Get yer 'nanas and your monkey balls ready, because it looks like a new Super Monkey Ball might be a-rollin' over the horizon.
A Twitter account that documents the latest in Australian video game classifications just posted the cryptic news that a game called SUPER MONKEY BALL BANANA MANIA (all caps, apparently?) was just rated PG.
Last year, Monkey Ball creator Toshihiro Nagoshi - who also helped create the Yakuza series, which gives is an impressive range - hinted at something Monkey Ball-flavoured in the works. We could be about to see what he was talking about.
Super Monkey Ball has long been tied to Nintendo platforms, having been initially released on the GameCube, and although this rating only lists "multi platform" as its eventual destination, we're going to assume that includes the Nintendo Switch. It's also worth noting that Banana Mania will involve mild violence (gosh) and online interactivity (heck), which are what being the rating up from E for Everyone to a Parental Guidance.
We can, of course, only speculate at this point - but it would be nice to see the HD Rumble-enabled ball-counting game from 1-2-Switch (which is similar to the nut-counting game in Super Mario Party) make it into Super Monkey Ball. Put the balls inside the controller already, cowards!
The last Super Monkey Ball game was Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD on Switch in 2019, a remake of the 2006 version which launched on Wii.
Are you hype for new Super Monkey Ball? Let us know in the comments.

Thoughts and Prayers
Review Paperball Deluxe! It's fantastic and much closer to the amazing GameCube original than the mess that was Banana Blitz... (and much cheaper) Hope this new Monkey Ball is too. 🙏
I mean, I’ll buy it.
There was a YT channel that covered this month's ago by tracking down the original narrator voice (who was never credited in the original game).
EDIT; Thanks to @stinky_t for calling out the name. Nick Robinson was the channel. The video is this one specifically;

...somebody hold me...
(Ok, these articles just got a free pass from me.)
Oh man this could be brilliant. I mean, it could also be pants as 90% of Monkey Ball games since 2 have been not great. I’ll remain optimistic!
E3 2021 might really end up being an big one for Nintendo.
Zippo is a kinda reliable leaker (I think he leaked Super Mario 3D All-Stars & sm3dw + Bowsers Fury). In a blog post he said “I have a prediction that Sonic will be a guest appearance in SEGA's new Super Monkey Ball game, that series will celebrate it's 20th anniversary this year, so expect a pretty big push for that one”. So I’d say the game is definitely real.
I hope this new game ends up being good, I wish they’d just port Super Monkey Ball Deluxe from the Xbox, it compiles Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 levels and has a story mode.

If it's a collection of 1 and 2's levels and mini games, or a new game continuing from where 2 left off (or a mix of both) then I will explode. Ideally, It's new stuff with all the mini games and the old levels as extra content. There are a lot of kids that will moan it's too hard to unlock master mode these days (because they don't know what master means I guess.)
Please let it be a remaster of 1 & 2. PLEASE...
I hope it’s good. I’m happy that the series seems to be continuing.
@Realness
A remaster of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe
@Pandy Aww. It doesn't need Sonic. AiAi should be SEGA's mascot.
Don't do that... don't give me hope...
@Paraka you're talking bout Nick Robinson? He's pretty much the king of going to Japan for crazy shenanigans
I don't know whether this is the rumoured "Retro" or some other project entirely...
So I booked a ticket to the ACB headquarters in Australia to find out.
@Noid Good man! Please let us know your findings
I noticed two typos in this article. “Which gives is an impressive range”, and “ which are what being the rating up”. I’m not sure if the article was proof read or not before it got published. I’m just kinda surprised, because I don’t usually see any typos in NintendoLife articles in general.
@Handy_Man Maybe they were as excited typing it as I was reading it? lol
I really hope this is real and I hope it is as good as the classics.
@stinky_t - I had to double check, but yes! That is exactly who it is!
Dude did a huge solid getting that man's name on record.
@GrailUK Instantly thought of you when I saw this!
NINJA APPROVED
"Mild Violence"
Hitting another monkey ball on multiplayer like a bumper car
@BloodNinja Awww. Nothing to do with me begging for Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 since day one of the Switch I bet (lol).
@Clyde_Radcliffe Interesting! I haven’t heard of Paperball Deluxe. I’ll check it out.
Monkey target is one of the finest mini games ever
@GrailUK Hey I’ve been begging for Dark Souls 2 since launch so I get you!
@BloodNinja Oh. Word on the street is you might be happy in a couple of months time.
@Gs69 it so is
@GrailUK it is I’ve played it for hours with friends so addictive but it has to be the GameCube version it’s not quite the same on PS2 the controls in the GC version are way more precise
@Gs69 because of the hexagonal moulding around the stick for locking directions (and the gamecube sticks had practically zero dead zone in the middle. Honestly, how did the dual shock get so popular???)
Good point though, hope it is compatible with the Gamecube adaptor! (Ohhh imagine that!)
Super Munkey bowl. That’s all I hear now 😂
How did this article get approved with language such as g*sh h*ck being uncensored?
It’s the taste!
Nice, this is definitely a game, my partner would be interested in, as she loves Banana Blitz on the Nintendo Switch.
yeeeeeeeeees it's comiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!!!!
@BoostPower Shhh, you'll jinx it!
Keep it like the originals. 👍🏾
Mario says wahooo
Walmart has 3d allstars for $50
@GrailUK Oooh! I hope so, thanks!
@stinky_t I dislike Nick Robinson. He acts very entitled and rude to Japanese employees and seems like the kind of tourist I hate. (My hometown is near Yellowstone Park so we dealt with them a lot)
Considering all the evidence we’ve found over the past year or so, I can safely assume this is real.
@kducky11 when it comes to barging into companies and the like, I deffo agree. Not too sure about other stuff he does, but then again I don't deal with tourists day in day out
E for Everyone is an ESRB (US) rating, while Parental Guidance is an Australian rating. G (general) would be the Aussie equivalent to E.
