Monster Hunter World was the first MH game that I was fully able to get into, sunk over 200 hours into it so far. Curious to give this demo a shot as I'm hoping i'll be able to go back to a version without all the user friendly features that World added!
Axelay is one of my all time favourite SNES games. Amazing graphics, inventive use of Mode 7 and a stellar soundtrack! Only downside I would say is that with only 6 levels it is a bit shorter, but can't recommend it enough!
Also for people wondering if the price is worth it, I completed the Xbox One version to 100% and it took me 26 hours, if game length is a deciding factor for y'all.
Haven't played the Switch version but played the Xbox One version to death, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't really understand all the negative criticism it received upon launch at all, it's a finely crafted love letter to 3D platformers from the 90's, they have always stated that was what the game was going to be. If you're a fan of Super Mario 64 or the Banjo-Kazooie series, this is the spiritual successor to those games, just with some upgrades to bring it to 2017 standards. The only thing I will say though is that the minecart sections and some of Rextro's minigames later on are an utter pain and not very enjoyable.
This exact same thing happened to one of my friends when he bought an Xbox One X from Amazon, tape sliced open and the console replaced with a load of random stuff, including a bottle of water and a Absolutely Fabulous DVD! Amazon were very unhelpful with his situation as well.
@LtAldoRaine Weirdly, I'm cool with some DLC levels as well, even though I'm nowhere near finished with the game (only got 310 Power Moons). I would love if you could go back to the Ruined Kingdom pre-ruining.
@roy130390 Exactly this, I've sank over 230 hours into Neverwinter on the Xbox One and I haven't paid a penny. Free to play can be totally free if you're willing to progress at a slightly slower rate.
Metroid II on the Game Boy was my first ever Metroid game. I have fond memories of the world, the enemies, the music, but the biggest thing was always the atmosphere. It was amazing how a little monochromatic display could convey a sense of utter loneliness and isolation, and the terror of enemies being around every corner. I cannot wait for Friday, welcome back Samus, we've missed you.
I think the most amusing thing for me is that Life is Strange is included on the list of 'family games'. Unless the prequel is going down a very different route to the first one calling it a game for the whole family is hella silly!
Bought the Xbox One version a few weeks ago when it was on sale and thoroughly enjoying it. Had no issues at all even before the latest update, and I honestly don't see why it was getting bad reviews.
What a great interview, thanks for posting it! I can't wait to hear Grant Kirkhope's music in this game, he has a very distinct style which is fairly obvious in nearly all of his work, and I'm curious how he will blend some of the Mario music with that. I'm currently playing Yooka-Laylee and the music in that is very Grant Kirkhope, it's instantaneously recognisable.
That's a great amount of money raised, congrats to all involved! Didn't know they were uploading the runs to their YouTube channel, thanks for the information, definitely going to give the Link to the Past run a watch!
Another interesting bit of information, if you have both the Smash Bros Link and Twilight Princess Link amiibo you can actually have two Eponas at once. I currently have them both at the stable, hoping they don't cause reality to implode due to interdimensional wibbly wobbliness.
@Damo I vaguely remember this being a thing with most Sega games, that the first two looked very similar and the 3rd one had an almost completely different art style? I seem to remember Streets of Rage and Golden Axe being like this too!
Still a bit concerned that it's only 25 minutes, but knowing that Nintendo can be very concise with their Directs I hope that they manage to fit a lot in!
Jeez, I have a Switch, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox One and Xbox 360 that I have hooked up and use regularly. Not to mention all the older consoles that I save for playing on rainy days! Xbox is mostly for multiplayer gaming, Switch for single player, although I am trying to convince a few of my friends to buy one for Monster Hunter shenanigans!
Good to see they're bringing in more obscure (well, I mean not in the mainstream) characters! Although I worry that the X-Men/Fantastic Four are going to get properly sidelined for this, just to screw over Fox.
@KiWiiU_Freek I'm at 50 hours, and I haven't even attempted a Divine Beast yet! I'm too busy exploring, collecting and upgrading all the armour sets, filling up the map, expanding my inventory and increasing hearts and stamina. So much to do!
This will be patched soon, knowing Nintendo, but the more pressing question is..will the Switch reach the dizzying heights of stability or, dare I say it, become even more stable than the 3DS?
@Baker1000 I think the complication is that you have to charge three separate things: the console and the left and right Joy-Cons. Charged my Joy-Cons on Saturday attached to the console while in the dock with the console in sleep mode, so I don't know if you can charge them while powered off, but I'm having the same issue as you, my right Joy-Con is nearly drained but my left one is only half way? You would think that they would discharge at a fairly similar rate?
Nobody picked Majora's Mask, therefore everybody is wrong. Just kidding, everyone's allowed to have they're own opinions! Fingers crossed Breath of the Wild becomes everyone's favourite after it releases!
This is great news! Snipperclips looks like an excellent wee game and hopefully shows off the capabilities of the Switch well! Definitely going to hold out for the Joy-Con bundle as it seems like the best deal, kinda reminds me of Wii Play and how that was a good deal for getting an extra Wiimote.
Every single Switch article, be it good news or bad news, is met with a overwhelming tidal wave of negativity in the comments on every website on the internet. Would VC on launch day have been good? Yes. Is it necessary? Hell no. I have my Wii, 3DS and Wii U if I want to play VC games. On launch day i've got a solid 5 games to play (Zelda and Super Bomberman R for new games, I Am Setsuna, Fast RMX and Shovel Knight for games i've never played before) so for myself I am happy with what there is for launch. I'm here to spread love and happiness in the comments, everybody smile
As long as the story DLC has a decent run time and is a completely separate story and not a "missing chapter" from the main story then i'll probably be ok with this.
@MrGawain He's making a cat hammock.. so maybe a survival/crafting game like Minecraft? Except on a deserted island and with Animal Crossing characters?
In the end, I think it all depends on how the Switch sells. I know they're marketing it as a home console you can take on the go, but I really don't see it that way, I see it as the opposite. If the Switch sells like 3DS it will become the only console that Nintendo has out there, and their increased focus on mobile will be replacement for the 3DS. If the Switch sells like the Wii U did there will definitely be a New New HD3DSi in a few years time, well, that's how I foresee things playing out anyway.
In a world with such a turbulent and volatile political and economical environment, it is reassuring to know that the 3DS is officially the most stable creation on the planet. Can we make the 3DS President and put it in charge of sorting out Brexit?
Played it for half an hour this morning before work, not really a huge FE fan but after playing the prologue I'm actually really enjoying it! I dunno, but it seems more fast paced than a usual Fire Emblem game?
We waited for 20 years and all we got was this lousy Pachinko machine..
All in seriousness, I've never been as invested in the later entries as I was with Soul Calibur II (which is still the series high point to me) but I hope there is a new and worthy title in the series in the near future.
@Tom41 I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you can do. There's a free version with three levels to play then you can pay the £9 and unlock the whole thing! I'm sure that's what Reggie said on Jimmy Fallon the other night.
Anyone having any luck finding the three hidden Miis on the revamped website yet? I found one at the bottom of the Miitomo rewards screen but the other two still elude me..
I'll pick up Affordable Space Adventures but i'll still have 500 points to use up before the end of the month.

@Lalivero Have you checked on My Nintendo? I found this while looking through my points history, Breath of the Wild comes up as:
Completed: Register a Nintendo Switch Game Card (eShop value: >£50.00)
And Super Bomberman R comes up as:
Completed: Register a Nintendo Switch Game Card (eShop value: £40.00-49.99)
If they've marked your game card as the wrong price that might be why you didn't get as much?
