Re: Random: Relive Your Childhood With This Awesome Super Mario Sticker Book

LavaTwilight

Also got this but I couldn't find it in the shops so I had to order the album and a box of stickers from the Panini website.

This collection seems to have red bordered variants and gold bordered variants of some of the stickers that appear once in every 10 packets and once in every 20 packets respectively... they're not needed but for someone who has to complete a collection 200%, it's very frustrating.

Re: Dotemu Is Bringing 'Might & Magic: Clash Of Heroes' Back On Switch This Summer

LavaTwilight

Unrelated to this particular game but I used to love the M&M RPGs I had on the PC. I think 7 was my favourite but it became unplayable very quickly due to a DirectX update. Then 9 came out, I think in the same month as Elder Scrolls Morrowind. Man what a contrast that was. Bethesda showed them exactly how it should be done and the M&M RPGs was history, as far as I knew. Good to see this being given another chance.

Re: Feature: The Best References And Easter Eggs In The Super Mario Bros. Movie

LavaTwilight

@abe_hikura they won't. It seems like all the Nintendo games that 'exist' in the reality Mario occupies are games in which he himself was prominent in. Wrecking Crew, Donkey Kong and even in Punch Out he had a cameo as the referee. Whereas non-Mario games such as Kid Icarus and F-Zero, seem to remain as entertainment, only appearing as games or on posters/statues/etc.

I loved how during their advert for their plumbing business, they were wearing the capes you get from the feather power-up in Super Mario World! Nice touch.

Also I loved how it would occasionally use non-original music, such as A-ha's Take On Me and Bonnie Tyler's I Need A Hero, and how both of these songs were in the charts the same year the original Mario game was released. Of course there was AC/DC's Thunderstruck which was released in 1992. But that was played during the part where they get in their karts after recruiting the Kong army. Mario Kart was released in 1992. I don't think these are coincidences.

Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give To The Super Mario Bros. Movie?

LavaTwilight

I would give it an 8 but I saw it with my family. Wifey also said 8 but my kids said 9 and 10 sooo an average of a 9 from us!
I understand some of the critics who panned the film (like NL); that is to say I think they have valid points. But I think they gave the overall score too low for the points they make. I feel like they've forgotten this is a movie for kids... not for adult fanboys or mature fans of Shakespeare as well as having childhood nostalgia.
I thought this film would always be difficult to get perfect and Illumination proved that to be so... but dang they got so much just right!

Re: Site News: Love What We Do? Become A Nintendo Life Supporter!

LavaTwilight

I visit practically daily but I hardly ever comment. Usually I don't want to get involved with general discussions, especially when several others have already said what I'mikely to say, but I do <3 comments that I agree with so I'm still pretty much ever-present.

Then again, since I don't know when my next comment will be, I want to see that cool infinity symbol next to my name...

Re: Looks Like Poochy Might Be Coming To Mario Kart Tour

LavaTwilight

New characters are added to Tour all the time. It wouldn't surprise me if Poochy was added. It would be kool to see him/her in Deluxe8, but that would be a stretch, especially considering the perfect time to add Poochy was along with the fruit cup. But let's wait and see.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch DLC

LavaTwilight

Let me tell you young 'uns a tale as old as time... I remember playing the old games on the SNES and Mega Drive, wishing I could continue playing them after the game was finished. Like, imagine sending back the cartridge and you'll get extra levels added. In my young impressionable mind, that seemed reasonable. Today, we have the ability of adding content to an otherwise complete game without even leaving the home. It's incredible when you think about it. The sad reality is that most of the time they really are money-making grab-athons with 0 respect for the consumer. I'm glad that when Nintendo does it, they generally give real value for money, and adds genuine longevity to the games.

Re: Soapbox: Why Aren't There More Books About Games?

LavaTwilight

Ready Player One was a good book. I liked the film too but thought the book was better, though maybe that was just the nostalgia I found in all those subtle references. The writing isn't great though and that really comes through in Ready Player 2. I tried so hard to read that book but I couldn't help but feel like he was just pushing creepy fantasy every chance he could while not really developing the story. I had to give up after a while.
Haven't heard of T&T&T so I have to give that a look.

Re: Photos Posted Online Showcase New Mario-Themed Switch Console Bundle

LavaTwilight

@Sisilly_G yeah that would be awesome. Remember when Nintendo did that? I had Mario Allstars and Mario World on one cartridge back on the SNES, and also the Zelda collection with Mario Kart DD on the Gamecube.
Though I do think Mario Kart is an odd choice when it could've easily been Mario 3D World. Don't they sell enough MK as it is?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Prince Of Persia

LavaTwilight

I think in Europe, the general consensus was to make video games as child-friendly as possible. Even if the content was bad, as in MK2, the box-art couldn't be. I can understand why it viewed like a cut-and-paste of the in-game Sprite over a non-descript background. Not saying I voted for it but of course that's what was happening in europe. I went for Japan

Re: Back Page: How Many Eyes Does Sonic Really Have?

LavaTwilight

He clearly has one cantaloupe sized eyeball that fills about 90% of his head, the rear of which is harder than bone, although you would never be able to see it as it is within the back of his head. Within the single eye ball is a fluid not unlike amniotic fluid which keeps his brain cushioned. This unique structure, combine with the dual-pupil sight is what allows Sonic to travel at super-high speeds without it all looking like a blur. Scientists, such as one Dr Robotbik, are trying to use biomimicry to create technology that copies this amazing natural miracle that will allow a spaceship to break the speed of light; however they still aren't quite sure how exactly the two pupils, one eyeball, brain safely stored within combo, actually works

Re: An Unannounced Super Mario Bros. Movie Character Has Been Spotted In The Wild

LavaTwilight

@larryisaman Yeah absolutely. I didn't mean exactly what I said. I meant it in a more cynical kind of 'let's read into every minute detail and draw random conclusions' kind of way.
Saying that, I did think it was interesting the way he said it (although granted, Waluigis cap doesn't include his letter). And it would be great if they somehow turned up.
But in all reality I think you're right, they probably won't be there.

Re: Random: Nintendo Bug Testing Tapes Show Early Builds Of Smash Bros., Pikmin And More

LavaTwilight

One of, if not the worst, glitch I've ever had was in Tomb Raider: Revelations. That's the fifth and final game on the original Playstation. In the very last level, Lara makes her way Tom Clancy-style through a building to recover a stolen artifact. It's quite tough and requires stealth and some quick reflexes as well as tense moments in gas-trapped rooms. Only to finish off with a pretty awesome sprint back through the building chased by a helicopter firing multiple rounds smashing the window as you try to outpace the gunfire. That would clearly be the most epic end to any Tomb Raider game, if it wasn't for the fact that the game glitches out right at the end and makes it impossible to finish. A door that's meant to be open isn't. The game literally could not be finished because of it. Total let down. I think the PC version got a patch, but the Playstation was doomed and there were no post-release updates at the time for consoles.
