Re: Review: Yooka-Laylee (Switch eShop)

LandOfZeldtir

Haven't played the Switch version but played the Xbox One version to death, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't really understand all the negative criticism it received upon launch at all, it's a finely crafted love letter to 3D platformers from the 90's, they have always stated that was what the game was going to be. If you're a fan of Super Mario 64 or the Banjo-Kazooie series, this is the spiritual successor to those games, just with some upgrades to bring it to 2017 standards. The only thing I will say though is that the minecart sections and some of Rextro's minigames later on are an utter pain and not very enjoyable.

Re: Review: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)

LandOfZeldtir

Metroid II on the Game Boy was my first ever Metroid game. I have fond memories of the world, the enemies, the music, but the biggest thing was always the atmosphere. It was amazing how a little monochromatic display could convey a sense of utter loneliness and isolation, and the terror of enemies being around every corner. I cannot wait for Friday, welcome back Samus, we've missed you.

Re: Feature: Ex-Rare Composer Grant Kirkhope On "Breaking Mario" And Following In Koji Kondo's Footsteps

What a great interview, thanks for posting it! I can't wait to hear Grant Kirkhope's music in this game, he has a very distinct style which is fairly obvious in nearly all of his work, and I'm curious how he will blend some of the Mario music with that. I'm currently playing Yooka-Laylee and the music in that is very Grant Kirkhope, it's instantaneously recognisable.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Turns 26 Today

@Damo I vaguely remember this being a thing with most Sega games, that the first two looked very similar and the 3rd one had an almost completely different art style? I seem to remember Streets of Rage and Golden Axe being like this too!

Re: Sony Thinks You'll Buy A PlayStation 4 Alongside Your Nintendo Switch

LandOfZeldtir

Jeez, I have a Switch, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox One and Xbox 360 that I have hooked up and use regularly. Not to mention all the older consoles that I save for playing on rainy days! Xbox is mostly for multiplayer gaming, Switch for single player, although I am trying to convince a few of my friends to buy one for Monster Hunter shenanigans!

Re: Feature: Ten Useful and Fun Little Details to Know About Nintendo Switch

LandOfZeldtir

@Lalivero Have you checked on My Nintendo? I found this while looking through my points history, Breath of the Wild comes up as:

Completed: Register a Nintendo Switch Game Card (eShop value: >£50.00)

And Super Bomberman R comes up as:

Completed: Register a Nintendo Switch Game Card (eShop value: £40.00-49.99)

If they've marked your game card as the wrong price that might be why you didn't get as much?

Re: Guide: How To Turn Off The Nintendo Switch (Properly) And Export Your Game Screens

LandOfZeldtir

@Baker1000 I think the complication is that you have to charge three separate things: the console and the left and right Joy-Cons. Charged my Joy-Cons on Saturday attached to the console while in the dock with the console in sleep mode, so I don't know if you can charge them while powered off, but I'm having the same issue as you, my right Joy-Con is nearly drained but my left one is only half way? You would think that they would discharge at a fairly similar rate?

Re: Snipperclips Confirmed For European Nintendo Switch Launch

LandOfZeldtir

This is great news! Snipperclips looks like an excellent wee game and hopefully shows off the capabilities of the Switch well! Definitely going to hold out for the Joy-Con bundle as it seems like the best deal, kinda reminds me of Wii Play and how that was a good deal for getting an extra Wiimote.

Re: Virtual Console Will Not Be Ready For Nintendo Switch Launch

LandOfZeldtir

Every single Switch article, be it good news or bad news, is met with a overwhelming tidal wave of negativity in the comments on every website on the internet. Would VC on launch day have been good? Yes. Is it necessary? Hell no. I have my Wii, 3DS and Wii U if I want to play VC games. On launch day i've got a solid 5 games to play (Zelda and Super Bomberman R for new games, I Am Setsuna, Fast RMX and Shovel Knight for games i've never played before) so for myself I am happy with what there is for launch. I'm here to spread love and happiness in the comments, everybody smile

Re: Talking Point: Considering Nintendo's Portable Future

LandOfZeldtir

In the end, I think it all depends on how the Switch sells. I know they're marketing it as a home console you can take on the go, but I really don't see it that way, I see it as the opposite. If the Switch sells like 3DS it will become the only console that Nintendo has out there, and their increased focus on mobile will be replacement for the 3DS. If the Switch sells like the Wii U did there will definitely be a New New HD3DSi in a few years time, well, that's how I foresee things playing out anyway.

Re: My Nintendo Rewards Site Gets A Fetching Facelift

LandOfZeldtir

Anyone having any luck finding the three hidden Miis on the revamped website yet? I found one at the bottom of the Miitomo rewards screen but the other two still elude me..

I'll pick up Affordable Space Adventures but i'll still have 500 points to use up before the end of the month.
