@JJ286 Nope. I was just commenting that I'd rather wait for the physical version, because in the past I have felt burned after picking up a digital copy and then a year later, it's announced that a physical release will indeed come out.
@NImH Not that I know of. But I'm willing to wait. I'm avoiding the feeling of regret if I make this purchase and then a year later there's an announcement. Has happened before!
@Moroboshi876 completely agree with your line of thinking! As I mentioned in another thread, the 3D stereoscopic aspect gives it the edge over the Switch version, and I still get the new levels! I already have my little friend in HD with the Wii U version.
Interesting review! This will be my first "random-level generator" game, but I hear the formula works for this type of platformer. Looking forward to it π
Guys and gals, this was NOT a box discovered under the shelves, but the cardboard game display. Take a look at how thin the item is in between the photo taker's fingers. It was also debunked a couple of days after this image went viral. N64 game boxes were at least an inch thick.
@LinktotheFuture So true. I cave in after seeing the E3 discount for Pac-Man CE 2, even after thinking to myself "this won't be available physical", and now lo and behold. Would have been nice to own both physically, but unless I see a major discount for that retail release, I'm good.
I could almost cry.... π’π’ tears of joy that is. β€οΈβ€οΈπ
I have always HATED that Capcom chose this route back then. The Mega Man X boss naming convention has always been an animal or plant reference. The Capcom woman who made this God-awful decision in the 90's ruined it for me and I think the rest of the series's translated names were also tainted as a result. So glad there's a fix to this and this just makes, as weird as it sounds, me want to own this game even more.
Only a hardcore Mega Man fan would have my strange emotional trigger ππππ»
@Moroboshi876 I'm in the same boat. On one hand, I own the beautiful Wii U version. But I haven't played it enough, even though some day I know I will. Now, with the Switch and 3DS announcements, at first I didn't want to double dip. But it doesn't look like I have much of a choice given that the 3DS version will be in stereoscopic 3D and still have the new levels. I justify double dipping in that I may not play the Wii U version as much but why get a Switch version if I already own the full size HD version. With the 3DS version, I can get the same portability as the Switch and the new level gimmick too.
@Malcrash No worries. I was just surprised because he was huge during the 2000's on the popular TV show "24", which reignited his career. Now he's on "Designated Survivor".
@Not_Soos Thank you for that! My Mario Tennis Open game remains sealed and I'm hesitating opening it. Paid $15 for it but glad to hear it is a fun game regardless.
Great article! Thank you Nintendolife for this. I'm sure there are aspiring graphic designers in the gaming world who like these kinds of details (and fans!).
As footage is slowly released, I'm growing more and more excited......
I'm glad I didn't pick up the 3DS version of the original now, considering this nice deal for the Switch. Too bad it won't apply to 3DS owners though π
These kinds of bonuses are great incentives. I also picked up Bandai's Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden on the 3DS for its inclusion of a code to download Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 2. Legitimately owning the first part on the Switch is now a must for me. This is another reason why I'm a major Nintendo fan - the gaming legacy is respected by the original major game developers.
Where can I pre-order the game with the exclusive download content?
By the way, please be aware that the game we will be downloading may not include any of the original stages' music, as there was (or maybe still is) a major copyright battle between the original composer and Bandai.
I definitely want this game based on reviews, comments, the trailer and hearsay....but just like Yooka-Laylee, I'm going to wait for the probable physical release.
Already pre-ordered the limited collector edition from the SNK website on the first day it was announced. Super excited for the home versions of these games that I grew up with on the NES.....finally! It makes the whole loss of the virtual console less painful truthfully. This collection is really aimed for those that have nostalgic attachments to these games......and the market is there. Crystalis alone should be a good reason for most to pick this up.
The 3DS, in my opinion, with its incredible backlog of VC, 3D stereoscopic versions, and amazing backlog of DS games, truly is the best handheld you can get for your buck....possibly ever. If you're thinking of getting one, now is the time as the Virtual Console is still available with classic games and DSi-ware that may not see the Switch.
I know that Nintendo is obviously phasing it out, but I'm so happy at least we will get to see some digital releases this year and a 3D Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker as a nice little alternative to HD gaming versions.
That earlier comment about the audience being the casual gamer is true. I've been telling my casual gamer friends on the fence to head out and get a New 3DS model and they have been. Sure, they may not make no more new games for it soon, but the library associated with this system will last for YEARS!
I don't know why I avoided this game in the 90's. Maybe because of the hand-drawn style and the hearsay about how annoying the baby noise was! I associated Mario with the SMW graphics and not something that looked "childish". Over the years, I never garnered the interest to at least give it a shot despite all the remakes and re-releases. Heck, I played Super Princess Peach before this game! And I loved Super Mario RPG and Donkey Kong Country, each with their distinctive non-traditional graphics.
Then, it was released on the SNES Classic. Mind blown. π³
What have I been missing all these years! I feel as if I'm playing a newly released game from a time warp! I should have never denied myself the pleasure.
Can anyone comment if the DS version is anymore "enhanced"?
@KnightRider666 Totally agree about the hopefulness I had with Fix-It Felix being a bonus on the Wreck-it Ralph video game. Is it for 100% sure it's not in the 3DS or DS versions? π
Mega Man 3 was by far the best in the series. The original catchy music, introduction of the slide and the colorful cartoony graphics ala Mega Man 2, on top of a decent story (with betrayal! Gasp!) and Frankenstein-ish mid-bosses, I felt was the pinnacle. You could tell the developers and Inafune really stretched the NES capabilities and spend serious time on it. MM4 is arguably different and a small step up from it too.
That being said, looking forward to spending quality time with MM 9, from what I'm hearing in this thread,....
By the way, I love how Capcom paid homage to Mega Man 1's "Start button- time slowdown" glitch by adding the Double Gear feature with a similar technique. Bravo Capcom, bravo ππ
@joey302 It wasn't Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask because I own it and never bought a Layton game. I got it from buying the 3DS version of CrossworDS digitally. It was definitely for a temporary special offer.
I think the most entertaining part of this article are the Comments debates. This discussion still rages on even though Nintendo just stated it was built from the ground up and has thousands of differences ππ. This game is not the Wii U version.
So happy my personal favorite expectation Bomberman finally made it! Assist trophy......but still! Crossing my fingers for Simon Belmont and I'd be a truly happy NES gamer tribute camper! Surprised Akuma or Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins still hasn't shown up, unless I missed them as an assist before?
I wouldn't mind Ray Man and Shovel Knight being included also! Or even a Contra assist trophy!
Who has played the PS4 version and can comment on the footage? Does it appear like the game looks pretty darn close to the Switch version? As a DBZ fan, would you at the moment think I won't have regrets paying for the Switch version instead?
Bravo to the Limited Run team on their presentation! Decent announcements and the QA session afterwards revealed a young small company excited to satisfy the "physical release" fans as much as possible.
By the way, Saturday Morning RPG 2 was announced in development during the QA.
I'm excited for the Yooka-Laylee physical (glad I waited) but unfortunately I was left disappointed they didn't address the fans who were asking about physical Stardew Valley Switch! π
I've been in the habit of simply waiting a year or so for those digital-to-physical releases to actually happen. Sonic Mania proved my point of the likelihood of popular games actually getting a physical edition.
Hoping Stardew Valley is announced ππ»ππ»ππ»
That bottom right picture with what looks like Balrog in a chained collar....? Needless to say that would have invoked a huge controversy in the States.
Did anyone else get a physical version that included the "free cleaning cloth" advertised in this trailer? This was one of the reasons why I picked it up in the first placeπ
I'm interested in this game and now I have a chance to buy it as physical. Is the game actually fun? I'm a fan of nostalgia but like Retro City Rampage, which is great, it should be replayable!

Is he still writing the comic book?

@Donald_M Oh really? That's eggs-citing! I'm going to order it - was it announced at E3 by then for this year?

Re: Random: Toys R Us Employee Finds A Mario Kart 64 Box Hidden Under A Shelf
"Pick up and run" journalism at its best.........

I'm so tempted to shout "Fake News"! π π
Re: Nintendo Download: 5th July (North America)
Pocket Rumble for me, and I was hyped for 20XX until I saw the words "randomly generated" when describing the levels in the Comments section. π
Is that true?

Re: SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Will Hit Your Switch In Time For Christmas
Per my recollection, there was no Crystalis arcade. I believe that was the NES version they were showing off.
So excited for this, more so because most of them will have the NES versions attached! Picked up the Collector's Edition.

Re: Video: Take A Peek At Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night In This New Story Trailer
Super excited. Hope this has higher success than Inafune's attempt. And slaps Konami a wake-up call for a true updated modern 2D Castlevania.
Re: Hands On: Getting On The Go In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker On Switch
@Giygas_95 ...and Nintendoland....and Super Mario Maker....all a matter of time truthfully.
But there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: David Hayter Returns As The Voice Of Snake In Super Bomberman R
Kiefer Sutherland is so not an "old 80's star" lol. He is still very active.
That being said, I sincerely hope these downloads are for the Switch! The trailer didn't advertise that version.
