Re: Video: 11 Great 3DS Games Overshadowed By The Nintendo Switch

Magrane

@Nintendo4Sonic You’re waaay off that it mainly got Nintendo-only support. Just like the PSP, there were plenty of exclusive 3rd party titles. It’s ok that you didn’t care about the stereoscopic 3D, but many others did.

As far as “support” goes, I overstated that. The PSP had a lot of developers make good games for it that are not on Nintendo systems.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Four More Titles

Magrane

@Bolt_Strike I think $20 a year (thank you Latsa) for the service beats other console corporation’s prices for online playability. And including the solid amount of free games to boot up constantly. Sure, the quality of the recent games may even be C level, but in general the package sincerely does not look bad standing next to the other Sony/Xbox $40-$60 yearly packages when you want to play an exact same game online.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Four More Titles

Magrane

@Crono1973 Why didn’t someone play it on an emulator with an illegally owned ROM? Because there are some people who think it’s called pirating and would rather play it legitimately on a console. I know it’s hard to swallow the idea of ppl who will wait for an actual licensed release when it’s so convenient to just download it with minutes ease, with no discernible nor ethical consequence but a company not making a dime. But we are out there. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Re: Scott Pilgrim For Switch Becomes Limited Run's "Biggest" Physical Release Ever

Magrane

@GTHOLLAND If “Being greedy” means they can maximize their business profit plan by giving ppl a reasonable chance to order it, while still delivering the goods (with the game existing digitally anyway and telling you it won’t ship for quite a while), then I suppose that criteria falls under every successful business out there. That gripe sounds like it’s coming from ppl who want to take advantage of the limited availability and hack their items on EBay for more......which totally falls under “being greedy”!

It’s horrible to know most people can’t be patient, but at the same time, if this is what’s important to customers, maybe they could offer a free download code to come with it.

Re: Feature: Ten Arcade Games We'd Love To See On Switch

Magrane

I forgot to mention Jail Break by Konami! I’ve been waiting on a console port of that game for 30 years.....literally!

Too many memories of that, Rampage, Pole Position, Moon Patrol and Elevator Action at the small arcade section inside a Shakey’s Pizza restaurant in Glendale, California.

Re: Feature: Ten Arcade Games We'd Love To See On Switch

Magrane

@BulbasaurusRex I’m aware of that, and thank you for pointing those out. I think I’ll still try to unlock them but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in that Battle Nexus game (which I bought just for that bonus!) is a really bad port with those audio issues and even the introduction is off. To me it sounds unplayable if it’s not the same.

Re: Feature: Ten Arcade Games We'd Love To See On Switch

Need to see a console port of Aliens vs. Predator. Such a fun beat-em up.

The Konami Simpsons and X-Men Arcade Games were also released on the PS3, and I’ve thankfully downloaded. Wouldn’t mind Switch versions for portable fun.

Total Carnage had an SNES release and The Punisher had a Genesis one, so I’m taken care of.

However, I did miss out on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade release on the XBox Arcade, so I’m hopeful for that again and of course, the Capcom X-Men fighter series!

Re: Random: Family Video Closes Its Doors After 42 Years

Magrane

@Not_Soos Same here. I’ve never heard of this chain, but you have to give them credit where credit is due as a business: 42 years swimming with their heads above water with ever-changing technology (every few years!) to adapt their capital model.

Bravo guys!

Re: Nintendo Appears To Be Pulling DSiWare Games From The 3DS eShop

Magrane

Oh nuts, I’ve been wanting to buy Soul of Darkness and I sat on it. 😟. Is it truly gone as of the 1st?

I hope it’s an error and they’ll put it back up at least for a last chance kind of deal. I don’t think it’s fair at all not to give a heads-up like they’re doing for Mario’s 35th.

If I wanted to buy the Europe version on my American 3DS, is it at all possible?

Re: Feature: What's The Best Way To Play Super Mario Bros. In 2020?

Magrane

@Gwynbleidd The hype behind it is the nostalgia from the 80’s, and also the uniqueness. A new twist for a new collectible. And it’s a pocket version (much smaller than a current smartphone) which is a lot more easier than a “bulkier” Switch Lite or 3DS.

But yeah , in terms of preference, I love the SMB Deluxe upgrade as well as the 3DS Virtual Console version as my go-to ones to play. Although Super Mario Maker 2 and Super Mario Bros. 35 are satiating me.

Re: Super Mario Maker Online Services To Be Terminated, Will Soon Be Removed From Sale

Magrane

@rockodoodle SMM has PLENTY of offline stuff. It’s not going completely offline, just the new level upload part.

@EmmatheBest That’s a bit harsh. They’re only killing the ability to upload new courses, and there are millions of courses already online that you’ll still be able to download.

The game will remain playable......so unless you thrived uploading courses continuously, your post-March experience won’t change much. I agree that Nintendo should transfer the courses to the Switch server.

Re: Poll: It's Been One Year Since Mario Kart Tour Was Released, Are You Still Playing It?

Magrane

Just downloaded it as part of the “Mario Missions” for that exclusive pin set (pointless actually.....). I hesitated the past year as part of my protest against games with micro transactions, fearing it would be hard to control.

But I actually don’t regret it. The game is fun! Enjoying the “unique levels to the game angle” that reflect cities. Just adding to the race track lore of Mario Kart!

By the way, those transactions are very expensive. Would rather play full price like I did for Super Mario Run. But just play the game for free....don’t fall into that trap, folks.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Four More Titles

Magrane

@KingMike Wouldn’t the hold-up be that Nintendo was, and still is, too frugal to localize and translate the game to English? Had they’ve done that, sales would have been guaranteed in NAmin the Virtual Console.

That being said, I continue to think they’re being ridiculous bringing in games that nobody understands to play unless you know Japanese.
