Re: Video: Splatoon 2 Global Testfire - Check Out the New Weapons and Stages

Laxeybobby

This was my experience of the first test between 19:00 & 20:00 GMT. (Below)
So I was buggered if I was staying up until 3am to try the second test and have the same happen! I'll try the one today at 11:00 and if it's the same result then I'm done wasting my time with it.

Is anyone on the GMT time zone trying to connect getting the following message:
Error Code: 2124-8006
An Error had occurred.
Please try again later.
Got the same message trying to connect to eShop.
Possibly Nintendo servers have crashed maybe??
update (19:35 GMT)
Now states in game 'Connecting to Internet' for numerous minutes until this error code is displayed:
Error Code: 2306-0502
An error has occurred
Please try again later.
Noting online to explain these error codes😩
Update (19:45 GMT)
Gave up trying!
Hope others had better luck.

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the Last Nintendo Switch Game Standing in UK Top 10

Laxeybobby

Zelda is the only game I have for the Switch and right now the only game I need.
I've played it pretty constantly for a few hours to several hours a day depending on my commitments. Yet I'm not bored of it and all I want to do is play it more.
If others are like me then that's a reason why other games are not holding chart position as people don't need any other games right now whilst they have Zelda. I certainly don't.
The only other game I have is the downloaded test fire for Splatoon 2.

Re: UK Survey Shows Enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch and Its Concept, But Pricing is a Factor

Laxeybobby

@JamesR Hope not. Too soon I think (price drop after a year maybe) otherwise early adopters will want some compensation like Nintendo had to do with the 3DS when they dropped the price soon after launch.
Those of us who paid the original price were offered the ambassador programme which was basically 10 free virtual console titles.
If they dropped the price of the Switch so soon I'd expect the same to be offered.

Re: Nintendo Switch Was the Company's Biggest Selling European Hardware Launch, Ever

Laxeybobby

@ULTRA-64 I took your challenge to google "Nintendo Switch" on www.google.co.uk and the results do not return a list of unhappy complaints. In fact only one result - BBC - reporting the dead pixel issue. Yes there are plenty of stupid YouTube post on "how to destroy your Switch" with some stupid tool or silly method not relating to normal use. Like will Nintendo Switch screen stand up to a blow torch!
Other than these the rest of the first few pages are giving review results that are positive and coverage of reasons to buy the console rather than not buy one.
Based on these I'd think the momentum to buy one is more positive than you made out in your post.

Re: Nintendo Switch Was the Company's Biggest Selling European Hardware Launch, Ever

Laxeybobby

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I wouldn't want to see a price drop too soon after launch, otherwise Nintendo will have to compensate those of us that purchased on release or shortly after. They did this with the Nintendo 3DS and those of us whom were agrieved by the price drop so soon after launch were offered the Nintendo Ambassador program with 10 free virtual console games.
I can't see Nintendo repeating this for Switch.

Re: Nintendo Switch With Dead Pixels? It's Not A Defect, Claims Nintendo

Laxeybobby

Just a weekend after launch and there appears to be more negative news articles about the Switch Console than there are positive. 😕
Controllers disconnecting; skins damaging controllers due to the material they are made from; Scratched screen caused by dock; screen protectors not working due to running temperature and Dead/stuck pixels. What the next Switch disaster story?

Re: Review: 1-2-Switch (Switch)

Laxeybobby

Not the game for me. I enjoyed the Wii Sports games as it had the theme of sports to tie all the mini games together. Also Nintendoland for that same reason. (A theme to bring them together)
This one I just don't find appealing even after watching the constant adverts. It's too surreal.
I also think my local Game is struggling to sell the game as when I went and paid for my preorder yesterday for my Switch and Zelda that I'm collecting tonight, the sales guy really gave me the sales patter to add this game. Neadless to say that was one sale he didn't get.

Re: Video: Nintendo Pushes The Social Play Angle With Switch Super Bowl Commercial

Laxeybobby

@SLIGEACH_EIRE
I've not seen one TV advert on any prime UK channel yet.
Nor have I seen any posters or billboards.
My local game store has one small TV at the corner of the store playing the initial reveal video and underneath that some empty DVD size cases with poorly printed out small images tucked into and positioned centrally in the case of each game available at launch.
No price, no dates. Which will no doubt equate into next to none sales here on the Isle of Man.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

Laxeybobby

@DanteSolablood @Syrek24 @Ralizah

You all threw the press release quote at me:-

"We can however confirm the exciting news that we are now working very closely with Nintendo to look to bring Yooka-Laylee to the upcoming Nintendo Switch. We’re looking forward to exploring the opportunity and will have more details to share early next year. "

So since when had the words LOOK TO and LOOKING FORWARD TO EXPLORING mean Its going to happen?
So I stand by what I said in my first post.
It is your assumption and interpretation of those words that you and others conclude it's a done deal and will be on the Switch.

I honestly hope it does come to it as I'm disappointed in its loss from WiiU. I'm just not jumping the gun.

Plus as I said once it's been out on XBOne and PS4 will it be 'old hat' when and if it finally arrives. Which is that not what kept occurring on the WiiU from launch?

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

Laxeybobby

Really did anyone honestly believe this was ever coming to the WiiU?
I didn't and I'm not surprised.

This is another example of 'project cars' scam through kickstarter/crowdfunding sites.
Pledging money through these types of sites is nothing short of gambling.

Also where are people reading it's coming to the Switch? It's Not there is nothing in Playtonics statement that says that it is.
If, and I think it will be a big if, it will be well after an XBOne and PS4 release and will be old news by that time. (Does this not seem similar to the WiiU getting old previously released games!)

My WiiU is already boxed and after Xmas will find itself being recycled through a tech exchange site. Even Breath of Wild can't convince me to keep it. (If I'm a betting man I would bet the WiiU version won't see the light of day either)

I'm not so sure I'll be rushing to Switch either as I think I'll wait a few months after its release and see how it looks. This is coming from someone who has only ever had Nintendo Consoles from the NES to present day. 😕

Re: EA Reconfirms That A "Major Game" Is In Development For Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

If it's FIFA you can guarantee it will be one that was released on other consoles a year to six month earlier. Pretty much like what EA did for their rubbish WiiU launch titles.
I'm not into football (soccer for our USA readers) so this lights no fires of passion for me and EA will need to do better before I commit to spend my cash.

Re: Lego City Undercover Is Coming To Nintendo Switch And Other Platforms Next Year

Laxeybobby

@SetupDisk I honestly didn't know that. I have only had Nintendo consoles from NES onwards.

I'm just a little tired of remasters and rereleases of older games especially which to be honest was a good portion of the WiiU library, especially as I already have the games on one of the other consoles and an upgrade in graphics doesn't change the fact that you've played the game to completion already.

I hope Switch will attract a bigger unique lineup as it gets closer to release.

Re: Lego City Undercover Is Coming To Nintendo Switch And Other Platforms Next Year

Laxeybobby

Am I the only person who's concerned that the Switch has no originality on its games lineup with only ports announced of games that people already own either on the WiiU or other consoles.
Wasn't this what happened with the WiiU at launch - ports of old multi platform titles, wii and cube games. Look where that went!

I won't be buying the Switch until I see some software that I don't already own on the WiiU (Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade for example) announced.

Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Now Coming to Wii U "At a Later Stage", Delaying eShop Release

Laxeybobby

@Luna_110
Totally agree with your sentiment.
I too think this isn't going to see the light of day on the WiiU. Especially now Nintendo have gone on record stating production has stopped.
Even the YouTube trailer attached to this article never had the WiiU listed in the platforms it was coming too.
Would like to be wrong as I'd pick this up to fill the gap until I get my hands on Switch.

Re: Hardware Review: NES Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System

Laxeybobby

For a unit with an RRP of £50 I cannot find anyone selling it at this price. The cheapest I've seen on Amazon is £120!

It's like the Amibo all over again with people ordering them and then scalping others for three times the price!

I'd rather wait for the switch virtual console and by the games I want separately as it will be cheaper than buying a NES mini in the UK.

I even looked for the Sega Genisis with the 80 games. UK RRP is £59. Amazon price £90!

Re: Say Hello to the Nintendo Switch, a New Concept for Gaming

Laxeybobby

Well I'm glad it's not called the NX, Switch is much more catchy and to the point of what this console is all about.
I found interesting the basketball scene when the two screens were placed back to back this made me wonder if the player is given there own perspectives when the screens are linked like this. Would be great for sport games FIFA, Tennis etc.
So much to look forward to in the coming months as more detail is released.
Would like to know the price.

Also how did they get all those people in that stadium to keep this a secret!

Re: Talking Point: What We Hope to See in the Nintendo NX Preview Trailer

Laxeybobby

Three minutes should be enough, if done well, to turn interest in the console in to pre orders.
I have already registered my interest to purchase the NX via the Game.co.uk website. I'm hoping these three minutes will convince me to confirm a pre order when it becomes available. I've always pre ordered consoles for a day one purchase, but after the feeling disappointed with the WiiU I swore to hold off for at least six months after release for the NX.
However the reveal and hype might change that for me.
I'm hoping to see from this reveal what the console does different, some line up games announced and a price.

Re: Review: SteamWorld Heist (Wii U eShop)

Laxeybobby

I have neither, but I do have SteamWorld Dig on the 3DS.
This was one title on my 3DS 'want list' but never got around to buying it.

So which one do I buy WiiU or 3DS or do I wait until NX so I can have both portable and home console version in one go!

Re: Pokémon GO Sets Another Record as it Reaches $500 Million in Customer Spend

Laxeybobby

I can foresee Nintendo going the way of Sega. Giving up on making consoles and using its IP's on mobile platforms and other devices. Especially so as NX to me looks like Nintendo is already taking steps towards crossing that bridge as this device appears to be mobile, excluding a SIM card slot to allow it to make phone calls. I believe if the NX flops then Nintendo will go down the line of IOS and Andriod. Hence they are dipping their toes in the water at this stage already, and they are reaping the benefits with share price increases and percentages of profits etc.
I hope they don't abandon hardware production. Only time will tell.

Re: Sources Suggest That Pokémon and Mario Will Arrive on Nintendo NX in First Six Months

Laxeybobby

I was hoping that the NX would be a console that would bring Nintendo back to the premiership, with a console that would have the power to impress, 3rd party AAA support equivalent to the XBoxOne and PS4 and Nintendo's innovation.
Power to attract gamers and keep loyal Nintendo gamers from being tempted to purchase a rival system. (The likes of myself).
Yet over these last two weeks I've gone from excitement to disappointment and now with quotes like this:

"It's a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one. It won't appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That's going to be a big job for the marketing department."

With the total mess the Nintendo marketing dept (especially here in the UK) did with the WiiU this seems an uphill struggle before it's even started..
Smartphone gamers play free games, with in app purchases during commuting or in lunch breaks but they still make calls, text, interact on social media etc as a primary function of their smart phone and would probably have a game consol or handheld at home (That's what I do).
So Why would a smartphone gamer abandoned that for the NX unless the next rumour to be released is that the NX will have a mobile phone sim slot and can allow the NX to receive calls. Hey the NX is a smartphone! Ridiculous!
I know these are all still officially just rumours but it is looking less likely that the NX is going to be a serious gaming console/handheld and more like a smartphone handheld hybrid targeted toward the casual gamer and lost Wii user base (Ubisoft refered to it as).
I reserve proper judgement until the official reveal by Nintendo but my eagerness to purchase at day one, as I did for the N64, GameCube, Wii and WiiU has turned to caution due to past experience of Nintendo commercial failures (although I've enjoyed each one, with the acceptance that those AAA cross platform titles where never going to be released on them) and that saying "once bitten twice shy"

Re: Darksiders is Coming to Wii U

Laxeybobby

@Spanjard I experienced the same thing with Darksiders II. Wouldn't get past the load screen. Returned the game to the store. So have never played it and never bought it since to give it another go.

Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game

Laxeybobby

With the launch month on the NX announced that's the nail in the coffin for me for the WiiU so no more game purchases for me.
I'm just going to enjoy the game library I have.

Not sure I'll even get the NX as I took the gamble with preorder of the WiiU and had it on day one and it's been both good and disappointing.

Until I know more about the NX and guarantees from publishers on who is and isn't going to publish on it, I'll keep my money in my pocket.. Once bitten twice shy..

Re: The Legend of Zelda Wii U Has Been Pushed Back to 2017, Will Release On NX As Well

Laxeybobby

Oh well. No surprise. WiiU preorder cancelled. This was the last WiiU game I had on preorder.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Wants Us to Download More and Move On From Discs - Will It Work?

Laxeybobby

I would buy digital if the prices reflected cheaper than disc versions which even on release date is cheaper than the eShop downloads.
Pokemon Tournemant £45 on eShop, £35 on Amazon. Even Game.co.uk selling the download code is cheaper than eShop at £39.
For me downloads would be a definite method of purchase if Nintendo eShop was more like Steam in its pricing model.
Windwaker download on eShop is still over £50!!

Re: Review: Steel Rivals (Wii U eShop)

Laxeybobby

@don_solo I don't quite get what your telling me. There is nothing AAA about Chasing Dead other than the price tag. The game is unplayable due to frame rate. The graphics are poor. No details on controller layout and the list goes on. Just read the community page on Miiverse to see people demanding refunds.
I believe one review on meta critic gave it 2/10.
So like I said in my first post there's a worrying trend of shoddy games appearing eShop.

Re: Review: Steel Rivals (Wii U eShop)

Laxeybobby

There's beginning to be a worrying trend of the eShop selling really shoddy games that will at best score 2/10.. There's this one and then there's Chasing Dead (I can't wait to read the review of this one).

Re: Video: TT Fusion Explains How It's Handling THAT Scene In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Laxeybobby

I hope they sort out prior to release the Miiverse connection issue that some people (myself included) have for Lego Marvel Avengers and Lego Dimensions. For some owners of these two recent TT Lego games trying to connect to the Miiverse in game to post screen shots etc doesn't work with the player receiving a Nintendo error code 115-0103.
The problem is definitely created by the game as quitting the game Miiverse access is restored, and using a different game (including older Lego games) allows Miiverse connection.
The only difference with these games compared to the others is that when the game loads it tells you it is connecting to the TT servers and something about taking part in helping TT make better Lego games. I wonder if this causes the issue.
What ever they need to get on top of this for this next release to prevent disappointed children.

Re: Developer Casts Doubt on Wii U Port of Anima: Gate of Memories

Laxeybobby

@Epona14 Investing in any Kickstarter is no different to gambling in terms of risk. Any company / person can create a pitch and get investment on a 'gentlemans promise', then change their mind on what they deliver or even if they deliver anything and just pocket the money. Investors have no guarantee or safeguards.
This doesn't surprise me as its one of several Kickstarter projects promising WiiU as a stretch goal, gets that extra bit of funding from the gullible WiiU owners who so desperately want a variety of new 3rd party games and either had no intention to deliver (ie just wanted that extra cash from the stretch goal for the main project) or found out at an early stage WiiU was too hard to do.
