Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Sea Of Stars

LavaTwilight

@Jacoby I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not I only know this because the game had just been released digitally and I guess the actual box for the physical edition hasn't been released yet. But maybe I can find a fun fact next week too.

Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario

LavaTwilight

Am I going to be the first one to point out that he voiced Mario prior to Mario 64?
Sometimes when some character's voice is replaced by someone else, it's actually indiscernable... let's hope they find someone that good.

Edit: ok so someone else did point it out. Glad I wasn't going CRAZY or anything.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

LavaTwilight

Great article, thanks!
A couple of years ago before this became an issue, I trawled every game in the eshop and 'favourited' the ones that looked mildly interesting and either waited for a sale or bought them outright when I had no game to play and wanted something quick. Since then I've only ever really had to check the 'new' section and I've avoided this whole issue.
Of course I don't recommend doing that now that there's so much of this 'dross' to sift through.

Re: Feature: Pikmin Bloom Devs On The Joy Of "Human Connection" And The Absence Of Bulborbs

LavaTwilight

I love this app and don't see why it's not more popular. I think pokemon go brought in a lot of non-pokemon players but I don't think Pikmin Bloom is having that same kind of pull, maybe because most people playing pokemon go is happy with it and don't need another one in their life.
I think Pikmin Bloom suffers from too many people trying to compare it to too many other things.
I really enjoy it and open the app at least once a day, even if I haven't done much walking.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Store Your Games Collection?

LavaTwilight

I keep the discs/cartridges for the system I'm currently playing in storage boxes/cases for ease of access. But I never throw away the original boxes. Those are stored away along with consoles and games not currently in use. It makes it so much easier to access the games. I only wish I had storage space for it all.

Re: Pikmin 4 "Limited-Time" Bubble Tea Announced In New Kung Fu Tea X Nintendo Partnership

LavaTwilight

@reporterdavid Pikmin is a bit of an RTS-lite game but it's unlike any other game I've played. I'd really like to know if there is anything like it. It's got a cute charm that mixes well and there's a nice blend of relaxing easiness and occasionally intense battles, as well as the time limits present in 1 and 3. There's usually multiple ways of addressing any given problem your facing too, even in the very linear Pikmin 3. That gives it a certain appeal. It's one of those that you really have to try in order to appreciate because I dont think any video play through or review can do them justice.

Re: Poll: What Course Are You Most Excited About In The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC?

LavaTwilight

@RubyCarbuncle @Fullkorn @EriXz Same here. I loved DD and Daisy Cruiser was one of the best. I still had to vote for the Vancouver course in Tour though because it's actually one of the best city tours they have... hopefully they keep the feel the same. Of course despite all that, it may not transfer well to the Switch with the obvious differences in which case Daisy Cruiser would get the vote.

Re: Pikmin 4 Will Let You Erase Your Mistakes With A Handy New Rewind Mechanic

LavaTwilight

Sounds great for beginners but I felt the ability to restart a day over was enough of a forgiveness as it was. You also had the satisfaction of seeing what you did and then plan your replay more accordingly and find a better way of doing things. The rewind function seems to make that redundant... it's obvious that this feature will be great for younger players but I dont think I'll be using it myself.

Re: Feature: Our Predictions For Tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct

LavaTwilight

There's been rumours of an FZero GX remaster, and as much as I would love that I think it may need a heaping bowl of salt. What would be equally cool though is if it wasn't a remaster but if it came via Gamecube Online with the NSO service.

I would like to see some Mario Party Superstars DLC... we're long overdue for that and again, not sure if it will happen or not anymore. It seemed like a sure thing when the game first came out.

Either way I also didn't expect a Direct to be happening this month so whatever we get is good for me!

Re: My Nintendo Store's Pre-Order Bonus For Pikmin 4 Has Been Revealed (EU)

LavaTwilight

I've got mine!

@EarthboundBenjy I really dont think they would do that. There may be something like Nintendo have been doing with Amiibo, where it unlocks something for the game as it did for ACNH if you owned Pocket Camp, but I don't think it will detract at all for those who don't own Pikmin Bloom.

Although I do...

So it doesn't bother me one way or the other!

Re: UK Charts: Not Even Street Fighter 6 Can Knock Zelda: TOTK Off Its Throne

LavaTwilight

@Nintendo4Sonic you do realise that at least 15 of the top 40 are Switch exclusives? Plus 5 of those are in the top 10? Switch software sales will undoubtedly contribute to a lot of the others too. Now I'm by no means a 'fanboy' but I do understand a good game when I see it and I can read and interpret data too. I do not think it is as much of an illusion as you think it is.

Re: Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged Speeds Onto Switch This October

LavaTwilight

I loved the original and the track maker was incredible... but when it came to online play and actually sharing your tracks, the game sank like the titanic. When you played your own tracks locally, it was nothing more than a time trial removing any other excitement from showcasing what you just made. If those issues aren't addressed, the whole online aspect and track creator becomes defunct.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Lawsuit Calls Out "Immoral" Lootbox Gacha System

LavaTwilight

@Dev9417 so true. I've played a lot of these gatcha games a little (I usually stop playing when it becomes apparent I'm not going to advance without paying money) and Mario Kart Tour seems like one of the most generous in terms of not shoving advertising down your throat and allowing you to play as much as you want. Even when the loot pipes were in effect.
The fact that they removed those random pipes in favour of a more transparent way of obtaining rare items is testimony to the fact that they're wanting to get rid of such practices. Even though I'm sure they're not making as much money without them.
I've played games where there's 4 or 5 offers on screen during gameplay trying to get you to spend money and it's quite frankly sick, tiresome and unappealing. Mario Kart Tour is one of the better ones and I've found very few that are better.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Lawsuit Calls Out "Immoral" Lootbox Gacha System

LavaTwilight

@Uncle_Franklin what I find most interesting is that the odds were disclosed... they revealed exactly what was in the pipe and what you could expect to get.
I hope their lawsuit doesn't hang on that one element because if it does they don't have a claim.

Not that I agree with these mobile games practices, but I do think the parents need to accept some responsibility.
