Re: New Chart Data Shows That Brits Are In Love With Mario, But Only After FIFA And CoD

Kiz3000

@MinatoYuki In all honesty JRPG's are far too slow and complex for the average gamer, baring in mind the average gamer is more casual than any of us on a gaming website. FIFA and COD are far more straight forward to just bang in the console and away you go. Also those games have online elements so you can go and wreck your friends. Can't do that in most JRPGs.

@doodlewhizz Weird to see Wii Fit and not Wii Sports. Do all the bundled sales of Wii Sports not count as sales for the game? Then you have the Wii U version and the (soon to be released) Switch version.

Re: Don't Worry, Hogwarts Legacy Won't Contain Any Microtransactions

Kiz3000

@Silly_G Apologies then. I haven't seen any UK retailers taking pre orders and Amazon US is the only one I have heard of that is. I just find the whole thing odd that they have quietly announced it is coming to Switch, but then not confirming how. If Nintendo are holding it back so they can announce it in a direct then it seems odd that the developers would even mention it now.

It just all feels weird. I really want it to come to Switch properly I am just keeping my expectations in check.

Re: Don't Worry, Hogwarts Legacy Won't Contain Any Microtransactions

Kiz3000

@Silly_G @Arawn93 Amazon USA are currently the ONLY retailer listing a physical Switch version. It's been a few days since that announcement and no one else has put up a pre order yet. This could absolutely be Amazon jumping the gun and assuming it will be physical.

Of course I would love it to be a physical release but one retailer (no matter how big) does not prove it exists. If it was not Cloud based they have zero reason to not be up front about this. The fact they haven't provided a definitive answer means that either it is Cloud based or they are struggling to port it and it will arrive in 2023, which would be a okay.

Re: Reminder: You Can Now Download A Free Lite Version Of Chocobo GP On Switch

Kiz3000

Definitely glad I didn't pre order this. The Lite version is enough to show me that this game just isn't worth it. It looks like a mobile game with its multiple currencies but worse than that, th online has so many disconnects that it just isn't worth the time and effort.

A shame because I like the charm of the game but this should tank hard. I don't see Square fixing anything with it though as it probably won't be worth the time or effort.

MK8 DLC and Disney Speedstorm it is then

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Chocobo GP

Kiz3000

I keep going back and forth in my head about this one. On one hand it's Final Fantasy and I do love me some FF. On the other hand it's a full price (albeit budget) title with free to play elements thrown in. I feel like they should have committed to one or the other. I will be trying the Lite edition though. I wonder whether they are going to do Map Packs as DLC and try and get people to buy tracks for their favourite games that way? It all just seems far too much like a money grab.

Disney Speedstorm is committed to the Free to Play model and is cross platform so will have a lot more players playing because of it.

Maybe I just stick with the ML8 DLC for this month and hop on the Disney train in the summer.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Kiz3000

I had a Day 1 launch model, that I sold off last month to fund an OLED model.

I put a screen protector on my OG Switch day one and only ever played it in a TPU case. Still despite this protection it had the crack from a screw issue mentioned above and the fan would just sound like it was taking off sometimes (mainly on viewing the eshop). Of course the joy con had the sticks replaced because of dreaded drift but otherwise they were fine.

So overall it was still functioning, but definitely showed its age.

Re: Review: Chocobo GP - A Surprising Mario Kart 8 Alternative For Final Fantasy Fans

Kiz3000

@Polley001 I just read up on it and it appears that there is a season pass, which is for everyone and you get rewards for a 2 month period.

The prize pass is the paid pass and you get additional rewards on top. I've also read that anyone that plays the game shortly after launch will get enough in game currency to buy the first prize pass.

Again these two passes scream "Free to play" game model. The game does seem fun though so it's a tough one.

Re: Review: Chocobo GP - A Surprising Mario Kart 8 Alternative For Final Fantasy Fans

Kiz3000

That first screenshot being docked is disgusting. Sure I'd rather a kart racer run at 60fps, but MK8 does that AND looks so so good.

I am glad this is reviewing well BUT the season pass in a full price game is a no no. This feels like it should've been a FTP game, in the same style as the Disney racer coming out in the summer. I'll probably pick this up, as I do love me some Square IP, but not until it inevitably goes on sale for at least 50% off.

Re: Anniversary: The Nintendo Switch Is Now 5 Years Old

Kiz3000

I feel bad for getting rid of my day 1 Switch and upgrading to a lovely OLED model. To be fair it only cost me £15 to upgrade and now I have the newest model to tide me over to the Switch 2, which I imagine will come late 2024 or early 2025.

It is absolutely my favourite console ever beating out the Gamecube and DS Lite.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Pre-Orders Go Live In The US

Kiz3000

@ManaOwls I can tell you now, you won't be getting this game at all then. The National Dex is dead and Gamefreak seem to be tailoring each game with only certain mons. To be fair I prefer this approach, if they actually put the effort in with animations (aka Legends) and not half arse it (aka Sw/Sh)

Re: 'Missions And Rewards' Added To Nintendo Switch Online

Kiz3000

Just give us Nintendo Badge Arcade damn it. I played that everyday for a couple of years when it launched on the 3DS. I got plenty of icons for free, and was willing to throw a few coins at it if there was an icon I really wanted.

Of course for this to work on Switch we will need themes and folders...

Re: UK Charts: Horizon Takes Over Top Spot From Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Kiz3000

@SpaceboyScreams They "literally" aren't. I can't attest to Madden but FIFA had plenty of new gameplay modes and features added to 2022.

Whilst I don't buy FIFA (my last one is FIFA 19 on the Switch that I still play) it gets a lot of hate from people that have no interest in the game and as such cannot see what is different from each time. They do play differently and any player of the game would tell you that. There just isn't much they can actually change what with the sport itself remaining pretty consistent.

Re: February 27th Is Pokémon Day, And We're Getting Announcements Every Day This Week

Kiz3000

@mariomaster96 I fully expect at least a tease of DLC for Arceus on the 27th. Even if it is just something like "we are not yet finished with Pokemon Legends"

Maybe they try out a Sevii Islands style post game? That would be pretty cool. Maybe each island has a leader to defeat, and not just battles, some could be races.

Why am I doing this to myself? I'll only be disappointed

Re: UK Charts: Pokemon Legends: Arceus Still On Top Despite Release Of Dying Light 2

Kiz3000

Almost 20 hours in and only at Firepit Island for the first time. This game is going to take me at least 40 hours and I am enjoying every single moment of it.

I think a large part of it comes down to a lot of my favourites being in the game and seeing them battle in 2.5D is pretty special. It also helps that they shook up the battle system including move effects and the move list of each one.

Catching whilst surfing is the first thing I've found to not enjoy though. Ugh

Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Tops Amazon's "Best Sellers" Chart, Unsurprisingly

Kiz3000

@WallyWest It kinda depends what you want out of a Pokemon game. Sure if you just want new mons, new gym leaders and new characters then S&S did exactly that. However S&S fell woefully short on story, was the most linear game to date, was the shortest game to date, and was the easiest game to date.

I don't want to start a Gen war but I personally feel that Gen V was the height of the series and all generations before V are better than any generations after it.

Re: Kingdom Hearts Cloud Collection Arrives On Switch In February, Pricing Revealed

Kiz3000

I'm really torn on this. I have the collection on PS4 that I bought in the sale for about £25 but I just don't get the TV enough to actually sit down and play them. The Switch is the perfect platform for me to actually play through this series.

HOWEVER, them being cloud based is a massive turn off. I think I'll give the demos a go, but I'm not expecting it to run that well. Just give me the collection physically for £100 and you'll have my money easily. (Even if the third one had to be a cloud based version)

Re: Prominent Gaming YouTubers' Likenesses Sold As NFTs Without Consent

Kiz3000

I am not going to pretend to know the first thing about NFT's (I've tried and it just does not make any sense to me) but this was always going to happen in an unregulated marketspace. I wouldn't even want to try and figure out if this is legal. At least the law will be brought up to 2022 with situations like this and them having to act and update the rules.
