Re: Review: Bomb Chicken (Switch eShop)

Magrane

@JJ286 Nope. I was just commenting that I'd rather wait for the physical version, because in the past I have felt burned after picking up a digital copy and then a year later, it's announced that a physical release will indeed come out.

Re: Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (3DS)

Magrane

@Moroboshi876 completely agree with your line of thinking! As I mentioned in another thread, the 3D stereoscopic aspect gives it the edge over the Switch version, and I still get the new levels! I already have my little friend in HD with the Wii U version.

Interesting review! This will be my first "random-level generator" game, but I hear the formula works for this type of platformer. Looking forward to it 😊

Re: Random: Toys R Us Employee Finds A Mario Kart 64 Box Hidden Under A Shelf

Magrane

"Pick up and run" journalism at its best.........

Guys and gals, this was NOT a box discovered under the shelves, but the cardboard game display. Take a look at how thin the item is in between the photo taker's fingers. It was also debunked a couple of days after this image went viral. N64 game boxes were at least an inch thick.

I'm so tempted to shout "Fake News"! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚

Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection Removes The Guns β€˜N’ Roses Naming From Mega Man X5

Magrane

I could almost cry.... 😒😒 tears of joy that is. ❀️❀️🎊

I have always HATED that Capcom chose this route back then. The Mega Man X boss naming convention has always been an animal or plant reference. The Capcom woman who made this God-awful decision in the 90's ruined it for me and I think the rest of the series's translated names were also tainted as a result. So glad there's a fix to this and this just makes, as weird as it sounds, me want to own this game even more.

Only a hardcore Mega Man fan would have my strange emotional trigger πŸ˜œπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ»

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Praises Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker On Both Switch And 3DS

Magrane

@Moroboshi876 I'm in the same boat. On one hand, I own the beautiful Wii U version. But I haven't played it enough, even though some day I know I will. Now, with the Switch and 3DS announcements, at first I didn't want to double dip. But it doesn't look like I have much of a choice given that the 3DS version will be in stereoscopic 3D and still have the new levels. I justify double dipping in that I may not play the Wii U version as much but why get a Switch version if I already own the full size HD version. With the 3DS version, I can get the same portability as the Switch and the new level gimmick too.

I pre-ordered the 3DS version πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ»

Re: Dragon Ball FighterZ Arrives On 28th September, Switch Pre-Orders Include Obscure SNES Game

Magrane

These kinds of bonuses are great incentives. I also picked up Bandai's Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden on the 3DS for its inclusion of a code to download Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 2. Legitimately owning the first part on the Switch is now a must for me. This is another reason why I'm a major Nintendo fan - the gaming legacy is respected by the original major game developers.

Where can I pre-order the game with the exclusive download content?

By the way, please be aware that the game we will be downloading may not include any of the original stages' music, as there was (or maybe still is) a major copyright battle between the original composer and Bandai.

Re: Hands On: Turning Back Time With The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection

Magrane

Already pre-ordered the limited collector edition from the SNK website on the first day it was announced. Super excited for the home versions of these games that I grew up with on the NES.....finally! It makes the whole loss of the virtual console less painful truthfully. This collection is really aimed for those that have nostalgic attachments to these games......and the market is there. Crystalis alone should be a good reason for most to pick this up.

Re: Dedicated Handheld Systems Are Still A Key Business Driver For Nintendo

Magrane

The 3DS, in my opinion, with its incredible backlog of VC, 3D stereoscopic versions, and amazing backlog of DS games, truly is the best handheld you can get for your buck....possibly ever. If you're thinking of getting one, now is the time as the Virtual Console is still available with classic games and DSi-ware that may not see the Switch.

I know that Nintendo is obviously phasing it out, but I'm so happy at least we will get to see some digital releases this year and a 3D Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker as a nice little alternative to HD gaming versions.

That earlier comment about the audience being the casual gamer is true. I've been telling my casual gamer friends on the fence to head out and get a New 3DS model and they have been. Sure, they may not make no more new games for it soon, but the library associated with this system will last for YEARS!

Re: Splatoon Producer Reveals How The Art Style In Yoshi’s Island Was Conceived

Magrane

I don't know why I avoided this game in the 90's. Maybe because of the hand-drawn style and the hearsay about how annoying the baby noise was! I associated Mario with the SMW graphics and not something that looked "childish". Over the years, I never garnered the interest to at least give it a shot despite all the remakes and re-releases. Heck, I played Super Princess Peach before this game! And I loved Super Mario RPG and Donkey Kong Country, each with their distinctive non-traditional graphics.

Then, it was released on the SNES Classic. Mind blown. 😳

What have I been missing all these years! I feel as if I'm playing a newly released game from a time warp! I should have never denied myself the pleasure.

Can anyone comment if the DS version is anymore "enhanced"?

Re: Hands On: Falling Into Endless Spike Pits In Mega Man 11

Magrane

Mega Man 3 was by far the best in the series. The original catchy music, introduction of the slide and the colorful cartoony graphics ala Mega Man 2, on top of a decent story (with betrayal! Gasp!) and Frankenstein-ish mid-bosses, I felt was the pinnacle. You could tell the developers and Inafune really stretched the NES capabilities and spend serious time on it. MM4 is arguably different and a small step up from it too.

That being said, looking forward to spending quality time with MM 9, from what I'm hearing in this thread,....

By the way, I love how Capcom paid homage to Mega Man 1's "Start button- time slowdown" glitch by adding the Double Gear feature with a similar technique. Bravo Capcom, bravo 😊😊

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Is Unveiled For Switch, Every Previous Character Returns

Magrane

So happy my personal favorite expectation Bomberman finally made it! Assist trophy......but still! Crossing my fingers for Simon Belmont and I'd be a truly happy NES gamer tribute camper! Surprised Akuma or Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins still hasn't shown up, unless I missed them as an assist before?

I wouldn't mind Ray Man and Shovel Knight being included also! Or even a Contra assist trophy!

Re: Limited Run Games Announces Eight New Physical Game Releases For Switch

Magrane

Bravo to the Limited Run team on their presentation! Decent announcements and the QA session afterwards revealed a young small company excited to satisfy the "physical release" fans as much as possible.

By the way, Saturday Morning RPG 2 was announced in development during the QA.

I'm excited for the Yooka-Laylee physical (glad I waited) but unfortunately I was left disappointed they didn't address the fans who were asking about physical Stardew Valley Switch! πŸ˜•
