Re: Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 Are Arriving on Switch in February

Laxeybobby

This must be hot off the press as there’s nothing on Game.co.uk for Bayonetta on Switch. This is a definite Pre Order. Bayenatta 1,2 & 3 shear gaming bliss.
I hope they optimise the ports (1&2) properly as on Wii U there was a bit of slow down at times in large battles so wouldn’t want that to be made worse on Switch.

Re: Review: Worms W.M.D. (Switch eShop)

Laxeybobby

I loved worms on the Amiga 1200. “Incoming” ‘exploding sheep’. Great memories. Will probably take a punt on this and introduce my own kids to the fun.

Would love to see some Team 17 classics on Switch like Alien Breed and Lemmings.
A remake of Alien Breed 3D for Switch would be fun.

Re: Video: Here's What WWE 2K18 Looks Like On Switch

Laxeybobby

This is a definite miss for me. I’m not into wrestling for starters but if I was watching this video would make me avoid it.
Long loading times. No definition to the ring floor looks like they are floating on a white void or over layed moving stickers; Stiff robotic movement; repetitive commentary one liners.
If this is the final version we are watching then I can only imagine die hard wrestling fans buying it.

Re: Digital Foundry Gives Its Full Analysis of DOOM on Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

Having only owned Nintendo consoles. No PlayStation or Xbox. Doom is a game I’ve looked forward to playing since it was announced and seeing the last Doom I played was Doom 64 I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Even though I’m struggling to get used to using the pro controller to shoot any moving target, from years of playing FPS with wiimote point and shoot, however the more I play the better I’m getting.
I don’t care if it not 60fps or 1080p if I wanted that I’d buy a PS pro or XBoneS but I don’t.
I’m not worried about the textures when I’m laughing at the Glory Kill I just dispatched on a demon.
For me it’s about the fun of playing the game.
Hats off to Panic Button, Bethesda and Id for going against the trend and bringing this to Switch.
I look forward to Wolfstien and any other game they bring.

Re: Nintendo Gamers Prefer Using Switch As A Handheld Rather Than Docked

Laxeybobby

Docked mode is the primary mode. Handheld when the TV is being used by the family.
The switch doesn’t leave the house as it has no mobile internet capability like a 4G sim (I mean like playing online games during transit - on a boat, train, bus, car or plane)
I appreciate you can connect to WiFi hotspots but they are very limited here on Isle of Man.

Re: SEGA's Shun Nakamura 'Really' Wants to Make Samba de Amigo for the Switch

Laxeybobby

I’d definitely welcome a remastered version to my Switch. I had the wii version but it was frustratingly hit and miss with wiimote & numchuck recognition especially so on the more challenging levels.
Something maybe with the new tech inside the switch controllers would not cause the same issue.
The game was overall fun on the easy songs. It was my favourite rhythm game, second being Dance Dance revolution series.

Re: Egads, You Can Now Use Wireless Headphones With Switch Thanks To The 4.0.0 Update

Laxeybobby

Was full of hope when I read the headline thinking great my Bluetooth earbuds can finally be used.
No we have to add more gadgets and adapters making the switch more cumbersome than portable.
For the sake of plugging in a jack on a thin wire I’ll give it a miss until the time comes where you don’t need to use other gadgets and dongles to get wireless audio.
May this was why it wasn’t shouted about by Nintendo.

Re: Poll: A Retro Quest - Were You Able to Buy a Super NES Classic Edition / SNES Mini?

Laxeybobby

Managed to get mine from Game as a pre order but at a hefty £50 down payment.
Anyway it was waiting for me on launch day.

Sick at seeing some people on eBay with photos of six boxes asking for £200+ per unit. I found it funny that they felt the need to place a piece of paper with their user ID hand written on it in the photo as to prove that they genuinely have what they say like a responsible seller looking to reassure a buyer, yet they are happy to rip people off with what they are asking.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Breaks Down DOOM On Switch In A Unique Way

Laxeybobby

I think something that some naysayers are missing is the expert in this video stated that the fact that Doom is on the Switch is ‘very impressive’ and his demonstration was to prove that point.
Right now the version played is not a final build and only the mobile version (not docked) has been demo’d to the trade.
This is being ported by a team that knows their stuff on the Switch by the looks of things and I’m sure some of the build will be unique to the Switch hardware to get the best performance in both mobile and docked mode.
I remember playing Doom 64 and the first Doom on pc and I’m pretty sure they didn’t run at 60fps but were still very playable.
I’m sure there will be a follow up video once the game is ready for release/review with a definitive Digital Foundry technical performance review, until then just be pleased that that a big AAA developer has faith in the Switch to bring two of its IP’s too.

I have both on pre order and will hopefully not have the need to cancel the pre orders following the reviews. I have faith that this and Wolfenstein will score 8 or more.

Re: First Impressions: Hell in a Handbasket - DOOM on Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

The last time I played Doom was when it last made an appearance on a Nintendo console. Doom 64.
So I’m so looking forward to this and it’s already on Pre order. As to is Wolfenstein as I last played this on a MS DOS PC, again pre ordered.

If they can do these two then they can do Call of Duty, or Battlefront, or Serious Sam, or Half Life, or Tomb Raider....... You get my drift.

Re: Nintendo Is Ending SplatNet for Splatoon Next Month

Laxeybobby

This is the trouble with the predominately online only based games. You spend your hard earned cash for a game that become obsolete and unplayable when the publisher decides enoughs enough and switches off the server for that game.
Game then is only destined for the bin as it has no resell value or retro value in later years.

Re: Mutant Mudds Deluxe Is Nearing Release on the Switch

Laxeybobby

Oh look another re re release of a game that's already on all the other Nintendo consoles that we already own.
Really this is a worrying trend occurring on the Switch of re releases ending in 'deluxe' and ports of old AAA titles from other platforms. (That could be forgiven if they've never seen the light of day on a Nintendo console for those who only own Nintendo)

The cynic in me says this is just an easy cash in fo very little creative effort (Capcom).

I bought the Switch believing it was unique enough to capture the audience and market like the Wii did and thus see some investment in new games from smaller devs (not the 8bit retro games that I was playing when 8bit was the height of technology) and hopefully some cross platform big releases.
Other than Nintendos own releases ive been disappointed with what's arrived thus far.

Re: Review: Namco Museum (Switch eShop)

Laxeybobby

@sabre_wulf1 I'm with you on this. I'm 46 and played these and others in my youth at the arcades. I remember pocket money disappearing thanks to Rolling Thunder.
I don't see how £30 is budget nor do I see how these as a combination warrant that price. I suppose for a new younger generation whom like retro games they justify it.

Re: Starlink: Battle for Atlas Makes Big Promises for Switch Release in 2018

Laxeybobby

This holds my interest at the moment as I like the idea of interactive models.
As long as this isn't targeted at the pre teen demographic like sky landers or Lego dimensions.
The game needs to be challenging and the model building part of the strategy to win.
However I fear that like Amiibos there will be physical parts that will be rarer than a freshly cut steak that will demand exhorbatant prices on game and auction sites.
Still it's some way off yet to make any judgement.

Re: Video: Nintendo Minute Picks Up Some Pro ARMS Tips from Mr. Yabuki

Laxeybobby

I played ARMS for the first time last night.
Really enjoyed it. Completed lvl 1 and 2.
Can't get past the second fight on lvl 3 so I obviously need to practice more.
I was cautious of going online for fear of being made a laughing stock; becoming frustrated at being constantly beaten and being put off from playing again.
However I found I won as many as I lost.
What I also like is that if someone rage quits you get the financial reward as compensation.
Oh and it's a great workout, my heart rate was peaking at 120bmp.

Re: The eBay Scalpers Are At It Already With The Super NES Classic Edition

Laxeybobby

Although Nintendo promises better stock than when they released the NES mini.
They have already publically said that they will not produce the SNES mini after 2017. So that already means they have a finite number planned to produce and release worldwide.
How many can be produced in three months?
That comment alone fuels the scalpers to believe they are in for a windfall.

Re: Guide: Where to Pre-Order Your Super NES Classic Edition

Laxeybobby

All UK stockist are now showing 'Sold Out' on a Pre order item.
Other smaller independant stockist are already advertising the pre order for double the price.
It's even on eBay (U.K.) for £200!
This is ridiculous.
I had mine in my Game.co.uk basket when and clicked checkout when their bloody website crashed.
Well they can kiss my shorts! I'm not playing this game again. Missed out on the NES mini.

Re: Video: Can You "Button Mash" Your Way to Victory in ARMS?

Laxeybobby

I would like to know that if the matches are matched by the control method chosen.

I chose to use the motion controls.

I don't think it does as I'm sure I could tell the players using pro controller (They appeared to be quicker in all there execution) over the other players using motion controls.
I also lost against them. (Yes I could just be crap).
I could just play using the pro controller but I felt ARMS should be played using motion controls like a VR.

If it was matched by control method chosen I feel it would be more balanced and fairer.

Re: De Mambo Brings One-Button Chaos to the Switch eShop on 29th June

Laxeybobby

Not for me.
There are too many 8bit/16bit retro inspired games for my liking coming out on the Switch.
I can understand why as these are from indies starting up with low budgets and small teams.
But as I have lived through the 8bit and 16bit eras it would have to be something that really grabs me.
I wish them well and every success.

Re: Preview: Ultra Street Fighter II On Switch Offers Nostalgia In Spades, But New Features Disappoint

Laxeybobby

Not for me. Was never good at the fighting games, could never pull of the special moves. I have this boxed with my SNES. I also bought it on the 3DS at launch and confirmed some 20yrs on that I still can't play these type of games well.
Solo play I'm ok with to a point (ie the first 3-5 fights) but online play I was the pits. I'd be KO'd before I could even get two hits on my aponant. (What makes it worse for me was I was probably beaten by a 10yr old!)

Re: Poll: Nintendo is Keen on 'Social Competitive Gaming' on Switch - Are You Game?

Laxeybobby

@RocketRonald I've not made the approach to our Game store directly but I do follow them on FB and they don't seem to do competitive gaming in store for any of the consoles. (Probably due to being a small store).
TT is busiest time of the year for me. I work 12hr+ shifts with one rest day in the two weeks. Very little time for gaming. However the event is great and well worth the gaming sacrifice.

Re: Poll: Nintendo is Keen on 'Social Competitive Gaming' on Switch - Are You Game?

Laxeybobby

Trouble with living on an island in the middle of the Irish Sea is that it's near impossible to get to the organised social gaming events as they tend to occur in major cities like London or Manchester.
I play online Mario Kart and enter the Tournemants from Nintendo Life (when work allows).
I would love to meet fellow Switch gamers here on the Isle of Man. I know they're about as the queue at Game at Midnight launch was out the door!
But trying to locate any groups here on the island is difficult.

Re: Review: LEGO City: Undercover (Switch)

Laxeybobby

Nah another port from the Wii that will do nothing to promote the Switch.
This ones a miss for me as I had the WiiU version and completed it to 100% so co-op and all the negatives just don't sell it as a re-purchase.
