@iuli But this is the exact reason why they don't. I remember watching a video about it a couple of years back, probably Extra Credits, and in that it concludes that the subset of people that switch from a not buy to a buy, form playing a demo, is just so small.

The biggest thing a demo does is switch people who were definitely going to buy into people that won't buy it. See Balan Wonderworld as an extreme example of this.

I can absolutely understand why developers don't bother putting the time and effort into them anymore.

@FredsBodyDouble Depends what your definition of "average" is. 7/10 (metacritic as a source) is good in my book.

$30 extra for a steelbook, some artcards and an (albeit chunky) artbook? Seems pretty lacklustre as a special edition for that price to me.

At a guess could this be linked to the expected Smash reveal? Something to do with licencing rights particularly if the music is only licencesed to be shown "live" in the direct itself.

Just me clutching at straws here. I'm not a lawyer but this does sound like something a licence could prevent. Maybe. I dunno. Let's just all hate on Nintendo eh?

@Friendly To be fair, aside from the Switch Pro, I don't think many people are looking for anything new. The main things I see are a new trailer and date for BotW2, a new trailer for MP4, more Pokemon D/P information, a new Smash fighter. At least one of these won't happen, probably a new MP4 trailer, so there will be some disappointment but I think Ninty have this E3 all sewn up. Of course they have been known to drop the ball in the past so we'll find out in a short few hours.

@Peach64 Nintendo do this all the time. There was certainly a direct where they said there would be no new hardware announcements and then bam, 2DS (or the New 3DS, I can't remember which one)

I do agree however that it would've been best for them to announce it before E3.

Looking at that advert, "New" is capitalised twice and seems to hint at the name of the updated console. The reason a standard Switch image would have been used would be because Nintendo won't have released any images, to avoid spoilers.

I fully believe this is Gamestop wanting to run a promotion to coincide with E3 and include all the latest and greatest consoles they actually have stock of.

Of course this could also be me clutching at straws as I really want a pro model to replace my jet engine sounding launch model.

Good value getting the 6 cartridges as well and they are the 6 newest ones I believe.

This just seems odd. It makes the off-tanks (such as Winston and Roadhog) a non starter to pick. They say they are reworking but these two will need a massive rework to actually feel like a tank.

The 5 player limit I am fine with but why not have the last 2 slots as flexible slots? So the screen would be something like this:

1x Offense
1x Tank
1x Support
1x Offense or Tank
1x Support or offense or tank (based on option not selected from player 4 above)

Still means you only have a maximum of 2 of any one type but can have 2 Tanks, if you so choose.

It probably has more to do with your age when those games came out. During our teenage years we have more spare time than we do as adults and spend more time appreciating games. Of course there were also just less videogames about. Nowadays I find myself gravitating to the usual FIFA, Rocket League and Apex, not because I feel they are masterpieces, but because they are quick and I know what I am getting myself into.

Pre ordered straight away. It is a bit worrying that no other retailer has this listed yet but TGC have never let me down in the past so i can give them the benefit of the doubt.

@Kalmaro For the last 2 years (maybe 3?) Nintendo have done a Direct before E3 and then used E3 to showcase their stuff and done Treehouse for those of us at home.

This year, from what I have seen, it looks like Nintendo are all in on E3 meaning their "Direct" will be officially part of the E3 timetable.

I may be wrong but that's the impression I have gotten.

I can't seem to post a picture but the packaging it comes in is also really nice. The box was excessive for just joy con but it came next day even though I didn't choose the express option so that's great.

Anyway the box itself is normal boring brown on the outside (good for safety if left on the porch) but is completely red laminate inside with Mario and the My Nintendo logo on the longer side you flip up. It looks really nice and makes the package feel more premium. Nice touch indeed.

@jco83 Well I managed to miss that then. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, including this very site, and I've never seen it whilst browsing. Well hidden indeed.

Thanks NintendoLife for making me spend £71 on a pair of joy con I don't need, but most certainly wanted. Nice to see them available for the first time outside of Japan I believe.

I suppose the sequel, Transformed, still kinda counts though even though I didn't like that one as much as the first.

@nocdaes From the marketing I understand that it is a push your luck card game. I can't think of any other game similar to it at this price point and weight. It could find itself selling well in the community if it is a decent enough game.

They definitely should have thought harder about the name though. The name definitely implies a trading card game which this is not. Something like Sonic Card Dash, whilst not an amazing name, doesn't imply a TCG.

The first demo really turned me off this game, which is weird because I love RPGs and the artstyle is fantastic. It just didn't grab me I suppose.

Neat concept, and great visuals, but I feel like the character moves waaaaaaaaaaaaay too slow and it would just be annoying.

Haven't broken into the main game yet but I am considering picking up the season pass with its current 30% discount. Knowing me though the pass will be on 50% or even less by the time I actually get round to playing it.

Considering the game tells you during the tutorials that capturing is better than killing, I can see why this is a problem.

I haven't tried multiplayer yet but I'm not sure I would even bother trying to capture with all the people likely hitting the beasty and luring them away from a freshly lain trap.

I am looking forward to trying out the multiplayer side though. Kinda waiting for the MH Split Pad pros to come out and then it will be much comfier to play handheld.

Got this downloaded on both Switch and PS4 to give it a go.

Hopefully going to crack into MH Rise proper and maybe try out some hub quests. OooooOOOoOOOo.

Otherwise I have got back into Cuphead and have decided to just carry on beating the bosses on Simple because Normal is just too ruddy hard for me. I may also give Lego City Undercover a purchase for £12.50 and give that a playthrough.

Already pre-ordered the MH Split Pad Pro, as I don't have one yet and it will replace an Orzly grip case I currently use to add bulk, but is now looking a bit old.

These do look pretty cool, and would be good if there were games you wanted to show off. Unfortunately for actual game storage they are completely DOA with the Hori case storing 3x as many games for half the price and half the footprint.

Enjoying my time with the hammer so far. Just got up to 3 star and that's when a few more things open up in the village. Got plenty of quests to keep me going for now before I am satisfied that i am good enough to try out a hub quest.

So about £350 here in blighty. Ouch. It will not sell at that price unless it is actually a brand new console.

My first game was MH on the PS2 and I loved it for the dino beasties and the ridiculous weapons. I never got very far with it though due to only playing solo and it being too hardcore for ma at the time.

My next game was then MH4U which I put a dozen or so hours into but the form factor of the 3DS and other fantastic games just meant I eventually dropped it.

Now onto Rise and I think this will be the one that really drags me into the series as I have played the demo multiple times and really dig the combat system. Roll on Friday

Oh and the bosses of Bravely Default 2 are so obnoxious that I need a game to distract me and make me put it down before i give up on it for good.

We've had FF, DQ and KH so all of their big RPG franchises have now had the rhythm game treatment.

FFCC on Switch would be a dream. Only possible to be topped by Elite Beat Agents.

I assume these colours are the same but other side of the Fortnite unit. I liked the ones included with the console and I like these, but not as much.

@UltimateOtaku91 Just FYI the newer wireless models now have in built batteries and motion controls. Still no rumble or NFC mind you but I don't believe any other officially licensed controller offer this besides the Pro controller.
