Re: Review: Pillars Of Eternity: Complete Edition - The Game That Saved Obsidian Comes To Switch

Laxeybobby

The text glitch and the inventory icons not displaying correct representation of the item is highly frustrating and needs to be patched.
There are other bugs. You only need to see them detailed on Reddit.
I messaged obsidian about these issues, especially as I paid premium price for this game and they did reply to me saying that they are not involved in the Switch version and so couldn’t help but apologised for the lack of enjoyment it was causing. They referred me to VsEvil and provided me with contact details, who they said where responsible for the port on the Switch.
So far VsEvil haven’t replied to my email.

On a side note. Does anyone know how to interact with the text box on the screen. It appears to have two tabs and scroll bar but I can’t figure out how to interact with it?

Re: Switch Lite Will Be The Only New Nintendo Hardware This Holiday Season

Laxeybobby

@JayJ I’m not so sure that a Switch Pro would be bigger than the original Switch just because it has a more powerful Chipset to the Tegra X1.
Yes it may be more expensive but I would be happy to trade in my original switch and pay the extra for a switch pro console like I did for the original 3DS to last version of the 3DS with the circle pad included and the better processor.

If there isn’t going to be a totally new ‘Pro’ version but a rumoured component upgrade that includes a better performance chipset that would mean there will be two tier switch games (ie games stating enhanced with switch version 2 similar for Xenoblade on the new 3DS for example) then again I would make the trade if I knew developers were going to take advantage of the changes.
Otherwise I will stick with the original switch.

Re: Warframe Players Have Lots To Be Excited About, Including Upcoming Co-Op Expansion Empyrean

Laxeybobby

This is the only game I play regularly in my spare time on Switch. It is absolutely vast and the Panic Button port is superb.
Even better it’s FTP and without the constant push in game for you to spend money. It’s how FTP models should be.
It has a great online community as well.
In all in my opinion it’s the best online multiplayer game on Switch and I hope this new update comes to Switch as it can only make the game even better.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored English Language Release On Switch

Laxeybobby

@Ralizah
As I said she’s the daughter of a retired colleague I used to work with and she is well adjusted and very business minded.

My point was about the Japanese culture that she never made the same popularity in the West/UK/Europe even though she tried spending a lot of money she’d earn through her Japanese YouTube fans on record producers to launch a UK music career.

There’s no repulsion or alarm from me as her father was in law enforcement and used the Japanese ‘fetish’ for how she looked to their advantage and made a lot of money.

@NEStalgia has hit the nail on the head with his evaluations of the differences. I can’t add anything more to that as I agree with him.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored English Language Release On Switch

Laxeybobby

@NEStalgia
Yes I totally agree that boys in the west are going to be interested in girls. Boys all over the world will be interested in girls and boys.
It was just my belief that the Japanese culture seems more open about sexualising young girls in school uniforms.
But I’m not wet behind the ears not to know that there are plenty of western websites and magazines that can be subscribed to or visited that do the same. Just not so freely in the form of western made video games.

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored English Language Release On Switch

Laxeybobby

@Ralizah No I don’t.
However Japan seems to have a culture that over sexualises young girls in school uniforms in video games, Manga and in real life. I’m in law enforcement and I had a colleague who’s daughter was a Japanese YouTube sensation Beckii Cruel for a while for that exact reason until she got to an age she was no longer popular. (Google the name and watch her videos. She was even the focus of a BBC documentary about the interests of Japanese men in her and all the gifts they would send her)

Re: The First Patch For Saints Row: The Third On Switch Rolls Out Later This Week

Laxeybobby

My switch is mainly played docked unless the family want to watch something on TV.
So reading the reviews this game is not recommended to play in docked?
So has this/will this patch rectify the ‘unplayable’ docked mode that review sites like IGN have stated?

I’ve never played this game ever and would like to have it but I’m not going to spend money on a game I can’t play on my big screen via the dock.

Re: Starlink: Battle For Atlas' Huge Crimson Moon Update Is Now Live

Laxeybobby

I bought the physical version. However now you can no longer buy the ships, characters and accessories. So can somebody explain to me how when the Star Fox ship is destroyed in game I can use the other ship that was digital that came with the game. As the game instructs you to connect the physical ship to the controller.

I would like to know this before I get any DLC as I don’t want to pay for something that then asks me to connect the model ship or character that I don’t physically have but have digitally.

May be a simple answer but I couldn’t figure it out.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo Labo VR Fails To Enter Top 40, Yoshi Slips Down To Fifth Place

Laxeybobby

Not surprised. My local Game didn’t stock it. Not that I would buy it as it’s aimed at the kiddies end of the switch market.

I am waiting on seeing if there really is going to be a Switch Pro release and if there is then I can see a host of third party manufacturers making a VR headset for Switch that isn’t made from cardboard and aimed at the more mature gamer.
And some developers making some less kiddie VR games (Zelda and Mario VR Updates not included in my reference to kiddie focused VR games - ie the ones that come with Labo kit)

Re: Dawn Of Survivors Is An Intriguing Online-Based Zombie Survival Switch Game, And It's Only $2

Laxeybobby

This sounds like it’s business model has come from mobile origins and will probably included paid for content that will make this a ‘pay to win’ style of game that most mobile phone games are.
I like these survival pvp ideas but I’ll wait for a review as I don’t like the ‘pay to win’ business model as there are always individuals with more money than sense that will buy that £79 or $99 loot box just to be top of the leaderboard.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 13th)

Laxeybobby

@Lionyone Warlock of Firetop Mountain was my first ever book in that series of books. The game is in my wish list but I am cautious as I have not seen any reviews of the game and I wouldn't want it to be poor and ruin my memories of the books I played.
It was those books that led me to Gamesworkshop Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying, HeroQuest and Warhammer Quest.

Re: Talking Point: Xenon Racer Is Just The Tip Of The Iceberg For Falsely Advertised Games On Switch

Laxeybobby

This is a good piece by @Nintendolife, however @Nintendolife or the author @dartmonkey (Gavin Lane) or video presenter @alexolney should take it up a level with some challenge journalism by actually challenging Nintendo UK or USA about the ‘bullshots’ and miss representation on the eShop for an official comment by Nintendo and what if anything they are doing about it. Also challenge the publishers/developers for a comment too. (a risk I guess would be that this would make Nintendolife unpopular with publishers/developers and thus the free courtesy review copies of games may dry up, although with all the games being released on switch Nintendolife are already severely lacking in reviews)

Re: Xenon Racer Brings Futuristic Arcade Racing To Switch Tomorrow, Launch Trailer Released

Laxeybobby

Having watched these videos of the switch version. The car just doesn’t look connected to the track environment, it looks as though it’s just floating. I think this is due to any lack of shadow or graphical representation of the tyres interaction with the tarmac.

The pop up is ridiculous, reminds me of the N64 days.

Certainly not a £45 game.

Maybe games like this is why the Wall Street journal are claiming that a switch pro is going to be announced this year.

Re: Video: Get Your First Look At The Nintendo Labo VR Kit

Laxeybobby

This is VR for the younger demographic of the gamer market. But I suppose the Labo brand is predominantly targeted at the 7 to 16yrs. As a mature gamer (45+) I’ll have to wait for a new more powered generation of Switch (Switch 2) where maybe, just maybe, they will produce a mainstream head set for the Switch and some games that would warrant using it.

Re: Hold Tight As TT Isle of Man Races To Switch This May

Laxeybobby

Finally. TT on the Switch.
Living here and working non stop during the TT fortnight I hoped that the TT game released last year would be ported to the Switch so I could give it a go. The accuracy of the street scenery was truly accurate as the team behind it sent a vehicle around the track 360 degree filming.
Just hope the port is a decent one and the frame rate is good.

Re: Devil May Cry 5 Will Be Considered For Switch If Dragon's Dogma Sells Enough

Laxeybobby

Didn’t even know Dragon’s Dogma was coming to switch. It’s not even listed on game.co.uk. Is it digital download only?
I would definitely buy it as I love this fantasy rpg game style, all I hope is that it doesn’t get the ‘Switch tax’ as I see the game on the other consoles is retailing at around £20. If this comes out with an asking price of £50 then i’ll pass.

Re: Daemon X Machina Demo Is Now Live On Switch eShop

Laxeybobby

@nofriendo Absolutely agree with your assessment.
I played the three missions and then deleted the demo.
I have issues with the colour schemes it’s all very bland and messy in the action.
I found the weapons had no feel of being shot and no skill to aiming. Move the reticle near to an enemy and the box goes red and even if the reticle is not even over the enemy it your shots land.
I just wanted the aiming to be motion controlled and the fact it was not an it was clunky it quickly became frustrating.

I think with all this hype this is going to be the switches version of Valhallas Devils Third in terms of a game hyped and promising so much and delivered poorly.

Re: More Than 1,800 Games Have Now Been Released On The Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

Yet my local Game (uk) store has the smallest of centre display dedicated to the Switch with less than half a dozen new game releases on a shelf underneath which is a shelf of pre owned games and on the opposite side is PC peripherals.
Where as Xbox has one entire side of the shop wall top to bottom and PlayStation has the exact same on the opposite side of the shop.

Re: Video: Ark: Survival Evolved Is A Blurry Mess On Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

Lol 😂 £50+ for a decent soundtrack accompanied by what could be deemed as a crappy interactive music video. 😂

What would be a good bit of gaming journalism would be someone obtaining an interview with with the developers and get them to explain how they honestly thought this was a game worth releasing.

Wonder if there will be a landfill sight somewhere in the world where the unsold physical copies will be stored for eternity like Ataris ET game in the 80’s.

Re: Warframe Now Has One Million Players On Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

@PolarExperience @ShadJV @nessisonett
Sorry I thought that as Smash Bros has more players online in the game fighting at one time than a normal fighter such as MK or Street Fighter places it on the fringe of being an MMO. ‘an online video game which can be played by a very large number of people simultaneously.’
Either way both are great games in their own right.

Re: Warframe Now Has One Million Players On Nintendo Switch

Laxeybobby

This doesn’t surprise me as this is the best 3rd party MMO game on Switch to date.
(Smash Bros is 1st party before anyone says “what about Smash Bros”)

1 mil in barely half a month and this is a 6 month old build.
There are events coming, new bosses and updates that will bring it in line with the other platforms.
The only free to play game that is truely free to play where everying in game can be farmed and built if you don’t want to buy with real money. It’s not pay to win. The only thing locked behind a paywall are the cosmetics.
The online community is the best I’ve experienced in an MMO and the developers arppear to listen to their players rather than aim to cash in on every game.
I’ve only paid for some platinum to support the developers as a thank you for the game as I would have happily have paid for this game.
