Re: Editorial: Monster Hunter and Nintendo Switch Are a Match Made in Heaven

Link506

ANY FRANCHISE on the switch is a match made in heaven! Because all these handheld versions are watered down or less graphically enhanced versions of their home console counterparts. But with the Switch there are no compromises! No need to choose, or have a portable and a home console version which aren't very compatible with each other. I would have never picked up monster hunter on the 3ds because I have the old 3ds and it has no c-stick nor would I get it on wii u because I would be tied to the TV. But I might be willing to give it a try because I'm not tethered to a small screen or a large screen. Monster hunter really would benefit greatly from the switch. But not as much as Animal crossing. Re: Gallery: Check Out Five Control Schemes for ARMS

Link506

Ugh. So many bad choices. Click the joystick in to guard? Can't curve punches while moving while not using motion controls? Why not use the Right joystick for that? It feels to me that the traditional controls will be gimped. I wouldn't mind this as much if I wan't going to be playing this on the go, where I wouldn't want or couldn't use motion controls.

Re: RiME Price Lowered for Switch eShop, With Soundtrack Incentive at Retail

Link506

Very happy to see this happened. I'm very glad they're listening to gamers. I was going to buy this before they mentioned the digital price cut, but now that they have, I think myself and others included will have much less a chance for buyer's remorse. Just having a game in the visual style of winder waker is enough for me to get excited.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Lists His Top Three Favorite Zelda Games

Link506

I'm personally shocked. Phantom hourglass, Imo was the easily the worst of all of the Zelda games in somewhat recent memory. The only way I had any fun with that game was by using an action replay to make the game somewhat entertaining. It's successor, Spirit tracks s much better done and I played it to death.

Re: Nintendo Outlines Pricing Range for Switch Online Service

Link506

Really happy to see this news! I only hope they change their thoughts on "monthly renting" games for NES and SNES. I would be willing to pay a bit more just be get access to these games for as long as I pay for the service, like Sony and Microsoft are doing. This way, I'll finally get to play some of those VC titles I just couldn't justify shelling out money for.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo 3DS, A System That Still Has a Role to Play

Link506

Asuch as I love the 3ds, it shouldn't be be dead right before holiday season, if not right after. Because like some, I believe the Switch is a soft launch, meaning that it's taking its time, amassing games, features and gaining user feedback, all in time for the holiday season. It's at that time, Advertising should be pushed hard, and the 3ds should be dead, leading more people to pick a switch.

But on a side note, it might also benefit them if they released a Gameboy mini, like the nes mini. It would cater to the retro and low cost gaming people, while the switch would be more for the the higher end market

Re: Pokkén Tournament and ARMS in the Running for Evo 2017 Player's Choice Spot

Link506

I remember first seeing Arms, and thinking how utterly disappointing I was with Nintendo, and how they hadn't learned anything, especially with motion controls. But then I saw more gameplay, mechanics, and then I finally stumbled upon the fact that this game could also be played with a regular controller. It's that duel set up which could really drive sales. Some people really like the motion controls, and others hate it. This really gives people a chance to use their preference.

But seriously, the competitive gamers will always be using actual controls, even if the motion controls are phenomenal

Re: Editorial: Pricing Blunders Have Distorted The Narrative Around Nintendo Switch

Link506

It's alot of little things, I have wrong with the Switch. Actually, it's not even the console at all, I LOVE the Switch. Everything about it seems really well put together. But aside from the console itself, it's most everything else which muddies things up. And i think the biggest culprit is the marketing. Everyone loved the straight forward marking that was the reveal trailer. But at the press event, things seemed to be all over the place. I still think they can fix this, but many (but not ALL) youtubers and news sites are making things MUCH worse. Nintendo needs to make a strong marketing statement, and then stick with it. "Home console gaming- on the go and on the TV". It would be even cooler if they tried to emphasize these huge world that they were making, or adding to the Switch, then say that you can buy a tiny console to play these BIG AAA games. Examples of these are BotW, Super Mario Odyssey, Skyrim, and Xenoblade 2

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Offers Hope for Those Dreaming of Mother 3, Metroid and More on Switch

Link506

@DizziParadise It just seems like they would have learned from their past already. And it also seemed that all these filler games like Animal crossing Amiibo festival and Federation force were just to lead us off from the fact that they were planning some main series games that were planned for the Switch. Who knows, it might come true. But as of so far, the future looks bleak.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Offers Hope for Those Dreaming of Mother 3, Metroid and More on Switch

Link506

@QuickSilver88 I really wish I could believe you. But between a weak launch line-up and second of all, the switch seems to be really pushed as a portable wii 2 or wii U 2. The games which AREN'T Wii U remasters, are motion controls games from the wii era. I thought it was even clear to Nintendo at this point that all the wii gamers either moved on to Sony or Microsoft, or have been converted to mobile phone gamers. So the ones which are left are the die-hard nintendo fans, and the ps4 and Xbox one gamers. If nintendo really got some new third party games, even if they were ones the consumer could buy on another system, they might just buy it for the Switch because of the portability factor. But no one is going to buy 1,2 Switch, and even less likely buy a switch because of that game or really any of the other games. Not when the Xbox one and Ps4 already have bigger and better libraries
