The latest UK charts are in and it's a solid outing for Square-Enix's RPG remake Live A Live, with the newly released title coming in at number six. Indeed, for long-time fans of the once Japan exclusive SNES game, its presence in the UK top ten might be cause for a few arm pinches just to check we're not dreaming!
If you haven't played Live A Live yet, we'd definitely recommend giving it a whirl. In our review, we said that the remake "reintroduces an influential, unique JRPG to the wider world with aplomb, with a cacophony of different gameplay styles, music, and visuals that somehow hang together beautifully".

Elsewhere, Horizon: Forbidden West has climbed back up the charts to land at number one, which seems an indication that Sony's PlayStation 5 has been given another boost in availability. Otherwise it's business as usual, with games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Minecraft, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons showcasing their immense longevity.
Here’s the full lowdown on this week's UK top ten:

Pretty impressive for such a niche game. Really nice to see games like this and Triangle Strategy do well, these HD-2D games look so good.
Decent sales considering many people will be holding out for XC3 and maybe getting this game later down the road.
Great that a niche game like this is hitting the top 10.
Nintendo Switch Sports is doing great. Audiences seem to like it more than the critics.
Got into a buying streak and got XC3, 13 Sentinels and today Live A Live …. I don’t know where I’m going to find time to play these games as I’m in the brimming-with-content New Pokémon Snap… damn is that game packed with things to do.
Also, goodbye Mario Stikers, not even your first update could save ya.
Mario Kart 8 still at number 4.... It should top 50 million at this rate. I'm looking forward to the next DLC pack which I guess should arrive any time..
MK8 must be close to 50m already on Switch? It was at 45.33m at the end of March...
@Skunkfish Yes, it probably is very near to it. It's deserved, still no other Kart racer beats it overall. The shear amount of content it provides especially with the further upcoming tracks is staggering..
FIF..... hang on! Where did it go? 😲
This is really nice to see, I know myself any many others are holding out on getting it right now and will pick it up later due to XC3 coming out this week.
Now that Live-A-Live is a success, it's time Square Enix to start thinking about bringing over other SFC hits like Bahamut Lagoon, Chrono Trigger, Treasure Hunter G, Emerald Dragon, Lufia, and the Blazer trilogy.
@Serpenterror Bahamut lagoon would be awesome! Really hoping for Chrono Trigger too. I never thought Chrono Trigger needed a remake, but after seeing how good Live A Live looks, I think a remake in that style would be great!
I'm also holding out hope for a Star Ocean Second Story port to be released physically together with the first one that's already been released but digital only.
Impressive. I’m also a tad surprised to see Switch Sports consistently toward the top, but I suppose with how popular Wii Sports was, I shouldn’t be.
@YoshiF2 Nintendo Switch has a problem most game consoles wish they had, i.e. too many games to play.
@Bizzyb reverse Wiiu! 😂❤️
(Although there's still some great games, like Bayonetta, I need to get for that one, and I was a day 1 buyer! )
Glad to see it seem to be making the rounds. I have been hooked ever since it released.
I played one character from the demo (the aging kung fu master) and loved it, so I've been waiting for the physical copy to appear on Amazon. Placed my order last night along with a Switch Lite case. The item description for Live A Live showed that it's currently Amazon's #1 best selling-game in the US. And here I thought it would be niche thanks to its odd name!
I have a gut feeling this game is the spiritual pre cursor to Octopath Traveler?
@Olliemar28 any news on the UK charts this week? I'm desperate to know how well Xenoblade did! 😅
@Otoemetry The data from GfK has been delayed, sadly, but we'll get it up as soon as we can!
@Olliemar28 oh how frustrating! Thanks for letting me know 😊
