Re: Mailbox: Ninty Getting Its Freak On, Area Codes, The 'Discourse' - Nintendo Life Letters

Laxeybobby

@Divinebovine Thanks for the kind words.
Sadly though I don’t think I can shout loud enough or bang hard enough on the big extra thick Nintendo Customer Service doors to get any further answers. I get the perception I’m now being purposefully ignored.
This is why I hope @Gavin (the author of this article) and the Team at @NintendoLife will be able to take this further and get an answer and hopefully a solution. To me the solution seems simple for Nintendo to do. Just add the three dialing codes for Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Jersey 🇯🇪 and Guernsey 🇬🇬 dialing codes into their system as UK dialing codes. 🤷‍♂️

Re: Mailbox: Ninty Getting Its Freak On, Area Codes, The 'Discourse' - Nintendo Life Letters

Laxeybobby

@Fiergala Not just the Isle of Man 🇮🇲, our other crown dependencies islands Jersey 🇯🇪 and Guernsey 🇬🇬 have the same issue.

It appears that the system Nintendo uses to send verification texts only recognises UK mainland mobile phone networks, those available by service providers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

However the UK +44 also includes Isle of Man 🇮🇲, Jersey 🇯🇪 and Guernsey 🇬🇬
Where our mobile numbers start (0)7624 for Isle of Man (O)7797 for Jersey and (0)7781 for Guernsey.

Which Nintendo’s text verification system doesn’t recognise.

Laxeybobby

@NintendoLife team, thanks for covering the dialing codes issues. It’s not just an issue for Isle of Man 🇮🇲 but for Jersey 🇯🇪 and Guernsey 🇬🇬 too.
Our Redit post has got a following from Nintendo Switch 2 owners from the three crown dependencies that have the issue.

I copied the web link for this NintendoLife post on the Redit post to ask those with the problem to post in these comments.

Thanks again. Laxeybobby.

Re: PSA: If You Have A Switch 2 "Battery Charge" Display Issue, Here's How To Fix It

Laxeybobby

There is a few issues already with the Switch 2 on launch. This issue and the fact that the machine freezes leaving a white or black screen for which the only solution is a hard reset pressing the power button for 30 seconds then place it in the dock and press the power button again to start the Switch 2.
I had my Switch 2 freeze on me to a black screen after 20mins after I did a system transfer. Thought it was bricked until I found a YouTube video on it.

Re: Share How You're Using GameChat and Win LEGO Mario Kart + Mighty Bowser!

Laxeybobby

I have attempted to set up for GameChat but it appears not to be available for people who live in the Isle of Man. 🇮🇲

When I got to the ‘Phone Number Verification Required’ screen. I use the QR code, logged into my account and then I was asked to enter my phone number.

I live in the Isle of Man, 🇮🇲, part of the United Kingdom. Our mobile phone numbers all start +44 (0) 7624.
I entered my phone number (with and without the zero) and I pressed Submit. I immediately got an error message stating “The phone number you entered cannot be registered” as seen in the image.

A few friends, also living in the Isle of Man with Isle of Man mobile phone numbers, have also tried to register their phone numbers and get the same response.

I really do hope that for us Switch 2 owners who live in the Isle of Man that Nintendo haven’t restricted its service so we cannot use GameChat on our new Switch 2. Especially as this is a new key function.

I truly hope this is just an oversight for all the Nintendo Switch 2 owners in the Isle of Man.

Any other Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Switch 2 owners who use Nintendo Life that have experienced this or hopefully maybe have got it to work.

(Note: purchasing a UK mobile phone sim is not an option here.)

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Update 3 Out Now On Switch, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Laxeybobby

I never brought this game due to the terrible reviews created by the issues at launch.
Then I considered it again on May 4th but decided against it when the YouTube channel SwitchUp did an all patched up video covering this and they stated that the Online multiplayer was dead with no one playing the game anymore. So again decided not to purchase.
Shame really as if these issues where not there for day 1 of the game then this game may have had a vibrant community on Switch and more people would buy it.

Re: Publisher Midnight Works Allegedly Targeting YouTuber For Calling Out Its "Scam" Switch Games

Laxeybobby

@cchhaasseerr if only 1% of all the Switch owners buy one of their games at their normal £4.99 price, the publisher makes over £400,000.
With Nintendo not providing a refund service for when the purchaser realises it’s a scam game and would ask for a refund these developers/publishers are laughing all the way to the bank.
Multiply this by how ever many games Midnight works and their many aliases have released they are raking it in.
Nintendo need to offer refunds on purchases and that would put a stop to these developers and publishers as they wouldn’t be able to keep the money making it less profitable to continue their current practices.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

Laxeybobby

I have subscribed to Luke’s YouTube channel before it was SwitchStars and I highly recommend subscribing to his channel to get his videos on these scammers. His sense of humour and commentary make these videos hilarious to watch. Luke has other switch related video content worth checking out too.
Looking at the eShop ‘coming soon’ there are already another three scam games set to release and no doubt Luke has his eyes set on these for content.

To show how lucrative of a scam this is; If you took only 0.1% of Switch users of the 125million switch consoles sold and they purchased these scam games be it out of curiosity or being caught by the scam then that is 125,000 people paying £4.99 (which is the common price for their release) that nets them £623,750 for a single game that probably cost them £100 to make.
Even if you did the math for the game selling at £0.99. These scammers take £123,750 per game!

Re: Random: A 'Last Of Us' Clone Is Available On Switch, But Seriously, Don't Bother

Laxeybobby

It’s a scam game made by a group of developers that publish through VG games and other linked publishers. Google searches show most of these companies are linked to each other. They steal images from other IP’s, use fake images and even videos that have nothing to do with the game for the eShop listing, use multiple words in the game titles to get better search hits and the games sell for cheep prices.

Trouble is that people still purchase this crap giving them money and they will to continue.

Why wouldn’t they keep flooding the eShop with this crap!

YouTuber SwitchStars https://youtube.com/@SwitchStars
Does a good video series on these so called developers and publishers.

Re: Aliens: Fireteam Elite Is Coming To Switch, But It's A Cloud Version

Laxeybobby

I would absolutely have brought this if it was on cartridge as I am a big Aliens fan.
I just cannot bring myself to pay for a game that I will never own, could be switch off after six months if the uptake is poor, and wouldn’t be able to play when the Switch becomes ‘Retro’
Will be interested in reading a review though.

Re: Best Zombie Games On Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

@Dezzy70 No it’s not cloud and it’s the full game with all the DLC. The only thing it didn’t get were the seasonal events.
It’s one of those ports you hear people say shouldn’t be possible.
Lastly I think that the game was banned in Germany and so isn’t on the EU e-shop so the physical copies are now also hard to find.

Re: Best Zombie Games On Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

World War Z, Dying Light and Zombie Army 4 are my top three zombie games.

Just wished the developer of World War Z hadn’t abandoned supporting it and released the updates that other consoles have.
Also think both World War Z and Dying Light needed better media coverage for Switch as the online community are few.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of No Man's Sky On Switch

Laxeybobby

You just can please some people and for some it’s all about graphics over gameplay.

As an old gamer who started playing games on Intellivision and Pong gameplay is the primacy over graphical fidelity.
To me this games is brilliantly immersive, addictive to the point I haven’t wanted to put it down and lost the most hours in one session than I have ever done on any game on my Switch.
Yes it’s not going to look like the PC version or the PS5 or XBox but that’s an acceptable compromise in my book for the developers/porters to retain 90% of the core gameplay.

Re: Review: FIFA 23 - The Final Whistle Blows On A Legacy Of Disappointment

Laxeybobby

And the kids will still buy it, just as they did for 20, 21 and 22. EA executives will continue to sit in the board room laughing their heads off in the bewilderment that Switch owners are still buying this crap and giving them an unearned boost to their profit margins for the brand for very little spent on it.

If people didn’t buy it then this would have died properly after 19.

Re: DLC Trailer Released For LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Laxeybobby

I brought the Deluxe physical edition which means I will get the DLC as they release.
They are nice in terms of their design art but they don’t add anything to the game. Any character in each of the classes perform the same actions so it doesn’t matter which character you play as. It’s down to personal preferences.

For me I would have preferred some extra playable content within the DLC. Extra missions or extra locations on the planets. Or a bonus Rogue One location.

Re: Here's Your First Look At The Switch Box Art For Splatoon 3

Laxeybobby

I’m still trying to see what’s different in this than in Splatoon 2 that warrants me purchasing it at the launch price.
Other shooters like COD have different story/campaigns every time they bring a new version. Multiplayer modes never really change from the staples (capture the flag, death match, team death match) on any shooter, accept the maps being played on.
I’ll await a review.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Laxeybobby

I purchased my Switch on launch day and it’s the only one I have.
The only thing that my original Switch is doing now that it didn’t when I first got it is the fan noise.
Now it has a loud fan noise, when it first starts up and then if a game puts its under pressure.

My guess is probably because the fan maybe dirty with dust but I haven’t a clue how to clean it without taking the Switch apart.

Re: Obsidian's RPG Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire Appears To Have Been Cancelled For Switch

Laxeybobby

Pillars of Eternity was the only game I have ever asked for and got a refund from Nintendo. It was absolutely broken when it was released and should never have been released. Also I believe VsEvil under estimated the feelings of how this game was received by Nintendo Switch players on their discord channel and their poor response to make any efforts to fix the game.
I’m not surprised that the second is cancelled as I don’t believe they have the knowledge to create anything on switch.
There are better RPG’s on the Switch. Divinity of Sin for example.

This announcement is no loss to the Switch Community.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Version 1.0.2 Is Now Available, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Laxeybobby

Shame there is nothing here that addresses the performance issues in game.
The jumping/jittering grass in battles
The major pop in due to how close the draw distance is.
No anti aliasing
Before I get ridiculed, this is the first Pokémon game I’ve ever purchased and I’m hooked it’s very addictive but there are better ‘open world’ games out there on performance graphically.
Just see Digital Foundary’s video. https://youtu.be/df0uMcDe41A

Re: Video: Here's A Sneak Peek Of Dying Light 2's 4-Person Co-op Mode

Laxeybobby

I absolutely love the Dying Light platinum edition on Switch. It’s the only game I’ve been playing since it released on Switch. I own the physical version.
I would love to see and play Dying Light 2 on Switch but not as a cloud game. I don’t believe cloud games work well on Switch combined that technically you are basically paying a premium price to own nothing.

If they release a demo, I may download that to see if it would change my stance on cloud gaming, but I very much doubt it will.
