The PlayStation Vita has had a rough time lately, what with the store closing, no new games being accepted, and previous PS Plus games that you've claimed no longer working on the system. But at least it's getting a special Vita version of the upcoming Super Meat Boy physical edition!
But wait, what is this, Push Square? We don't care about no PS Vita (unless it's to inform us how well the Switch OLED screen will hold up). What we care about is that Nintendo Switch owners will also be able to order a physical copy of Super Meat Boy from Limited Run, with this horrifyingly realistic artwork.
A special collector's edition will include a double-sided poster and a Meat Boy figure, as well as a.. meat... tray???
There will also be a physical version of Super Meat Boy Forever, and a collector's edition which comes with a shadow box, 160-page art book, squishy toy, enamel pin, soundtrack, and a big box to store it all in:
Preorders will open on July 30th, and close on August 29th.

Oh $&[email protected] I HATE it.
Heβs obviously on roids and HGH.
Would make good lawn sausage
Looks like The Thing from Fantastic Four.
pixelated art trying to emulate the game's graphics would do better. I don't think it's that bad as your headline says, but I can't see SMB in that Thing/Hellboy/Doom/Lucifer mix
*Not actual footage *

Physical locked behind a expensive collectors edition! Yay! ππππ
And yeah the boxart is hidious lol
Super Meat Boy: 4K.
I think I just turned vegan.
I think it looks pretty cool actually. Reversable cover would be nice though. I'm picking this up, I'm trying to collect physical editions of all the classic indie games. Hope Fez will be added to the LRG line up too.
It's beautiful...
It's well rendered, and I see what they were going for, but yeah, I don't think I like it. More like Super Meat Man and Uncooked Bacon Girl.
Looks like a Troma film poster.
Doesn't seem to have any clothes on either...
Birth of a fetish
It's so nice to see this old art getting reused. I loved the horrifying nature of it back when it was promotional material during its XBLA release window
I love it! its so amazing!
Looks like a flame grilled Tyrant π¬
This is the version we need in Smash.
This alone would make we want a copy if I saw it on the shelf. 10/10 ππ
It's times like this that make me think, 'maybe covid isn't so bad'
Love the game, but I hate this. Glad Iβm happy with my digital version!
@huyi - Uhhhh, no it ain't.

Iβm a little confused by this. I already have a physical copy of Super Meat Boy from LRG, and I thought they typically strayed away from reprints.
I know it's supposed to reference 80's box arts, but this is ugly as hell. It does it too well, to the point of being unappealing.
Hahaha! I love it! It's brilliant! It's not new, it's been around a while but it's still genius!
When the RTX is on.
a game i couldnt beat. got all the way to the end but couldnt beat the last level
Love it!
So gross haha
They were clearly aiming for the bad box art style of the typical NES game.
Having said that, this looks kind of disturbing.
I'm confused by people's confusion, but maybe I'm just getting old β it's been a decade since it released. This is classic Meat Boy, and 100% on-brand.
Definitely has that 80s/90s boxart vibe, where you had to use your imagination for what that tiny sprite might look like.
I don't mind the art, but I didn't care for the game though. The whole one-hit death thing is just too stressful and repetitive.
I love it. It hearkens back to those times when 8 but games had ridiculous box art that was barely recognizable as the game that was in the box. Most notable example Mega Man 1 in the US.
It looks as deliberately uncomfortable as I imagine they fully intended it to be.
Extremely cursed image
I remember seeing this exact art on a GameInformer magazine many years back. It's not anything new
Hahaha ewwwww, itβs like a Troma movie.
This is ART.
Now I must enter some random words to satisfy the bot.
It reminds me of the nightmare-inducing character select screen from Snow Bros 2.
Cool art .. but off brand. Wonder if stores would allow something with so much gore.
Kill it in hell πππ
Toxic Crusader reference?
HAHAHA reminds me of the aqua teen hunger force movie poster
So very Nineties. Getting a real "Toxic Avenger meets Spawn" vibe here.
I think more realistic representations of cartoon characters are typically unsettling. I've seen a few of Mario, and I'm not even referring to Ron Jeremy.
The PS Vita store wasn't closed though?
I do believe Iβd eat him.
I LOVE IT! Great hilarious cover!!
It's like Meat Boy got the Mega Man 2 box art treatment!
Gloriously hideous in the best way.
I see a mixture of the Fantastic Four's Thing, Spawn without his mask, and the Toxic Avenger. Haha
This is fantastic.
Seriously do people like this game after this long? I remember when this came out and sure it was fun to play along with The Binding of Isaac but are there still people willing to replay this game after all these years?
@Oh_Well yeah the definitely supplied Best Buy with an order of standard copies having a different sleeve, but it was never put up for sale through Limited Run. Hence it is #28 in the line, where as now they are over 100. I bought one in store when I still had the 20% gamerβs club discount. Feels like forever ago.
Talk about being behind on the news; soon after the announcement, due to overwhelming backlash, Sony backpedalled on closing the vita store so soon.
And that boxart is awesome.

Raziel-chan
@Lordplops Yup! My thoughts exactly, looks kind of funny to me, but it seems I'm the odd one out.
It's actually not new art, I know I've seen it way in the past already, just don't remember where exactly. I like it for that "so bad it's Megaman good" thing, and still have an old PC collector's edition of it, because back then I thought it was funny, I was a "collector", and liked the game (and it was cheap in the gamestore I worked in then, β¬15 if I recall correctly). Now it's not my thing anymore, it's expensive, I don't collect anymore, and my disgust for meat has only grown in the 18 years I haven't eaten any animals anymore.
It's like looking at a cross of The Thing, Nemesis, and the Toxic Avenger π
This is amazing. Love it!
Bruh. I love it!
Always hated Meat Boy. It's disgusting and the games are a simplistic chores.
Super Meat Boy: A Netflix Original
@The_New_Butler EXACTLY what I was thinking, that it looked just like old 80's/90's American boxart in all its horrifyingly bad glory.
It's bold. I'll give it that.
I like the box art, but dislike the game π
