Re: Bloober Team Is Teasing Something Mysterious For February

LoroTalby

Every day NintendoLife asks me to accept cookies. Doesn’t matter what I put in the box. BTW, I don’t want tracking cookies or anything like that. So if that’s the problem, then just tell us that. Folks here said i should just email support. Yeah, no response. So as I said before, every day it asks I will comment. Hopefully someone here will see.

Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

LoroTalby

Great first year. Plenty of software for everyone. Backwards compatibility is both a blessing and a curse as you sometimes forget that you’re playing on a new system, but I wouldn’t trade that aspect for anything.

I’ve been using tabletop mode more since the screen is much bigger, though I’m still not much of a joycon user. Pro Controller 2 is amazing.

Re: Bandai Namco, Square Enix And Other Japanese Publishers Aren't Happy About OpenAI's Sora 2 Generative AI Tool

LoroTalby

I can guarantee this: no matter how much we try to keep this all from happening, the youth of tomorrow will embrace whatever “exciting advancements” come from AI’s progress. They don’t care about soul or originality: they just want dopamine and serotonin at whatever cost as quickly and repetitively as possible. We see that right now in gaming and it’s only going to get worse. Buckle up.

Re: Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Arrives Next Year

LoroTalby

@bleeflooflah I don’t believe that we will get nothing but 3rd party titles and Switch 2 ports, but I also don’t believe that the Switch 2 launched early. They could drop a brand new IP or some update to a dormant IP in April that gets people excited and sells very well. I just think some of these bigger titles were expecting are being saved to bridge the long cycle this gen will have. 3D Mario is almost certainly going to release alongside the movie as well. Let’s talk in a year and see what they did and then condemn the launch.

Re: Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Arrives Next Year

LoroTalby

@bleeflooflah just because they’re not releasing huge system sellers doesn’t mean they’re not ready to. Major software is a great way to keep momentum going and if the system is already selling without major titles then there really isn’t a huge rush to get them out yet. We won’t be looking at PS5 levels of stagnation, but I wouldn’t be expecting true heavy hitters until late 2026 or early 2027 and that isn’t because they’re not ready. They’re just not needed.

Re: Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Arrives Next Year

LoroTalby

@BenAV absolutely. There is so much natural demand for the Switch 2 right now even if they release absolutely nothing for it. System sellers aren’t required this year and even next year with the continuous feed of 3rd party games and these Switch 2 versions of Switch 1 games the system will maintain momentum. Can’t wait until Nintendo feels the need to bring out the big guns because they will. This gen is going to be wild when it gets going.

Re: Sakurai Confirms Day One Update For Kirby Air Riders On Switch 2

LoroTalby

So how do all the “physical games on the cart” folks reconcile this? Personally I don’t care and I like the idea that devs can enhance their titles over time (I don’t want broken games at launch, of course). But I’m guessing there are a few who will want to bring out the pitchforks with news like this.

Re: Atari To Acquire 'SteamWorld' Dev Thunderful

LoroTalby

I love Thunderful Games, but their attempt to make a Steamworld Universe has been a big miss for me. Steamworld Dig 3 should already have released. Steamworld Dig and Steamworld Dig 2 are the reason we like the developer and that world. I understand a few forays into spin-off territory but you absolutely have to get back to the mainline game. Still hoping we get a Steamworld Dig 3 announcement soon, maybe even at the next Direct.

Re: Fans Have Noticed Someone's Name Is Missing From Mario Kart World's Credits

LoroTalby

Shigeru has been handing off the baton for quite a while. He isn’t Nintendo and he absolutely wants the company to continue its success after he leaves. I wouldn’t be surprised if this wasn’t at his own insistence as he continues to pull away from game development. His name has been strung up in lights more than enough times during his career and will continue to be as his time at Nintendo sunsets and beyond.

Re: Talking Point: How Can The Next Animal Crossing Improve Crafting?

LoroTalby

One of my favorite eras of New Horizons was early on in the game. I was going through tools so quickly that I devised a tool area in the area behind my house where I could quickly run to and get new tools.

As I developed better and longer lasting tools that zany fun of running to my tool area and getting stocked up ended and I still miss it.

I want more grinding in the next game, not less. I want to have to work for the beauty of my island or town. It’s kind of the point for me.

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

LoroTalby

How come NintendoLife never shared stories about people who love the way the industry is going? Digital games are way better on the environment (for many, many reasons) and are much more versatile gen to gen. They’re also so much more convenient to switch between. For all the hundreds of pro-physical game posts we see, could we at least see one representing the other side of the argument?

Re: How Would You Rate The Pokémon Presents Showcase For February 2025?

LoroTalby

I hate when studios release teaser trailers for games that seem to promise something revolutionary and different but instead deliver exactly what we would have expected from the start. That ZA trailer certainly had me intrigued as a non-Pokemon fan, but that quickly disappeared while seeing the actual game revealed. And all the other madness, or midness, before that trailer numbed my brain away from the franchise even more.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Hello Kitty Island Adventure (Switch)

LoroTalby

Been playing on Switch since launch. Nice game with a very cozy grind. Definitely scratches that Animal Crossing itch. I’ve always wanted a cozy life sim in a Zelda world, and this just barely touches on the concept. Hopefully in the Switch 2 era developers try to capitalize on the cozy genre in epic ways that take the genre to new heights.

Re: Nintendo Taking "All Possible Measures" To Combat Switch 2 Scalpers

LoroTalby

@Pipulitoch the point I am making is that what you are asking Nintendo to do is easier said than done. They are already forecast to produce 20-25 million Switch 2s in the first year. That is the highest number produced by any console manufacturer in the first year. There are components that go into these machines as well as labor hours, not to mention shipment schedules. These are real logistical concerns and it isn’t something that money can fix. I assure you, Nintendo would love a 30-35 million units first year (which they could do) but it isn’t physically feasible. Let’s not place all the blame for product scarcity on the company themselves as if scalping isn’t and hasn’t been a problem for decades.

Re: Nintendo Taking "All Possible Measures" To Combat Switch 2 Scalpers

LoroTalby

@RupeeClock thanks for elaborating. I will say this…the GameCube barely sold 20 million in its lifetime. The Wii was going against the PS3. Were they caught flat footed and had to scramble to produce units? Absolutely! Was this intentional? I absolutely do not believe this to be so. It would make no sense to produce 25-30 million units for their first year (which is what demand was) coming off their disaster out slide in the market. This time, they know they have a banger with an eager audience. It doesn’t mean they’ll produce enough units, but they’re going to do their damndest to try.

Re: Nintendo Switch Finally Surpasses PlayStation 2's Lifetime Sales In The US

LoroTalby

I laugh in the general direction of anyone downplaying the success of the Switch in comparison to the PS2 20 years ago.

Sure, population has increased. Sure it’s a handheld/console hybrid.

There are far, far more electronics to take people’s time and money. Sony is a giant, giant competitor to Nintendo (Sony was competing with 3 console makers who didn’t have a shot).

Also, Nintendo has done this without any price cuts. And they did it after the previous gen flopped catastrophically.

Yeah, if you’re downplaying the Switch’s success you’re having hard time seeing Nintendo’s fortunes reversed and I feel bad for you, but that’s just the way it is. Oh, and Switch 2 will also be a highly sought after console so get comfortable.

Re: Poll: It's Almost Time For The Game Awards, But Are You Expecting Much Switch News?

LoroTalby

I really wish we had a better awards show. So much about this event rubs me the wrong way and every year all its faults become more apparent. Can’t stop this machine, though, can’t even corral it into a better, more thoughtful lane. Greed, vanity, excess with little respect shown to game creators or even the games being awarded. Oh, and that’s before the recent change of rules to allow a pet nominee in on a technicality.
