a long time, but I didn't think a Switch port was even a possibility. How well this port is done will determine what console I end up getting this on. I really want to get it on Nintendo Switch...
Nice to know the Nintendo Switch now magically has enough buttons to play these games.
Sarcasm aside. Heard good things about this so will likely grab at some point. Just a massive shame that some of the money will be going to EA.
@anoyonmus The excuse for this and A Way Out use to be the Nintendo Switch didn't have enough controller buttons to play these games which literally makes zero sense. But that was just a load to bullcrap Joseff has to spout for EA not wanting to support Nintendo releases at the time.
This is a good get for the Switch.
Of course I'll be double dipping!
A bit surprised and I don't own this game yet. So maybe grab the Switch version, if a physical release is ahead.
Amazing game, me and my son had a great time playing through this. Has some brilliant mechanics and gameplay and constantly changes things up.
Be interesting to see how it looks and runs on the switch.
This game looked really great and especially fun mechanically.
However, I was turned off by the fact that the central theme is supposed to be a couple's relationship troubles, yet the wife is portrayed as confident and capable while the husband is portrayed as a bumbling idiot. Even their run animations reflect this. That imbalance and inequality completely undermined the theme for me. If you liked it, I'm happy for you, but it was a total miss for me.

@Chocobo_Shepherd So what you're saying is, your feelings were hurt.
@GuyProsciutto
I will
I am allowed my opinion. And when you tell someone to grow up, you should look in a mirror.
If only Nintendo knew how to actually successfully pull off local co-op.
@GuyProsciutto Nope. Just can't into poorly written narratives.
LOL I'm happy that it is coming to switch but not for me. Had to deal with the real life version growing up. I'm good.
Congratulations to both Hazelight and Turn Me Up for achieving this
The game it's incredible, easily 2021 best game, please try it people
While I'd like to try this game due to how critically acclaimed it is, not to mention its themes, local co-op only will be a problem for me.
@anoyonmus I remember the same comment. What a load of baloney, shame on the guy for coming off as if he knew the tech limits of the Switch and not speaking honestly.
Married gamers rejoice! But seriously this is exciting for couples that game together.
I hate to say this, but....

This game is not full in one cartridge, download required.
Sorry, guys. Get the PS4 / PS5 version for the best result.
Don't support the partial download practice.
@Magrane that comment clearly did not age well.
Never have I seen a game so antithetical to my gaming habits: a co-op multiplayer only title
